Thankful Alden Richards Donates Concert Proceeds to GMA Kapuso Foundation

(Left to right) GMA Records General Manager Rene Salta, GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, Alden Richards, and GMAKF Founder and Ambassador Mel C. Tiangco

Following the sold-out success of his recent “Upsurge” concert, Alden Richards donated a portion of the event’s proceeds to GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF). Alden’s donation will help fund GMAKF’s bridge construction project for the residents, especially the children, of Barangays Iraya and San Ramon in Buhi, Camarines Sur. The initiative, Kapuso Tulay para sa Kaunlaran, will replace typhoon-damaged hanging bridges to enable school children and residents to easily get to learning and market centers. The Pambansang Bae, together with GMA Records General Manager Rene Salta, personally handed his concert proceeds to GMAKF Founder and Ambassador Mel C. Tiangco and GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog.

Alden said the donation is his way of giving back for the blessings he has received. “This is my simple way of paying it forward since very successful yung concert na Alden Upsurge. Maganda ‘yung projects ng Kapuso Foundation lalo na ‘yung paggawa ng mga tulay na nasira nung bagyo sa Camarines. Tumatawid lang ‘yung kids sa mga naiwang steel ropes na napaka-delikado at ang reason nila for crossing the bridge is to go to school. You really get inspired with the stories of people you want to help especially those who are in need,” Alden said. GMAKF held its groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Iraya Steel Hanging Bridge in Buhi, Camarines Sur last July 21.
