provincial runs were spearheaded by GMA’s regional TV Department thru the regional stations. GMA Regional TV AVP and Head for Integrated Marketing Services Division Oliver B. Amoroso noted the growing participation and genuine show of solidarity in the regions. “Truly, [donating blood is] a great way to show our love to fellow Filipinos - public service from the heart on Valentine’s Day. The Kapuso Bloodletting Day has become a widely anticipated occasion in the regions, not only for GMA employees, but the public as well. Moreso, this year, venues have been more accessible for everyone who wants to donate blood. As a result, hundreds were encouraged to participate and lend their support to the project,” Amoroso reveals. GMA’s Assistant Vice President for Corporate Affairs Ma. Teresa L. Pacis says extending the reach of the bloodletting activity was aimed at encouraging families to do meaningful things together. “The Network has always been providing avenues for our employees to spend quality time with

our families despite being very busy with our work. We have our Family Day, hosted by GMA, where our employees spend a day of fun with our loved ones. We also have our year-round roster of volunteer activities where we welcome the spouses and teener kids of our GMA GIVES to participate in our select outreach initiatives. This year, our Bloodletting activity is yet another opportunity for the employees to be closer to our families nothing beats doing good together, right?” In Quezon City, GMA collected a total of 306 blood bags, while 949 blood bags came from donors in the regions. Heart Over Matter This Kapuso Month, Heart Is First February is the love month, and GMA Network departs from the conventional by highlighting love beyond the romantic kind. “At the heart of this Network are our viewers,” explains Network Chairman and CEO, Atty Felipe L. Gozon. “That is why we always aim to develop a deeper bond with them by sending the message that in the Kapuso Network, we put our hearts in everything we do.” GMA Network President and COO, Mr Gilberto Duavit, Jr, shares, “Moving beyond the typical Valentine’s Day fare, we thought it timely to celebrate the broader types of love – and how much more love can be

felt in such relationships through small acts of the heart, be it through reconciliation, forgiveness, even solidarity.” In its Puso Ang Una campaign for Kapuso Month, GMA shows vignettes of love: between a father and son, among colleagues, and two lovebirds who are still lovey-dovey despite their advancing ages. The storylines of these three emphasize the deepening of love through little acts that come from the heart. Ranking high on its list of core values is the commitment to the Viewers as the Network’s Boss. As such, GMA puts its heart, first, last and always, into delivering entertainment and news programs as well as public service to the Kapuso viewers all over the world.

It Was A Great Day To Learn Making Those Balls…

Bea Binene

Bokashi Balls! The Clean Riverzone Biochar Community Project is now in full swing. The GMA GIVES, together with GMA’s partners in this estero clean up/livelihood pilot project, the Philippine Biochar Association (PBiA), the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) and the Sagip Ilog Pilipinas, joined residents of Block 5 Daang Tubo in Diliman for a half-day training on how to make bokashi balls. These balls will be introduced into the estero in the community and will eventually help clean said body of water.

Kapuso young actress and PBiA supporter Bea Binene also joined the activity. Making the bokashi balls was a fun yet sticky endeavor. Says Corporate Affairs Manager Unis Loleng, “We were like kids rolling the sticky mixture into balls. We will wait for the fungus to grow and then we are all set to throw these balls into the estero.” Stay tuned, mga Kapuso!
