GMA Network files case versus actress Sarah Lahbati GMA Network filed a civil case for Specific Performance with Damages against Sarah Lahbati with the Regional Trial Court of Quezon City. The complaint of the Network states serious breach of management and program contracts because of Lahbati’s “failure and refusal to comply with her obligations and undertakings under the Management Contract she had signed with GMA7 and appearances in her program assignments despite notice and advice.” Further, the complaint also states that Lahbati’s “continuous dishonor and

flagrant violations of her obligations to perform her role as an artist in GMA-7’s TV programs is highly detrimental to the entertainment TV block of GMA-7 and requires Lahbati to immediately discharge her contractual obligations with GMA-7.” The complaint includes liquidated damages amounting to P7 million caused by “Lahbati’s refusal to perform her obligations under the Management Contract and other program contracts coupled with her formal notice to take a leave of absence for one (1) month from the network without prior agreement or approval of GMA-7.”

RATINGS UPDATE

GMA leads all stations in 2012 nationwide TV ratings Keeps nationwide ratings advantage for the second straight year GMA Network ended 2012 on a positive note, leading other local freeto-air channels in full year nationwide TV ratings for the second consecutive year, according to data from the industry’s leading ratings service provider, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. GMA overtook its closest rival ABSCBN in National Urban TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM) in January 2011, and has since sustained nationwide ratings leadership. For the period January to December 2012 (December 16 to 31 based on overnight data), GMA scored an average total day household audience share of 34.4 percent, outscoring ABS-CBN’s 31.5 percent by 2.9 points, and TV5’s 15.1 percent by 19.3 points. GMA’s lead in overall nationwide ratings was driven mainly by its strong ratings performance in the afternoon block, where it led competition by significant margins. In addition, GMA was also ahead of the other networks in the morning block. GMA also led across all dayparts for the second straight year in the important areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, which make up 77 and 59.5 percent of the total urban television households nationwide, respectively. HERE’S A GLIMPSE OF

After the Second World War, Manila quickly transformed into one of Asia’s most beautiful cities in the 1950s.

50’S CITY LIVING

The busy, yet very clean streets of the nation’s capital were abuzz with commercial establishments - restaurants, theaters, movie houses, boutiques and other tourist attractions. People who lived in Manila during those years swear the metropolis was on par with western (European) cities in terms of cleanliness, public safety and progress.

Jeepneys were already among the modes of public transport back then, and while the 50s’ version of the “king of the road” was a lot smaller than what we have now, they were not overloaded with passengers. Drivers picked up and dropped off passengers properly and commuters did not need to “jockey for position” to catch a ride.

The series’ theme song, Together Forever, is interpreted by the country’s King of Soul, Janno Gibbs.

NEW PROG RAM

GMA Network produces most expensive TV drama,

GMA Network opens 2013 with the most expensive primetime series, INDIO, replete with an all-star cast in a grand production! The drama-fantasy is the first primetime series project of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. (as Malaya/Simeon/Indio). Despite being set during pre-colonial times, the value of dignity earned by sacrificing for loved ones still resonates strongly among today’s audiences.

GMA supports Filipino identity with ‘historic’ soaps In 2011, GMA Network presented the epicserye, Amaya, which showcased life and culture in the country during pre-colonial times. This year, GMA airs the series which takes viewers into the early Spanish colonial period, Indio. Why the Kapuso Network produces expensive primetime programs that are based on history can be answered simply by one of its core values: “We believe that the viewer is boss.” GMA is committed not only to provide what the Filipino viewers want, but also what they deserve to watch. In the cases of Amaya and Indio, GMA aims to enhance the Filipino identity among its viewers

by combining history with high production value. Through Amaya and Indio, viewers learn of their heritage and at the same time enjoy their visual experience on how things were during those days. The Network is careful in presenting these historical elements, hiring historians from the University of the Philippines (Dr. Vic Villan and Dr. Rolando Borrinaga) to ensure accuracy. Everything, from the costumes and props, down to the smallest detail of every scene, is checked. GMA guarantees that every time you tune in to watch Indio, you will experience a real “blast from the past.”

Fil-Chinese businessmen donate P1M for ‘Pablo’ victims through Kapuso Foundation by Amita O. Legaspi/KBK, GMA News http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/290918/economy/companies/fil-chinesebusinessmen-donate-p1m-for-pablo-victims-through-kapuso-foundation

A group of FilipinoChinese businessmen handed to GMA Kapuso Foundation a P1 million check as donation for the victims of typhoon “Pablo,” which left over a thousand people dead in Visayas and Mindanao early December last year. Jovenson Ong, chief executive officer of Dragon Fireworks and president of the Association of Young Filipino Chinese Entrepreneurs (AYFCE), said they chose Kapuso Foundation as recipient of the fund because of its track record in providing relief assistance to calamity victims. “We feel that GMA Kapuso Foundation has been really helping our less fortunate countrymen. GMA Kapuso Foundation,” he said in an interview after the turnover of the check. He said they are fully aware of the devastation caused by “Pablo,” tagged as the world’s deadliest disaster in 2012 by a foreign research paper, so their members decided to pool money to help the affected residents. At least 1,067 were reported dead due to “Pablo,” which also damaged P34 million worth of infrastructure, agriculture and properties, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. Asked where they want the fund to be used, Jeffrey Ng, CEO of Cathay Land Inc/South Forbes Golf City Project and AYFCE’s chairman, said they want the victims to have their own houses and a livelihood program to help them provide for their daily needs. The group also wants to help the victims to build new school buildings to allow the children to continue their schooling.

Tapos na sa mga relief distributions, right now we are doing medical missions,” he said. “Ang mahalaga ‘yung long-term po.
