GMA Network rounded out another milestone year in 2016, leading competition in nationwide TV ratings based on full year data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. For the period January to December 2016 (with December 25 to 31 based on overnight data), GMA registered a total day people audience share of 37.3 percent in NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement), ahead of ABS-CBN’s 37.1 percent. GMA grabbed the nationwide lead from ABS-CBN based on people shares in September 2016, consistently increasing margins over competition since then. GMA’s remarkable performance in the fourth quarter drove the Network’s full year ratings dominance. Leading across all dayparts, GMA recorded a people share of 40.3 percent in the fourth quarter, outranking ABS-CBN’s 35.2 percent by 5.1 points. Coming from a 5.1-share point lead over ABS-CBN in November in NUTAM, GMA scored its strongest performance in 2016

last December with a people audience share of 41.7 percent, or a 7.8-point margin over ABS-CBN’s 33.9 percent. GMA’s Christmas special, The Magic of Christmas, and its New Year countdown, Lipad Sa 2017, beat all other programs in their timeslots. In Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of all viewers in urban TV homes in the country, GMA sustained its strong showing as its full year 2016 people share reached 42.6 percent, 11.2 points more than the competitor’s 31.4 percent. GMA won against ABS-CBN in all dayparts in Urban Luzon from January to December 2016. Meanwhile, the Kapuso Network opens the New Year on an exciting note with a new line-up of programs starting off with the light romantic-drama, Meant to Be, topbilled by Barbie Forteza. Also in the offing are, among others, the muchawaited first TV series of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, Destined To Be Yours, as well as the Filipino adaptation of the phenomenal Koreanovela My Love From The Star, starring Jennylyn Mercado and Gil Cuerva.

GMA launches a one-of-a-kind comedy game show entitled People vs. The Stars, premiering January 15. The program pits celebrities against the viewers for a chance to win cash prizes via a variety of brain teasers. If the stars fail to answer them correctly, the question’s cash value will then be given to its audience by answering the question of the week. James’ performance was one of the highlights during the two-day event organized by the Philippine Fiesta of Victoria, Inc., which also featured talent shows and food exhibits that showcased the vibrant Filipino culture. Spreading the message of GMA Network’s Christmas theme, “Maniwala sa Magic ng Pasko,” the Kapuso corps of employeevolunteers GMA G.I.V.E.S. (Guide, Interact, Volunteer, Educate, Serve), organized two Christmas outreach activities in 2016. On December 11, the volunteers trooped to the Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong to spread joy, hope, and love among the children of the inmates. The volunteers provided games and entertainment during the program and helped distribute Noche Buena packages donated by the GMA Kapuso Foundation through its Gift-A-Gift: Alay sa Batang Pinoy project. A week after, the volunteers shared their Saturday morning with one hundred children from impoverish families under the care of Food for the Hungry Philippines in Tanza, Navotas. The children were treated to a program with entertainment numbers and games as well as food. They also received Christmas gift packs from the volunteers.
