MA Network continued its stronghold in the key areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in June, according to the latest data from ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. From June 1 to 29 (with June 23 to 29 based on overnight data), GMA posted an average total day people audience share of 35.3 percent, which outscored ABS-CBN’s 30.7 percent in Urban Luzon. The viewer-rich area accounts for 72 percent of all urban TV viewers in the country. The Kapuso Network led in the afternoon block with 36.3 percent audience share, versus rival network’s 32.9 percent. GMA Network also posted winning numbers in the evening block with 38.1 percent as against ABS-CBN’s 30 percent. Kapuso shows again dominated Urban Luzon’s list of top-rating programs in June with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS) remaining unbeatable in the number one spot. KMJS was likewise the most watched program in National Urban Philippines.
Included in the list as well were Sahaya, Kara Mia, 24 Oras, Daddy’s Gurl, Magpakailanman, Starstruck, Pepito Manaloto, Love You Two, and Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko. Eat Bulaga, Studio 7, Kapuso Movie Night, Imbestigador, Amazing Earth, Bihag, Wowowin, and Bubble Gang also made it to the top programs list. Similarly, GMA Network ruled in Mega Manila, which accounts for 60 percent of all urban viewers in the country. Based on official data from June 1 to 22, GMA recorded 36.3 percent average total day people audience share, beating the 28.8 percent of ABS-CBN. In Mega Manila’s list of top-rating programs, 21 out of the top 30 shows were from GMA. Nielsen TV Audience Measurement’s client pool covers a total of 32 clients/ subscribers consisting of 6 local TV networks including ABS-CBN, TV5, Aksyon TV and CNN Philippines, among others; 3 regional clients; 2 blocktimers; and 21 agencies (17 media agencies, 3 consulting agencies, and 1 digital agency).

MA Network’s Entertainment Group inked a partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the highly-anticipated Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean drama series, Descendants of the Sun. Present during the MOA signing last June 20, at the GMA Network Center were Major General Bienvenido R. Datuin, Jr., Commander of Civil Relations Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines
(CRSAFP); GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable; GMA Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie A. ctor and performer Jon Lucas received a warm Kapuso welcome as he officially inked a contract with GMA Artist Center yesterday, July 2. Jon is grateful and excited to be finally part of the GMA family, “Napakahalaga sa’kin ng chance na ito, ang dami kong hinintay at hiniling, kaya ibibigay ko talaga ‘yung best ko rito.” For Jon’s first project as a Kapuso, he will be joining the stellar cast of the upcoming Filipino adaptation of the Korean series ‘Descendants of the Sun’ headlined by Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes together with Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Rocco Nacino, and many more. He is already preparing for his character as Staff Sergeant Benjo Tamayo a.k.a. Harry Potter, “May training po kami sa military, hindi

She revealed she’s now ready to take on challenges that would enhance her versatility in acting, “I think I’m at the age na where I can be daring and I can be pa-sweet. Actually ang pinakadream role ko talaga is ‘yung maging psycho kasi sobrang challenging niya and mahilig akong manood ng mga documentaries online tulad ng Netflix and learning their stories.” Meanwhile, Faith who plays Fareeda in the epic primetime series Sahaya, feels grateful to the Network for giving her another year to prove herself and she looks forward to this new chapter in her career. “I’m very thankful for this opportunity. I will do everything to give my best in every project. Everytime na umaarte ako, ‘yung puso ko and ‘yung nararamdaman ko iisa - masaya ‘yung nafi-feel ko at masaya akong may mga napapasaya akong tao.” On the other hand, Ana expressed her gratitude to GMA for entrusting her the role of Nancy in the newest primetime drama, The Better Woman. “It’s very challenging but at the same, it’s also a big opportunity that I am able to work with them even if I’m still new in the industry. I’m really thankful for this project,” shared Ana.

GMA is First Philippine Network to Premiere in India

MA Network marks another first as it sold four of its dramas to India, the second most populous country in the world. In a deal brokered by GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI), GMA’s content distribution subsidiary, two major Over-the-Top (OTT) streaming service providers in India will carry over 300 hours of the Network’s content. GWI entered into a licensing agreement with MX Player, considered as India’s most premium OTT platform. MX Player is owned by Times Internet, the digital media division of Times Group, India’s largest media conglomerate. Starting August, GMA-produced content will be available for viewing to MX Player’s impressive 350+ million users in India across different platforms, including Android, iOS, and PC. The titles licensed by GWI to MX Player are GMA’s hit romance comedies Meant To Be and Juan Happy Love Story. In another deal, GWI expanded its license agreement with GagaOOLala, Asia’s first and biggest LGBTQ-focused streaming platform to make available to India the groundbreaking and critically-acclaimed dramas My Husband’s Lover and The Rich Man’s Daughter beginning June. Owned by Taipei-based distribution company Portico Media, GagaOOLala entered the Indian OTT market after the country decriminalized homosexuality in 2018.

Kapuso Foundation’s Rebuild Marawi Project Gets Help From The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

MA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) is joining hands with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for its ‘Rebuild Marawi Project’, an on-going rebuilding and rehabilitation program in public elementary schools in Marawi City. Present in the memorandum of agreement signing were GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki EscuderoCatibog (center), with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf’s VP for Marketing and Business Development Paolo Del Rosario (left) and Brand Manager Kim Cruz (right). The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and GMAKF, respectively through their Caring Cup and Rebuild Dreams in Marawi campaigns, are encouraging customers to donate by adding
any amount on top of their in-store purchases nationwide. The proceeds will go to raising funds for upcycled chairs and tables that will be provided to three public elementary schools in Marawi City. The campaign runs from July 1 until Sept 30, 2019. With the help of multi-sectoral partners, GMAKF was the first foundation to turnover a new school building in Marawi city, a year after its liberation. MA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) held a groundbreaking ceremony for Datu Saber Elementary School’s new building in Marawi City. Led by GMAKF EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog last June 14, the momentous event was made possible in partnership with the Embassy
of Japan in the Philippines, AFPWestern Mindanao Command, AFP55th Engineering Brigade Batallion, AFP-103rd Infantry Brigade, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Manila Water Foundation, United Architects of the Philippines - Emergency Architects, NKD International Trading Corporation / Lotus Tools Philippines, Envirotech Waste Recycling Inc, DepEd, DENR, DPWH, the Provincial Government of Lanao del Sur, and the Local Government of Marawi City.
A memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was also held during the groundbreaking ceremony between GMAKF and the stakeholders of Datu Saber Elementary School – the provincial and city LGUs, DepEd BARMM, DepEd Marawi and DPWH. GMAKF is set to build a smart space threestorey public elementary school building designed by the United Architects of the Philippines-Emergency Architects which stands on a 330 square meter lot. Despite the small lot area, the Kapuso school will have a total of 7 classrooms plus 1 principal/teachers’ room, segregated male and female restrooms, a library built into the stairway, vertical garden, canteen, stage, and an open space for school activities.
