Recently, I was reading an article about organizational loyalty and how it is important to a company’s success. Alas, said the article, more and more people were becoming loyal to their careers instead of their companies. So, it got me to thinking about people and how long they stay in their respective companies; it prodded me to look at my place of employment, too. In GMA, I am quite happy to share, loyalty to the company is still a reality. After all, among GMA Network’s core value is, “We value our People as our best assets.” A manifestation of this is the Service Awards where Kapuso employees who have been with the Network for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years are honored during the Second Quarter General Assembly. This year, practically the entire GMA community paid tribute to some 500 employees for their years of loyalty and dedication in providing the Filipino viewers with Serbisyong Totoo, both in front of and behind the cameras. As FLG (Felipe L. Gozon, Chairman and CEO, GMA Network) said in his speech that afternoon in reference to the Service Awardees, “Malaking bahagi kayo ng tagumpay ng GMA Network at hindi matatawaran ang inyong loyalty at dedication.” At the General Assembly, the employees had a great time applauding their colleagues who celebrated milestones in their careers. We were also in stitches,

laughing at Donita Rose’s spiels and antics – indeed, the lovely VJ is still as vivacious a host now as she was when she lorded it over the MTV era. The GA being the venue for reporting business updates, FLG also took the time to share these key points, in his own words: On the business side, “Malamang kaysa hindi ay makamit natin ang ating sales and net income targets this year.” And, finally, on the much talked about Ramon Ang entry into the Network, “Totoo ngang nagkasundo ang Jimenez, Gozon at Duavit groups na magbenta ng participating minority shares kay Mr. Ang. True to the Pinoy way of celebrating, the GA ended with food – lots and lots of burgers and fries and chicken nuggets to share!

Accredited Suppliers Assembly GMA Network’s Supplies and Asset Management Department (SAMD) recently organized a general assembly of accredited suppliers. No less than GMA’s EVP & CFO Felipe S. Yalong addressed the suppliers, assuring them of transparency of all business dealings. Part of the assembly was a brief presentation on the Integrity Initiative, a private-sector led movement to eradicate corruption. GMA Network is the first broadcast company that signed this pledge in 2010. Today, around 1,800 companies have already signed the Integrity Pledge. In photo are (L-R): Ronaldo P. Mastrili (GMA SVP for Finance and ICT - left), Felipe S. Yalong (GMA EVP and CFO - 6TH from left) and Vicky T. Arradaza (GMA VP for Supply and Asset - right) with select GMA suppliers.

Ping, Ping, Ping!

-- Ang Tatlong Taong Sikreto ng ‘Idol sa Kusina’ By Fel Siao, www.gmanetwork.com/community/articles/2014-07-04/1394/Ping-pingping-Ang-tatlong-taong-sikreto-ng-idol-sa-Kusina

What Do TomCar have in Common?

By CJ Mendoza, www.gmanetwork.com/ community/articles/2014-07-16/1407/Whatdo-TomCar-have-in-common Their good looks and acting prowess, their “lakas maka-good vibes” aura, their killer charm… aside from these salient points, what else do Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana have in common?

1. They both have been part of the groundbreaking TV series My Husband’s Lover. While they both have been TV actors for years, Carla Abellana top billing Rosalinda, Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Langit, and Makapiling Kang Muli, and Tom Rodriguez starring in various TV programs in another network, it’s no contest that their roles in My Husband’s Lover are their biggest to date. Carla’s acting prowess was challenged by her role as Lally while Tom made noise by playing the unconventional character Vincent.

2. They are both bedimpled.

“He has brought the culinary world to the people,” sabi ni Donita Rose patungkol sa Idol sa Kusina Chef Boy Logro.

This time, reward na ito. GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE |JULY 2014 ISSUE

Tom has one on his right cheek while Carla has a pair. Don’t you think that this facial feature is more than a random coincidence? Perhaps, it’s an uncanny sign of destiny?

3. They both have foreign blood in their genes. Carla has German and Spanish blood while Tom is born to an American father and Filipina mother.

4. They both are in their late 20’s. Carla just turned 28 last June 12 while Tom is turning 27 this coming October.

5. They both graduated from college. Carla proves that she is beauty and brains in one! She graduated cum laude with a degree of BA Psychology from De la Salle University. On the other hand, Tom took his creativity into consideration and got a digital animation degree from University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona.

6. They are both pet lovers. Carla has a pet dog named Sunny while Tom’s shih tzu is named Bubbly!

7. They are both recently-single. Carla broke up with boyfriend of three years Geoff Eigenmann last April while Tom Rodriguez recently announced his break-up with girlfriend and Kapuso actress Kaye Rivera. It would be perfect if they could nurse each other’s hearts, right? There you have it! We think seven similarities are enough to say that they are each other’s destiny! Well, at least on TV! Do catch them every night as Grace and Matthew in My Destiny.

Solenn Heussaff brought color to the lives of children ages 5-10 years old from Barangay Daang Tubo, Quezon City at the GMA G.I.V.E.S. Salu-Salo Together held recently at the GMA Network Center. Artistry and creativity was the theme of the second quarter Salu-Salo Together as Solenn taught 64 children how to paint on canvas using acrylic paint and oil pastel. She was assisted by the GMA G.I.V.E.S. members, who also donated the materials used by the children for the activity. Solenn was eager to impart the knowledge that she gained throughout her years of dabbling in the arts. “I love painting din so it’s nice to share what you know to others,” she expressed. Her passion for painting started when she was just 3 years old but she never had any formal lessons. Over the years, she has painted a variety of subjects ranging from landscapes to abstracts and murals. The kids were very excited to learn from their favorite Kapuso star, focusing on their individual canvases and applying the techniques Solenn taught them to their works of art that day. Solenn also showed them the paintings she did when she was around 7 or 8 years old. “It teaches them to be quiet din. Kasi diba yung ibang mga bata, makulit,” Solenn shared. “But if you see them, once nasa harap sila ng painting nila, super quiet sila, super focused.” The art worskhop was just the right timing as Solenn is preparing for her very first show. At the end of the art workshop, prizes were given out to three young artists whose works scored the highest number of votes among the members of GMA G.I.V.E.S.

The children were also able to take home the materials they used so that they can continue exploring the world of art.

A Fun-filled Activity

The Spirit of Volunteerism

At the end of the workshop, 3 paintings were selected by GMA GIVES volunteers as the most creative artworks.

Members of GMA GIVES took time to help and guide the kids in their painting workshop.

Goodie bags were awarded to the kids by GMA AVP for Corporate Affairs Teresa Pacis and Solenn Heussaff.

Art materials used by the children were also provided by the employee volunteers.
