GMA Heart of Asia Brings Back Secret Garden on Philippine TV

S

ecret Garden is an award-winning romantic comedy featuring Hyun Bin, popularly known as Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok of Crash Landing On You and Cyrus of My Name is Kim Sam Soon, and Ha Ji Won, lead star of Hwang Jini. A magical accident intertwines the fates, and even the hearts, of Owen (Hyun Bin) and Jamie (Ha Ji Won), two people from very different backgrounds. Owen is an eccentric bachelor who is about to inherit his family’s department store business. Although he is annoyingly arrogant and lazy, his employees respect him for his smartness. On the other hand, Jamie is not the average, girly kind of woman. She is very unique in many ways - she is an orphan, stuntwoman, and principled person altogether. Coming from opposite worlds, Owen and Jamie often argue and mock each other until their bodies get switched when they woke up one morning. Witness how this magical twist opens their eyes and hearts to each other as they live the other person’s life in the much-awaited comeback of Secret Garden after Stairway to Heaven on GMA’s Afternoon Prime block.

The former The Clash Season 1 contestant is also the composer of her new song, which tells a melodramatic story about memories that people cling onto. She shares, “The chorus part says ‘gunita minsa’y masaya, sana laging masaya’ that time I just wished I only have happy memories. Cause we all have our downs and dark pasts that aren’t worth remembering and we just want to forget all about it. But memories last a lifetime.” Gunita is available for streaming on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, and other digital stores worldwide.

For celebrity fathers Pancho Magno, Mike Tan, Rodjun Cruz, and Neil Ryan Sese, even though they juggle busy work schedules, they make sure that every moment with their children becomes precious. We asked these Kapuso dads on what pieces of advice they would give their younger selves before entering parenthood. Each father has unique experiences with parenthood but these Kapuso dads have one thing in common: their selfless love when it comes to their children, whom they believe are their lifelong treasures. Pancho is set to meet his baby boy with wife and fellow GMA Artist Center talent Max Collins this July. He shared what expectations he sets for himself once he meets their child, “I just want to be a strict but loving dad.” Moreover, if there’s one thing he realizes now that he is about to become a father, it is: “that everything we do or we instill to our kids will be passed on the next generation.”

“I love you both more than you’ll ever know,” wrote Mike in his touching letter for his daughters. Mike is dad of two girls, Victoria and Priscilla.

RODJUN CRUZ

Soon-to-be father Rodjun, is ecstatic to play the different roles fatherhood can bring, “I would tell my younger self that fatherhood is about being a role model, a superhero, and a protector at the same time. I also always believed that fatherhood is about being the provider of the family. He is also the one who takes responsibility for keeping the family together and intact.” Rodjun tied the knot with actress Dianne Medina who is now pregnant with their first child. This big leap in his life shows the best out of Rodjun. He added, “I never knew that I could love someone so much even if he/she wasn’t born yet. I am more inspired to do good and work even harder. I want to be just like my parents on how they raised us. I want to be the best version of myself for my child, not only the best dad but also a superhero he/she could ever have.”

MIKE TAN

Meanwhile, Mike grew nostalgic as he recalled the days before his children turned his life around. He said to his younger self, “When children enter your life, you become a different person entirely. You wake up everyday realizing that all your actions, decisions, even your word choices impact your children. How you choose to spend your time will affect them. Don’t miss the small window of opportunity to bond with kids while they still like spending time with you.” Mike is a father of two adorable daughters, Victoria and Priscilla. In addition, he also wanted to remind others that there are realizations coming

GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE |JUNE 2020 ISSUE

along the way when one becomes a father, “you will realize that children are precious, faultless little beings who did not choose to be born so it is your responsibility to plan your life around them and not have them adjust to yours. Your life will drastically change but it will change for the better. You will be better for your children who will inspire you to be nothing but that.”

NEIL RYAN SESE

As for Neil, fatherhood may be overwhelming at first, but he describes it as “the best chapter” of his life. Even though it means putting the kids’ welfare above self, he said he wouldn’t trade having to be with them for anything. “Being a father is a great privilege, but requires great responsibility too. From a ‘me’ perspective it will change to a ‘we’ perspective. Being a dad is learning to slow down and enjoy every moment with your kids. Spend time with them as much as you can because time flies and they grow up so fast.” The veteran actor is a doting dad to daughter Kahlia and son Gabriel. Neil pushes himself to excel in what he does not for fame, recognition, nor money. He works hard because of his purpose for his family, “I look at life differently. I am more driven and realized that my success has an impact on the lives of my kids. My kids are my inspiration, they are the reason why I strive to be a better person and feel grateful every single day.”
