GMA Network Remains Unrivaled in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in February PiliPinas Debates 2016 tops nationwide ratings

MA Network sustained its total-day lead in the viewer-rich areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila in February, based on household data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. From February 1 to 29 (with February 21 to 29 based on overnight data), GMA led in Urban Luzon with an average household audience share of 40.1 percent, up 7.1 points from ABS-CBN’s 33 percent, and 33.1 points higher than TV5’s 7 percent. Urban Luzon accounts for 77 percent of the total urban TV households nationwide. GMA also remained largely ahead of competition in Mega Manila, which makes up 60 percent of the urban TV household population in the country. GMA registered 41.7 percent, leading ABS-CBN’s 30.2 percent by 11.5 points and TV5’s 7.4 percent by 34.3 points. GMA bested other networks across all day parts in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila. The Kapuso Network, meanwhile, continued to be the most watched channel among national urban viewers during daytime. GMA posted a 33 percent household share in the morning block

GMA successfully mounted the first leg of “PiliPinas Debates 2016” on February 21 in Cagayan de Oro City together with its print media partner Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI). The live coverage of the debate organized by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), GMA, and PDI garnered a commanding 24.8 percent household rating (based on overnight data) in NUTAM, and a notable 30.5 percent in Urban Mindanao, where it rated highest among all areas.

ward-winning comedian and TV host Michael V. remains a loyal Kapuso. At the contract signing, Michael V. thanked GMA for taking good care of his career all these years, “GMA ang nagbigay talaga sa akin ng pinakamagandang break, kaya hindi mawawala ang loyalty. More than work ang relationship, beyond friendship na nga.” Michael V. stars in the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang, family-oriented sitcom Pepito Manaloto, and hosts the comedy-musical competition Lip Sync Battle Philippines.

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid makes a GMA Telebabad comeback via the romantic comedy series Poor Señorita, premiering March 28 after 24 Oras. Poor Señorita tells the story of Rita Villon (played by Regine), a rich owner of a perfume company who suddenly loses all her wealth. In her journey, Rita stumbles upon five street children who help her get
back on her feet. She develops affection for the kids from whom she learns the true value of happiness. n celebration of the Kapuso month last February, Kapuso actress and host Solenn Heussaff starred in a series of shows for Filipinos in London, Rome, Paris, and Copenhagen. The European caravan featuring Solenn was organized by GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV (GPTV), in partnership with Prismworks Productions and Lyca TV. Lyca TV is the world’s largest ethnic content online entertainment provider which allows Kapuso viewers to enjoy their favorite programs not just at home, but also on their mobile devices. GMA’s three international channels, GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV and GMA News TV International were launched in over 16 countries in Europe last September 2015. Solenn’s first stop was the United Kingdom, where she, together with GMA First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia and the GPTV team, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Enrique Manalo, Philippine Ambassador to the Court of St. James. Solenn performed for esteemed guests at ENFID-UK’s “Fab @ Four” event at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury. Italy was Solenn’s next destination where she entertained overseas Filipino workers via the show dubbed, “Ciao, Rome!” arranged by Dreamers Productions. Spreading the Kapuso spirit on the eve of Valentine’s Day, Solenn performed alongside local performers and thrilled the crowd at the Sala Ouverture Roma with her sexiness and energy. On February 14, Solenn celebrated the Day of Love in the most romantic city in the world, Paris. Joining her fellow French-Filipinos in “Handog 2015: Philippine-Paris Ball” in Club Haussmann, Solenn was a hit among the audience, who loved her rendition of a classic French song. The evening’s festivities recognized exceptional Filipinos, as well as Filipino community organizations and businesses in France. Before heading back to Manila, Solenn had one final stop in Denmark on February 16 for “Hej, Copenhagen!” held at the Sankt Annæ Kirke, in cooperation with the Filipino Danish Center. Solenn was the highlight of the night, which also recognized the community works of the Filipino Danish Center and the launch of GMA Pinoy TV in the country. Honorary Consul Poul Krogh was among the special guests for the night. The Kapuso caravan in Europe was also staged in partnership with local community organisers European Network of Filipino Diaspora (ENFiD) UK Dreamers Productions and the Filipino Danish Center.

n celebration of World Water Day, GMA G.I.V.E.S. (Guide, Interact, Volunteer, Educate, Serve), GMA Network’s corps of employee-volunteers, planted over a thousand propagules along the coastline of Kawit, Cavite last March 12 to help reforest the mangroves. GMA G.I.V.E.S. joined volunteers from Maynilad, DENRPENRO, Kawit LGU, and Cavite Maritime Police during the activity which was spearheaded by Maynilad through its Plant for Life Mangrove Planting Program.
