Remains unrivalled in viewer-rich Urban Luzon and Mega Manila
GMA Network reigned supreme in nationwide TV ratings for 2015, based on data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement. GMA bested other networks in average household audience share with 35.4 percent, beating ABS-CBN’s 34.9 percent and TV5’s 9.2 percent. GMA overtook its closest rival in NUTAM in September 2015, and has since sustained nationwide ratings leadership.

Full year 2015 data also show that GMA remains the undisputed number one TV network in viewer-rich Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, leading across all dayparts, including primetime. Urban Luzon accounts for 77 percent of all urban TV households in the country, while Mega Manila represents 59 percent. Urban Luzon continues to be a strong area for GMA as the Kapuso Network registered 39.7 percent household audience share, surpassing ABS-CBN’s 30.6 percent by 9.1 points and TV5’s 8.2 percent by 31.5 points. GMA also remains dominant in Mega Manila with 41.7 percent, up 14.7 points from ABS-CBN’s 27 percent and 33.2 points from TV5’s 8.5 percent. The lists of top programs for full year 2015 in Urban Luzon and Mega Manila are also dominated by the Kapuso Network.

Regine Renews with GMA Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid recently signed another two-year exclusive contract with GMA Network, Inc. Regine is happy to renew her contract with GMA 7 which has been her home network for almost two decades, “I am happy na dito pa rin ako sa GMA. I’ve been working with the network for almost 20 years. I know practically all the people, the bosses…I’m very grateful na hindi nila ako masyadong pine-pressure. They’ve been very good to me. For four years, I was given time to be with my son. I was given a very relaxed schedule which I really, really appreciate. Ngayong taon pa lang ako ulit magfu-full blast na magtatrabaho. I’m also excited to go back to work.”

GMA Network opens 2016 with the new Afternoon Prime series, Wish I May. The series stars Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali, who portray young lovers Tristan and Carina. Other cast members include Camille Prats, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Mark Herras, Alessandra de Rossi, Glydel Mercado, Rochelle Pangilinan, Neil Ryan Sese, Juan Rodrigo, Marni Lapuz, Ash Ortega, Sancho delas Alas, and Prince Villanueva. Wish I May tells the story of Olivia (Camille Prats) who lost her daughter, Carina, because her father was against her relationship with Clark (Mark Anthony). After many years, Olivia searches for her child but her rare condition (Chimerism – having 2 sets of DNA) prevents her from claiming maternal rights to her daughter. Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo had our kababayans in Dubai on their feet at the Bayanihan Festival 2015, which was held last December 4, 2015 at Al Mamzar Park. Dennis left none of his fans disappointed, gamely taking photos with them during and after the show.

Meanwhile, Kapuso leading man Mikael Daez and comedian Betong Sumaya brought fun and laughter to the Philippine Fiesta sa Dammam last December 18. The show was a fitting tribute to hardworking overseas Filipino workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who warmly received the guest stars. Both Mikael and Betong proved to be a hit among the audience; some even got the chance to join the stars onstage! GMA Pinoy TV’s 10th year #SAMPUSO celebrations may have come to an end, but GMA’s flagship international channel will continue to create memories with its subscribers all over the world this 2016. CHRISTMAS OUTREACH
In line with GMA’s Christmas theme, MaGMAhalan Tayo Ngayong Pasko, GMA GIVES, the Kapuso Network’s corps of employee-volunteers, showered children under the care of the Food for the Hungry Philippines (an international non-profit organization dedicated to providing health, education, food and security needs of marginalized children) with holiday cheer and precious lessons on caring for the environment. The Christmas outreach started with a story-telling session with Mang Tani. Kapuso’s resident meteorologist read the story, “Ilaw sa Isla,” which focused on climate change. Next, the young boys and girls were taught how to plant vegetables in their own backyard, in pots made from discarded plastic bottles. Finally, it was a simple lunch but with games and entertainment numbers from rising Kapuso talent, Denise Barbacena and Startruck Avenger Kevin Sagra. Kapuso leading man Rocco Nacino led the distribution of Noche Buena loot bags.
