In Urban Luzon, which accounts for 77 percent of the total urban TV household population in the country, GMA reigned supreme with an average people audience share of 47.3 percent, outranking ABS-CBN’s 29.1 percent. The Kapuso Network also led across all dayparts in the said viewer-rich area, where 24 out of 30 top rating programs were from GMA. Topping the list are primetime programs Encantadia and Destined To Be Yours. Recently launched programs Legally Blind, Saturday comedy-musical show Full House Tonight, and crime documentary drama Case Solved also made it to the list of top programs. Meanwhile, GMA Worldwide Inc. (GWI) Vice President Roxanne J. This is a first for GMA in Latin America,” she said.
“A seed has been planted in that part of the world and we hope that it grows and opens more doors for GMA’s content. It proves that our stories can travel well across all cultures. A special thank you to Jose Escalante of Latin Media Corp., who helped us make this happen,” Barcelona acknowledged. Hanggang Makita Kang Muli, which launched in the Philippines in March 2016, is being aired with the title Cautiva or ‘Captive’ in English. Wowowin’s Worldwide Tour Event in Abu Dhabi a Huge Success An overwhelming number of Kapuso fans herded to Abu Dhabi National Theater to personally experience Wowowin’s brand of fun and entertainment last February 17. Energetic crowds filled the afternoon and evening shows, which were led by the ever charismatic Willie Revillame with cohosts Donita Nose, Super Tekla, Kimchi, Ariella Arida, and Randy Santiago. The worldwide tour stop in Abu Dhabi was a dream come true for many GMA Pinoy TV subscribers in the Middle East who have been clamoring to see their beloved “Kuya Wil” in the flesh. For them, Willie, through Wowowin, helps cure their homesickness as they are always reminded of home whenever they watch the daily Kapuso show. Willie and his team were warmly welcomed by fans upon their arrival in Abu Dhabi a few days before the event. On the event date, thousands of fans went to the venue in rented buses and cars way ahead of the shows’ schedule, not minding the long waiting time. Some fans came in wearing Encantadia costumes to show their love for Kapuso programs while a group of students from Abu Dhabi treated the crowd to a vibrant performance at the theater lobby. Contributing to Wowowin’s huge success were its simple yet exciting segments such as “Hephep Hooray”,“Bigyan ng Jacket” and “Putukan Na” combined with the hosts’ hilarious antics, which surely kept the contestants and the spectators entertained. More importantly, the show served as a venue for Filipinos to share their stories about being abroad and help fellow Oversees Filipino Workers (OFW) cope with their struggles. Willie got the chance to talk to Lina Villalon, a widower and a “master cutter” in Abu Dhabi, about having no choice

but to go overseas to send her 4 children to school. She proudly shared that all her children are now professionals. A video message of her daughter was flashed onscreen affirming how good Nanay Lina is as a mother. One of the contestants, Simonette Prendol, used to be a hospital receptionist before she was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer last December. In an interview with Willie, she said that she’d rather go home to her kids but could not do so because she spends most of her savings to her chemotherapy sessions. Willie gave him the signature Wowowin jacket along with a plane ticket and $500 so she can reunite with her family in the Philippines. A member of the audience also went onstage to give her financial help. As the show concluded, Willie Revillame expressed his gratitude to all GMA Pinoy TV supporters and OSN subscribers in the Middle East who attended their first worldwide tour. “Maraming salamat po sa GMA Pinoy TV, sa tiwala po nila na kami ay nakapag-show para sa inyo… Nandito kami para pasayahin kayo. It’s a reunion ng ating mga Kapuso’t kababayang katulad niyo. It’s a party place, it’s a party day para po sa inyong lahat,” he reiterated. On the other hand, GMA First Vice President for International Operations Joseph T. Francia thanked the GMA Pinoy TV supporters in Abu Dhabi. “Thank you for coming tonight. Alam kong matagal niyong hinintay si Willie, kaya sana natuwa kayo. Hindi magiging posible ito kung hindi ninyo inaabangan ang programa niya sa GMA Pinoy TV na nasa OSN. GMA Pinoy TV online and social media followers expressed how delightful they were for having Wowowin in Abu Dhabi. “Salamat po ng marami sa inyo. OFWs really need a break especially from stress. Napasaya n’yo po kami. Maraming salamat lalo na kay Willie at kina Direk Randy at Direk Adrian Gret sa mabuting pakikisama sa amin. Mabuhay po kayo and may God bless you all and continue to help those who are in need,” Richelle Pliego Valenzuela said in a Facebook comment. Another OFW Razel Policarpio was also thankful to the show for reducing her homesickness. “Nakabawas ng homesick! Salamat po, Wowowin,” she exclaimed. Jem Jella Samson Dagodog said that she looks forward to seeing the show return to Abu Dhabi. “Maraming salamat sa pagbibigay saya sa aming OFWs, abangan namin ang inyong muling pagpunta dito sa Abu Dhabi. Tiangco, GMAKF Executive Vice President and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, GMA Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angela Javier Cruz, and PRC Quezon City Chapter Vice Chairman Gov. Nesty Isla in the ceremonial turnover of blood bag donations
For GMA Network, giving blood is not only an expression of love, but also a selfless act that could save another person’s life. In celebration of the love month, GMA successfully held its annual Kapuso Bloodletting Day at the Network’s headquarters in Quezon City as well as in the regional stations in Dagupan, Ilocos, Naga, Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, and General Santos. The event, which concluded last February 10, produced a total of 1,638 (737,100 cc) blood bags. The Kapuso Bloodletting Day is annually organized by GMA’s Corporate Affairs Division, with the help of the Network’s socio-civic arm GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) and GMA Regional TV Department, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross (PRC). More GMA employees, along with their families and friends, were able to donate this year, surpassing last year’s total turnout of 1,580 (711,000 cc) blood bags. Present during the Kapuso Bloodletting Day in GMA’s Quezon City compound were GMA Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angela Javier Cruz, GMAKF Founder and Ambassador Mel C. Tiangco, GMAKF Executive Vice President
and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog, PRC National Blood Services Director Dr. Christie Monina Nalupta, PRC Quezon City Chapter Vice Chairman Gov. Nesty Isla, and PRC Quezon City Chapter Administrator Amparo Perez. The program was hosted by Ms. Shirley Escalante with Kapuso artist Bea Binene, who has been actively participating GMAKF’s activities since she was 7 years old. Also spotted in the event were Jay Arcilla and GMA News Anchor Raffy Tima who is a regular blood donor. Tiangco expressed her appreciation to fellow Kapuso nationwide for continuously supporting the activity. “You don’t need to be rich to be able to help the poor. This is the best way to help others without even spending anything,” she said in her speech during the turnover ceremony. “At the top of that, you are also giving a part of yourself which is such a noble act. Giving away a part of yourself to those in need will bring us to heaven and blessings will overflow. We are thankful for all of you especially now that our donors today are from GMA,” Tiangco added. Dr. Nalupta also articulated how grateful she is about the strong ties they have with GMA. “We are thankful for the love being given to us through projects like Sagip Dugtong Buhay and the Kapuso GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE |MARCH 2017 ISSUE

Meanwhile, another successful bloodletting activity also concluded last February 18 with GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Sagip Dugtong Buhay held at Ever Gotesco Mall in Commonwealth, Quezon City.
