Gozon underscored the important role of each partner institution in safeguarding the ballot and in standing for truth. “The pace of information is quicker than ever. New ways to share facts and ideas continue to emerge. While this may be a good thing, many believe, however, that this has also helped blur the line between truth and lies. In the face of this reality, our commitment to the truth is unwavering” he said, citing the challenging times nations all over the world face with the spread of false information. “Sama-sama nating ‘Pusuan ang Totoo,’” he urged the partners present during the signing. “Now, more than ever, we remain steadfast in delivering an election coverage with no spins or personal agenda – truthfully, accurately, comprehensively, and driven only by Serbisyong Totoo,” Gozon said. Unang Hirit Unveils “Sorpresayang Pasko”

Waking up to a cool morning breeze means Christmas is coming. It is also that time of the year for Filipinos’ favorite morning show Unang Hirit to delight viewers with the sounds of a Yuletide jingle. Last November 5, the country’s longest running morning show kicked off the week by unveiling its Christmas Opening Billboard this year, dubbed as “Sorpresayang Pasko.” “Sorpresayang Pasko” features a series of surprises, all done in the holiday spirit of giving back. The program installed a giant UH SorpreSaya Box in the middle of the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City, which, as its name implies,

stored a lot of special surprise gifts for Kapuso viewers. They were either invited to go there or happened to just passed by the area. Each lucky Kapuso received a memorable trinket from the UH SorpreSaya Box through UH remote hosts Boobay and Juancho Trivino. The surprises did not stop there though. Boobay and Juancho then revealed an even bigger treat—the UH barkada themselves! Arnold “Igan” Clavio and the rest of UH hosts Susan Enriquez, Rhea Santos, Connie Sison, Ivan Mayrina, Suzi Abrera, and Lyn Ching-Pascual came out of the giant UH SorpreSaya Box and greeted everyone in the area.

Kapuso fans got from the SorpreSaya Box had a corresponding “Kambal Sorpresa”. The lucky person who got the dipper or “tabo,” for one, also brought home a brand new washing machine; the one who picked an extension cord received a TV set; while the one who picked a cup of rice actual won a sack of rice, and so much more! Indeed, the “Sorpresayang Pasko” is Unang Hirit’s simple way of putting smiles on the faces of each and every Filipino— the people to whom the show owes its success as they have made UH their No. 1 source of news, information, and entertainment for the past 18 years.

They also delivered the exciting news that some of the simple items that GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE | NOVEMBER 2018 ISSUE

he Bro Next Door Papa JT, on the other hand, puts his talent to good use in the drama segments of ‘Barangay Love Stories’. “Being a voice actor gives me the confidence that I can do my job with certainty.” However, he admitted that juggling responsibilities is not easy. “The stress levels are significantly different, but it’s the good kind of stress. It does not feel like work for me,” assured Papa JT who can be heard daily on ‘Talk Back’ and ‘Sakto Mismo’ every Sunday.

Multi-awarded Kapuso actress Therese Malvar will be celebrating her 18th birthday with backto-back milestones in her career. After bagging the Best Supporting Actress award for both of her films, ‘School Service’ and ‘Distance,’ at this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival, Therese flew to Japan to represent the latter movie at the 2018 Tokyo Film Festival last October 26. This is her second time to represent a local film in the international scene. The Kapuso star has also become a household name in the local indie scene, and as she is bound for adulthood, her grit to keep doing what she loves and tell stories that represent different facets of life remain relentless. She will be sealing the year with a heart-warming drama with a powerhouse cast in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series entitled “Inagaw Na Bituin.”

GMA Worldwide, Inc. (GWI), content distribution arm of GMA Network, Inc. inked an exclusive distribution agreement with Chinese multi-media company FZ (Feng Zhi) Entertainment Co., Ltd. (FZ), last October 16 during MIPCOM 2018 in Palais des Festival, Cannes, France. The partnership between GWI and FZ was for the distribution in China of GMA’s

highest rating and most successful romantic comedy for 2018, “Happy Together” (Inday Will Always Love You) headlined by GMA actress Barbie Forteza. The signing ceremony coincided with China being celebrated as the country of honor in MIPCOM, the world’s biggest entertainment content market. China is a difficult market to penetrate for foreign content producers, but through GWI’s partnership with FZ, GMAproduced content will soon screen in China through pay TV and OTT-IPTV. This also expands GMA’s presence in the Asian region, enhancing its reputation as the premier source of quality Filipino content.

Representing the two companies during the signing ceremony were GWI’s Ms. Barcelona and FZ Entertainment’s CEO and Founder, Mr. Joshua Jiang. Standing as witnesses were Mr. Ling Li, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Mr. Paul Barbaro, Senior Sales Manager of MIP Markets, the organizers of MIPCOM. In a separate statement, GWI announced plans of distributing more GMA series in China, the next in line being “My Superstar” (That’s My Amboy) which also stars Barbie Forteza. MIPCOM is an annual trade show held in the French town of Cannes. It gathers representatives of television studios and broadcasters, producers, buyers and sellers of program and formats for international distribution.

Separate male and female toilets were provided per classroom out of respect for Muslim customs and tradition. GMAKF also turned over a new stage donated by Eat Bulaga, Alden Richards and Republic Cement. A Kapuso Lingap hand washing facility was also built courtesy of Manila Water Foundation while books and shelves for the school library were given by Children of Mindanao. Noche Buena packs were also distributed to all students as part of GMAKF’s ‘Give-A-Gift’ project.
