GMA Supports UPIS’ Adopt-A-Room

Despite his busy schedule in boxing and public service, Manny Pacquiao took time out to conduct a Bible sharing session recently in his home network, GMA-7.

Pacquiao focused on Joshua 1:8 which says “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” which sums up the way the boxing icon lives his life now – inspiring more people to follow the Bible. The event was attended by Kapuso employees and executives led by GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon.

In support of the UP Integrated School’s (UPIS) Adopt-A-Room program, GMA Network is funding the school’s Media Center Room which will be named GMA Network Room. COVER COVERSTORY STORY Marco Alcaraz, Debraliz, Ping Medina, Jan Manual, Vincent Magbanua and Lian Paz. Dondon Santos directs the series. Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko tells the story of Princess (Kris), a hardworking young woman who was orphaned at a young age. Despite growing up in a foster home, Princess is determined to succeed in life.

BRINGS INSPIRATION AND LOVE Love, inspiration and other positive values fill GMA Network’s new early primetime drama Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko, featuring the popular love team of Aljur

Abrenica and Kris Bernal and airing before 24 Oras. Other cast members include new Kapuso Renz Fernandez, LJ Reyes, Ms. Carmi Martin, Emilio Garcia, Martoni Fernandez,

In the orphanage, Princess meets Nick (Aljur), who often gets bullied by other kids. Princess defends Nick from the bullies and they become close friends. Princess and Nick are separated when Nick’s father, Roberto, takes him away. Years later, Princess leaves the orphanage and becomes a vendor in a flea market where her life’s adventures continue. And as expected, she crosses paths with Nick again.

Kikay Kris' New Beauty Discoveries Originally posted by Felyne Siao (Social Media Specialist) at www.gmanetwork.com The upcoming pre-primetime series “Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko” is set to entertain kikay viewers and has opened the door for lead actress Kris Bernal, leading her to some beauty discoveries..

She also loves blush-ons with either orange or peach tones because they complement her skin tone more than the ones that are very pink.

To prepare for her role, the actress immersed herself into the life of a beauty products sales representative. “Nag-workshop ako sa Avon at nakihalubilo sa mga representatives nila (also called Avon ladies). Tinuro nila sa akin kung paano magbenta, kung ano ‘yung pinakamabebenta ngayon, tsaka kung paano umunlad yung buhay nila sa Avon.”

Kris tried out the Grape Seed Vitamins. “Nakakaganda pala ng skin, na akala ko vitamins lang yung ok sa skin, yung multivitamins; pero yung seed pala ng grapes, maganda rin pala sa skin!” She was also amused by the type of hot tea that was given to her. “Uy! Ngayon lang ako nakakita ng hot tea na may glutathione! Nakakatuwa!”

Realizing that being a sales agent is no easy task, Kris vowed to exert extra effort to deliver convincing acting to give justice to her character. “Yung iba talagang milyonarya na, alam mo yun. So tinuruan ako kung pa’no nangyari yun. Inaaply ko siya sa Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko,” she said. When it comes to beauty products, Kris said she recently got hooked to lipsticks of different shades.

GMA KAPUSO MAGAZINE |SEPTEMBER 2013 ISSUE

She also just discovered the wonder of skin care products. “Dati hindi ako naggaganun, pero nung binigyan nila ako, sabi ko, ma-try ko nga ‘yung mga day creams, night creams na ‘yan...Tsaka yung mga sunblock na ‘yan. ‘Di kasi ako mahilig mag ganun dati,” Kris said. “Di ko alam na may mga ganun pa pala!” Want more information on Kris’ new beauty routine? Then “like” Prinsesa ng Buhay Ko’s official Facebook page, facebook.com/ GMAPrinsesaNgBuhayKo, and watch out for beauty tips that will course through that page once the show starts!

Q&A with GMA Davao’s Testigo Anchor

Tek Ocampo Q

&

A

W I T H

GMA Network’s local newscast in Davao is anchored by veteran newsman Tek Ocampo, who served as a TV reporter in Manila before returning to his homeland in the South.

Kapuso Magazine (KM) was able to chat with Tek. Below is the Q&A with the Testigo anchor.

the GMA Kapuso Foundation and other civic groups both from the government and non-government organizations. Testigo also participates in various civic activities, helping the marginalized sector by way of medical missions, bloodletting, gift giving and other activities. Testigo won as the Best Newscast in the 2001 Catholic Mass Media Awards, Davao City.

KM: What are the most challenging parts of your job as anchor? Why? (TO): To maintain credibility. We are all human beings subject to temptation, imperfections and commit mistakes along the way. However, with earned credibility, I must maintain a living example of how to be a true Kapuso - a Kapuso that is God fearing, family oriented, law abiding, compassionate and judicious. Being an Anchor comes with utmost trustworthiness that must be nurtured.

KM: What memorable issues/coverage has been aired by your program this year?

KM: What makes Testigo different from other local newscasts in Davao? TEK OCAMPO (TO): Testigo always adheres to the panata of GMA News and Public Affairs, “Walang Kinikilingan, Walang Pinoprotektahan, Walang Kasinungalingan Serbisyong Totoo lang.” Testigo provides our audience with fast and most accurate information of news stories. The Program aims to uphold the integrity of the Network as well as its status as the leading and undisputed news agency in Southern Mindanao. As part of Serbisyong Totoo, Testigo provides a venue for the people to air their complaints and concerns in their respective areas that need action from the local government and agencies concerned. It is a segment inspired by the “Nag-iisang Sumbungan ng Bayan – Imbestigador” of Mike Enriquez. Apart from providing credible newscast, Testigo also supports and implements various social programs as part of our corporate social responsibility such as assisting victims of calamity thru the initiative of

(TO): February 26-28 - when protesters Barog Katawhan and other militant groups with a number of Typhoon Pablo Victims rallied at the Department of Social Welfare and Development office in Davao City for three days. They were asking the government for their share of relief goods after the alleged failure of the DSWD to distribute food packs to legitimate Pablo Survivors. On the second day, they ransacked the DSWD office and carted away sacks of food packs. June 2 - when Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 971 skied off the runway at the Davao International Airport which resulted in the suspension of airport operation for almost 2 days.

KM: Why is it important to have a local newscast in Davao? (TO): Davaoenos and other provinces in Southern Mindanao must be informed and updated about the stories that affect the lives of the people in the communities. They deserved the quality and credibility of news that only GMA can deliver.

KM: What would you tell aspiring journalists in Davao who dream of becoming a news reporter/anchor someday? (TO): Joining the media is not a guarantee to have financial security. It is more of a calling rather than a job. At the end of the day, you will have that sense of fulfilment that you have done your part as a responsible journalist contributing to the betterment of our society. “Choose a Job you Love and you will never have to Work a Day in your Life.” – Executive Readers Digest
