Deriving its name from the Greek word Deisis, (δέησις, "prayer" or "supplication") this private chapel presents a painting program that focuses on the Biblical and hagiographical role of the family in the understanding of the Church, with emphasis on the role of intercession within the family on the macro level of the Universal Church, and the micro level of the personal family as a type of church. Divided into three sections, the program visually examines families of the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Church. Interspersed throughout the chapel are various patron saints of the family, arranged in an attempt to preserve the cohesive nature of applying a theme to the room.
