Tequila and mezcal are his passion Growing up in a small town in Texas, Asa Eubanks—bar manager at Lucky Day Mezcal & Tequila House in the famed Fremont Street East district downtown—moved to Las Vegas when he was 19 years old and entered the food and beverage industry on the Strip, starting out as a busser for PBR Rock Bar & Grill at Miracle Mile Shops. He slowly worked his way up, from busser, food runner and server to barback and bartender, eventually moving into his first management position at now-shuttered hot spot Casa Del Matador in Downtown Summerlin, known for its huge tequila selection. “When I was working at Matador, it was my first week managing, and this guy asked about a tequila that I didn’t know, and he made fun of me for not knowing. I vowed right then that never again am I ever going to be stumped about tequila,” Eubanks says. “I took that moment and turned it around to learn.” Today, Eubanks would call himself a tequila and mezcal expert; in fact, one of his favorite parts of the job is teaching guests about the spirits. “Lucky Day is like walking into a secret, you can’t really judge it from the outside,” Eubanks says. “But when you walk into this

While guests are encouraged to try one of the many flights, the hot spot’s specialty cocktail list is a great way to experience the spirits, too. One of Eubanks’ faves is the floral-tasting Chica Blanca, a blend of tequila, crème de violette, elderflower liqueur, egg whites, fresh-squeezed lemon juice and lavender syrup. –KM

There may be a line, as guests are being asked to maintain adequate spacing between groups and to try to ride with their own party, or ride with fewer people. Employees often clean and sanitize the buttons and commonly touched areas inside the cars, and clean escalator rails.

Feel good in knowing your room has been thoroughly sanitized. Surfaces have been wiped down; and linens and towels completely changed out. You’ll probably find extra towels in your room, and can always request more if needed. You may not find little bottles of amenities but amenities are still available. Housekeeping and other guest services may not be entering your room unless requested, and at some hotels, won’t be entering during your stay.

Many venues have plexiglass at payment stations, and marks to encourage social distancing while waiting. In addition, fewer patrons may be allowed in at one time.

OK! It’s time to release a little tension. While you’re here, you’ll see social distancing measures, such as slot machines not being available next to each other, congregating behind people not allowed, limited players at tables and plexiglass between dealers and players. You may need to step away if you need to smoke. Casinos are required to disinfect items needed for play, such as chips, cards, balls and dice.

Although venues may differ, most will implement 25-foot spacing between performers and audience members and space between each party to encourage social distancing. Masks are mandatory. There is a limit to the number of people allowed in the venue, per current Nevada rules.

Most restaurants require reservations, and will text or call when the table is ready. Wear your mask until reaching the table. Tables have 6 feet between them. Menus may be digital or one-time use. Permanent ones are sanitized between each use. Condiments are often on request, and sanitized between use. Bars will space patrons’ parties 6 feet apart.

check-out kiosks that are sanitized often.

While you are here in Las Vegas, there are several things you can do to help keep yourself well and decrease the chances of you or someone else getting sick. Give yourself a self-check before you arrive. Do you have a fever? A cough? Is your sense of smell normal? You must wear your mask in public areas, including the casino. It helps stem the spread of potentially deadly viruses like COVID-19. It’s also considerate of fellow guests and resort workers.

You’ll notice hand sanitizer stations. Give yourself a squirt before and after playing slots or the tables, and anywhere it seems you might need it (after touching elevator buttons, holding escalator rails or getting money from the ATM). If you start to feel sick, get it checked out. Many hotels have medical profes-

sionals on-site or can get you medical help quickly. Practice social distancing. Stay 6 feet from people other than travel companions whenever possible. Places where lines commonly form will be marked. Be patient—even though you are 6 feet apart, you’ll still be moving. Try not to touch your face.

Periodically, wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, then rinse for 10 seconds. You may also receive personal size bottles of hand sanitizer in your room or when you check in. Take those with you and use whenever it’s not practical to wash, or a hand sanitizer station isn’t close.
