Property venues adopt an ‘Alice In Wonderland’ theme for the holidays
Resorts World Las Vegas invites visitors to go down the rabbit hole this month as part of its “Wonder World” program, in which several of the resorts property’s more iconic venues transform into various locales from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. (And some feature characters from the book.)
Zouk Nightclub will become “Zouk: The Red Queen’s Castle,” and partiers are encouraged to dance the night away while listening to world-class DJs performing as the Mothership winds its way through the club.
The Red Queen theme continues over at RedTail, or as it’s called during this program, “The Red Queen’s Beer Garden.” Come enjoy a beer from a large selection while playing giant chess, giant Jenga and giant beer pong (although there won’t be any “off with their heads!” action going on here).
If you’re a fan of spectacular views combined with world-class cocktails, head straight to Alle on 66, which is hosting the “Mad Hatter Tea Party,” a brunch experience that promises a bit of the surreal (and some bizarre characters) while you enjoy your twists on alcohol and tea.
Speaking of great lounges, Gatsby’s Cocktail Lounge turns into the “Mushroom Enchanted Forest,” where you won’t find hallucinogens, but you will find music, specialty cocktails and photo opportunities galore.
Eight Lounge, where premium cigars are enjoyed by some of the world’s biggest stars, becomes “Caterpillar Forest,” and no, no hookahs, but there will be plenty of puffing.

Varied Voice
Terry Fator has spent much of his show business career surrounded by dummies. They steal the spotlight onstage even though Fator often carries them. A true pro, he prefers the audience focus on his co-stars while they sing. Those co-stars got Fator to where he is now with a second Vegas residency that seeks to answer the question put forth by its title: Who’s the Dummy Now?
Surely Fator is not the dummy, although a few members of his everevolving supporting cast may beg to differ. Who’s the Dummy Now? is a double entendre, possibly a triple, that strikes to the core of the art of ventriloquism while inviting the audience to suspend disbelief and imagine Fator’s pint-sized celebrity likenesses have been possessed by the spirits of their inspirations.
Those inspirations are invariably Fator’s and include David Bowie, whose presence allows for a rendition of Bowie’s classic collaboration with Queen, “Under Pressure.” Fator’s respect for Elvis Presley and the legacy of Las Vegas entertainment is embodied in Maynard Tompkins, the world’s greatest Elvis impersonator whose resemblance to The King makes up for the lack of focus that has prevented his from learning any Presley songs proper.
Fortunately, Fator has Walter T. Airdale on hand to add Nashville
know-how to the proceedings. The country star has been married eight times and does dead-on impressions of Garth Brooks and Toby Keith that have caused many tears to fall into beers during his storied career. Fator’s own career would have turned out very differently were it not for his sidekick, Winston the Impersonating Turtle, who demonstrates chemistry with his boss, a key factor leading to Fator becoming the second-season champion of America’s Got Talent
Fator’s career started long before his 2007 AGT win, and his interest in ventriloquism began during his adolescence. He can trace his artistic ancestry to Edgar Bergen, who established ventriloquist standards in popular culture such as having multiple dummies with contrasting personalities.
Airdale joined the act first. Other characters were gradually added, and some such as Vikki the Cougar and Wrex the Crash Test Dummy became integral. Fator got more comfortable doing more direct impressions of singers with respective dummy likenesses as he became a veteran and added versions of Elton John, Willie Nelson and Justin Timberlake to his ensemble. –Matt Kelemen

From impersonation to harmonization and comedy, the ‘America’s Got Talent’ winner can do it all
Suite Sounds
It’s been nearly 50 years since The Who played the final gig of its last tour as a full-time band. There would be reunions and celebrations that would bring singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend together in the subsequent years, but The Who Hits Back! Tour, which concludes in Las Vegas with two weekend dates, is something fans have never experienced before.
The Who have played Tommy and Quadrophenia in their entirety for past tours, and first played in concert with an orchestra in 1972. The Who Hits Back! employs classical
musicians to perform suites from both albums, with the entire ensemble playing most of the first side of Tommy before “Pinball Wizard” and “We’re Not Gonna Take It” get the symphonic treatment.
A rock set dives deep into rarities and cuts from 1971’s Who’s Next, with longtime drummer Zak Starkey channeling Keith Moon’s spirit and Simon Townshend adding the guitar layers from recordings that older brother Pete used to compensate for on his own when The Who toured as a four-member unit. The late John Entwistle is sorely
missed, but his French horn lines are faithfully reproduced during such songs as “The Real Me” from the Quadrophenia suite.
That album’s “Love Reign O’er Me” promises to be majestic with live strings, and as of last month the band had begun closing sets with Mose Allison’s “Young Man Blues,” famously covered for 1970’s Live at Leeds and rarely performed since then.

An Authentically Italian Experience
When it comes to Italian cuisine, Tuscany has long been a region in Italy known for its rustic, simplistic and fresh flavors—with meats, cheeses and wines serving as the cornerstone of every meal. On the Las Vegas Strip there’s one restaurant holding true to the pillars of Tuscany food and beverage, and that’s Toscana Ristorante & Bar by Eataly.
The intimate, 94-seat restau rant is a combination of cozy and upscale with rustic touches like the open wood-fired grill and Tuscan-inspired décor. Start the evening with the Italian classic—a Negroni. Choose the gin, bitter and vermouth to create your perfect sip. Toscana also offers an impressive list of specialty cocktails, all with a classic Italian twist.
The food is simplistic in the recipe but rich in flavors, and we suggest starting with an antipasti course of the polpo, perfectly grilled octopus with rustic potatoes, bean purée and celery salad, or the prosciutto e mozzarella with house-made fried Tuscan gnocco fritto, prosciutto Toscano Piacenti and house-made mozzarella.
Main courses cover pasta and meat. Simple but with some of the best sauce you’ll have is the ravioli maremmani, al dente pasta pillows packed with spinach and ricotta with a Cosí Com’é tomato sauce and fresh basil. For a more substantial bite, dig into the 16-ounce NY Strip from Creekstone Farms or the chianti-braised short ribs. If it’s a special date or your tablemates are down to share, the 40-ounce tomahawk from Snake River Farms is impressive, with the cut cooked over a three-tiered wood-fired grill, slow roasted and reverse seared to perfection.
Don’t leave Toscana without experiencing the new gelato cart. You get to be the master of your dessert by adding what toppings you like to the housemade sweet cream gelato that is scooped from a massive mound right at your table. Choose from an array of delicious toppings like crumbled cannoli shells, crushed pistachios, flourless chocolate crumble and Fabbri Amarena cherries—we say go for all the toppings! –Kiko Miyasato

If you’re looking for a quick side trip while you’re in town, you can’t get any quicker than a ride at FlyOver Las Vegas, where you’ll be transported to another locale in seconds. To celebrate its first anniversary on the Strip, FlyOver recently launched its third ride film here, Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies. It’s not only gorgeous, it’s also a bit different from the other films currently showing.
You’ll notice this in the preshow, where you’ll see the director’s father appearing in educational footage that is interspersed with film of the Rockies, and in storylines that wind throughout, from narration by Blackfoot elder Peter
of It All
Strikes With A Gun to a child discovering locales throughout the Rockies. It is impressed on you how the land is all of ours, to enjoy, to conquer, and to take care of. It’s a powerful message, as powerful as the attraction itself.
Inside the theater, you’ll rise only a few feet in the air, but it’ll feel like hundreds of feet, so encompassing is the view in front of the 52-and-a-half-foot screen. Seriously, you can glance sideways and you’ll still be looking at the landscape, which includes footage of Banff, Jasper and Yoho national parks. As you fly through different landscapes, the theater seems to be filled with mist, and you’ll smell the fresh air.
The natural beauty of the Rockies is seen in everything from lakes and rocky mountainsides to rushing rivers and frozen walls of ice. Watch Blackfeet men test themselves with their horses, and ascend to the top of high peaks. Peer at some of the most famous athletes in Canada as they pit themselves against the environment, like ice climber Will Gadd on the way up the Curtain Call in the Columbia Icefield. And each vignette you fly through reminds you of the glory of the land and the responsibility we bear to it. –Nina King

The Gift of Laughter
Comedian brings his witticisms to stand-up dates at The Mirage
Although Christmas is still pretty far away, it’s a special time for Tim Allen , who’s playing Santa for the fourth time. The trailer for Disney+ limited series The Santa Clauses came out in September, whetting appetites for both holiday film fans and Allen aficionados who have followed him faithfully from his Home Improvement days to the present. Allen’s gift to the faithful who happen to be in Las Vegas this weekend is two dates on the Strip as part of the Aces of Comedy series.
Allen had a successful career in stand-up before parlaying his tool-obsessed persona into television, first as the Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor for 204 episodes of ABC sitcom Home Improvement, then as Mike Baxter for nine seasons on Last Man Standing, which ended its run on Fox in January 2021.
Along the way, Allen scored some iconic roles beginning in 1994 with The Santa Clause The next year he voiced Buzz Lightyear in the first film of the Toy Story franchise, then in 1999 he was cast in the lead of science fiction comedy Galaxy Quest. By the time that Last Man Standing had launched, he had a well-rounded filmography and completely satisfying career to look back on.
He’s not done yet, although Chris Evans took over the Buzz Lightyear role for the spaceman’s spin-off film, and Peyton Manning is vying to becoming the next Santa (at least in the Clauses trailer). Allen’s energy and affa bility is as contagious as ever, and at his shows it’s always Tool Time.

Discovering King Tut’s Tomb— The Experience Details the Famous Discovery
One of the greatest discoveries in history is celebrating its 100th anniversary at Luxor Hotel & Casino: Discovering King Tut’s Tomb—The Experience. You’ll feel like you’re right alongside Egyptologist Howard Carter when he un-
earthed King Tutankhamun’s tomb (the most preserved of any pharaoh to date) through an exhibition that both recounts his experiences and sheds light on an ancient civilization.
You’ll start by going along a passageway to the burial chamber and view the story of King Tut in a variety of different ways. There are animations that go into the process of mummification, galleries that examine archeological practices through the ages up to the present, and pods of virtual reality chairs that take you into King Tut’s tomb. It’s both an immersive, entertaining experience and a highly educational one. You’ll also be able to view more than 300 replicas of artifacts. (Says Tom Zaller,
President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions, which brought the exhibit to Luxor, “If you want to see the original King Tut artifacts, the only way you can see them is in Egypt when they open the new Grand Egyptian Museum.”)
“I have been fortunate enough to travel to Egypt and it is a magical place,” said Zaller.
“My hope with this exhibition is that we can, just for a moment, transport guests to the Valley of the Kings along the Nile River, and
introduce them to one of the greatest archeo logical discoveries of all time. And what better place to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the discovery than at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas?”
You can find Discovering King Tut’s Tomb—The Experience on the Luxor’s atrium level (next to Titanic: The Exhibition), and the attraction will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
You can either walk through at your leisure or take an audio tour (led by Carter himself).
Tickets start at $20 for children 4-12 and $30 for adults. To purchase tickets, visit kingtutve gas.com or luxor.com
Fans of Italian cuisine may already know that one of the go-to spots on the Las Vegas Strip is Lavo, where classics like brick-oven pizzas, chicken Parmigiano and spaghetti and meatballs are served to capacity crowds on a daily basis. As satisfying as the meals are here, they really shine when paired with the restaurant’s cocktails. And Lavo just added a slew of new libations to an already stellar menu.
All cocktails were created by the team of Craig Schoettler, vice president of West Coast Beverage, and Jan Padiernos, senior beverage manager. While there are a few house staples, the menu is packed with seasonal delights.
The beautiful LAVO-lini is a mix of Absolut Elyx vodka, lychee, white cranberry, aloe vera and lemon, shaken and poured at your table over a bed of raspberry caviar. The shaker is left at your table, so this is one you can sip and savor as the meal goes on.
A perfect pre-dinner drink is the Amalfi Gin & Tonic, a drink you can adjust to suit your palate. It contains Malfy Italian gin, Italicus orange liqueur, juniper, laurel bay leaf and lemon, and comes with a bottle of Fever-Tree tonic.
The Vecchia Fiamma, a wonderful version of the Old-Fashioned, blends Bulleit bourbon, BLiS bourbon barrel-matured pure maple syrup, orange peel and smoked applewood, and is brought to your table on a wooden
stand with a glass dome cover. As the cover is slowly lifted and swirled, the smoke beneath billows out, filling the room with a nice, smoky aroma.
Keep the bourbon train going with the Giardino, a real flavor bomb with Maker’s Mark, Amaro Averna, fresh lemon juice, Demerara, cherry tomato and basil. You’ll be sipping this one quite a bit to fully process all the profiles.
The Buono Notte is a tiramisu in a glass (it even looks like it!). It’s made with vanilla-infused Ketel One vodka, Licor 43, Kahlua, espresso, vanilla crema and tiramisu dust. This is a perfect accompaniment to dessert.
Margarita fans will absolutely love the Melograno e Pera, one of the most distinct-looking cocktails on the menu (and by far its most popular over the years). Prickly pear and pomegran ate are the dominant flavors in this tequila-based drink (Patrón blanco is the spirit of choice), and the rim is lined with Hawaiian black lava salt.
One of the longest-standing cocktails, the Valencia is irresistible, both for its vibrant color and the long-stemmed glass it’s served in. It’s got so much going on—Mount Gay Eclipse rum combines perfectly with Amaro Montenegro, apricot preserve, cold-pressed pineapple and Red Bull Yellow Edition.
Fans of limoncello will definitely want to check out the lemonade-forward Fiore Dolce, which uses the liqueur along with Belvedere vodka, local honey, fresh lemon and mint.
For a real pop of color, order the smooth-as-silk Ol’ Blue Eyes, served in a coupe glass and made with Ford’s gin, Cointreau, fresh lime, sage, nectar and topped off with egg white.
If mezcal is more your jam, you can’t beat the Sicilian Cartel, a heady mixture of Dos Hombres, grapefruit cordial, fresh lime, habanero tincture and egg white. –Ken Miller

Daniel Ponsky
If Daniel Ponsky looks familiar, it might be because you’ve seen him doing stand-up comedy at L.A.’s Laugh Factory, Comedy Store or The Improv. Or you might have seen him on TV’s Bar Rescue and Back to the Bar, which he appeared on for several years. Today, you can see Ponsky working as a mixologist at The Cabinet of Curiosities and The Lock at Bally’s.
After years working his comedy craft in L.A., where he was born and raised, Ponsky decided, “I didn’t want to be one of those broke comics living out of a car,
and bartending was a way I could make money while focusing on my craft.” After two decades of working in comedy and sharpening his bartending skills all around L.A., five years ago, Ponsky decided to bring his skills to Vegas.
“Vegas has always been my absolute favorite travel destination,” he says. “I wanted to see if I could mesh with it.” Mesh he did, working at Sahara before he joined the opening team at Bally’s.

Besides the drinking adventure you’ll go on at The Cabinet of Curiosities and The Lock, Ponsky completes the experience with his awesome personality and mad bartending skills. “Behind the bar, I’m a comedian,” he says. “I have fun with my guests; I get ’em laughing. Speaking of cocktails, you’ll surely want to indulge, as twists on the classic score big on flavor. The Emerald gimlet mixes Absolut Elyx vodka with basil and cold-pressed lime, while the Pink Panther combines Bombay Sapphire gin and St-Germain liqueur with pink peppercorn and cold-pressed lemon. They are really pretty, and certainly taste great! If you’re into barrel-aged drinks, you may want to try The White Whale— Ilegal mezcal, Dolin Blanc vermouth, Cocchi Americano, honeysuckle and
peppercorn. There are also several nonalcoholic options as well.
For your apps, let the size of your party be your guide. The raw bar features a huge o ering in Pearls of the Sea, with enough oysters, crab, shrimp cocktails and lobster to satisfy everyone. But smaller parties may prefer yellowtail aguachile with cucumber and avocado mousse or tuna poke wonton tacos— those tacos make for a supremely interesting bite, or so I am told.
I’d recommend the deep dish focaccia bites for vegetarians; fresh mozzarella, a San Marzano tomato
sauce and a spicy relish will have you dipping back again and again. The steak tartare is served on grilled focaccia with black tru e aioli.
There’s a mix of influences on this menu; you’ll fi nd “Chile Relleno” empanadas, a smooth Mexican Street corn ravioli, Thai-style deep-fried shrimp, chicken meatballs and double-cut pork chops with a port wine glaze. Brown butter scallops come over roasted celery root purée while a spicy Siciliano cavatelli features bay scallop, shrimp and squid. If you are fond of beef, get it here in a Wellington with fi let mignon and foie gras mousse, or as a 10-ounce, thick-cut classic fi let. If that seems a little small to you, maybe the 38-ounce tomahawk ribeye would be more suitable; in that case, feel free to share. Dessert has the potential to overshadow those flavors, though. Imagine, if you will, the beauty of a peanut butter cheesecake with chocolate cake and cookie crumbles that goes by the name of Chocolate Peanut Butter Meltdown. It’s kind of accurate. The “les, nyc” doughnuts are defi nitely an option, too; three dipping sauces makes every bite a new discovery.
Sgt.PepperinTheBeatlesLOVE
Looking for the perfect Halloween costume? All you need is The Beatles LOVE—specifically the Sgt. Pepper outfi t. We asked RuBen Permel, wardrobe supervisor for the Cirque du Soleil show at The Mirage, how the look is achieved:
How long does it take to create this costume?
hours. That also includes facial hair.
How many people were involved in its creation?
a role like Sgt. Pepper, every element varies. For example, the jacket has many steps to be created. From fabrics sourcing to supply kitting, pattern makers, cutters, stitchers/first hand, fabric dyer, textile painting or printing, accessories application, accessory makers and quality control. Each garment is custom to the artist, so many hands are involved. I would say no less than 20 individuals are involved.
What types of material are used in the creation of this costume? There are more than 164 components needed to build one full Sgt. Pepper look. From cotton, linen, silks, leather, moleskin, poplin, metal, Lycra, tricot, ta etas, elastic, etc.
These shows will give you plenty of Halloween costume ideas
By Ken MillerFew holidays engender the kind of excitement Halloween does in Las Vegas. Yes, we host a party like no other city in town. But it’s primarily the costumes that get everyone pumped. And the level of commitment some partiers put into their getups is seriously inspiring. Gone are the princess and Mickey Mouse costumes we used to wear as kids; these are transformations that make even the most jaded Halloween fan do a double take.
Every year, this city sees thousands of mind-blowing renditions of everything from nurses to superheroes, many of which end up earning their wearers a grand prize at the parties they attend. But here’s the challenge for the serious Halloween fan: How do you improve on last year’s costume? Where will your next stroke of inspiration come from?
On that note, might we suggest seeing a Las Vegas production show—or two or three? Because if there’s one thing we at Las Vegas Magazine know for sure, it’s this: Shows in Las Vegas feature some of the most amazing, unique costume designs in the world. If you need inspiration, check out the following pages.
The Jabbawockeez dance troupe at MGM Grand has evolved its show several times over the years, keeping the show fresh and hugely popular. But there’s one thing they haven’t altered: Their appearance. It’s simple but so iconic. By wearing the same mask and bucket hat, all dancers are equal. It’s the perfect way for the troupe to appear as one, despite the large cast.
Achieving this look is easy—and, right now, a ordable. At the show’s Wock Shop, you can get a bucket hat and mask combo at a discounted price of $79 (as well as hoodies, pants, jackets and T-shirts, all helping get you close to that Jabba look).
Even better? If you post your look and tag the troupe on its Instagram feed (@jabbawockeez and @the wockshop) and hashtag #wocktober 2022, you’re instantly entered in a costume contest. The winner, who will be announced sometime after Halloween, gets two tickets to the show (second place wins an autographed white camo Funko Pop!).
The new kid in town, costume-wise, Katy Perry’s Play residency at Resorts World Las Vegas is the most eye-popping production to come to town in some time, not only for its larger-than-life props (including a giant toilet and giant cereal box) but for its mind-boggling array of
outfits, both on Perry and her backup dancers. (We don’t know about you, but going to the next big Halloween bash dressed as a walkie-talkie or a large sock sounds pretty cool to us).
There are plenty of great looks on Perry, but the one we’re looking forward to seeing replicated is one that literally stops the show: The “Beer Can” outfit, featuring two cans over her chest, one of which actually dispenses beer! This look, courtesy of Zaldy, Heather Picchiottino and Johnny Wujek, can be yours for just the cost of some silver, thigh-high boots, a metallic bustier and, of course, the largest beer cans you can find.
thigh-high boots, a metallic bustier and, of
Pi the Magic Dragon, who’s packing houses at Flamingo as well as touring, would look at you quite quizzically if you asked him how his costume is created; after all, he insists that he is not a man in a costume, but a real, fire-breathing serpent who stalks fair maidens and hoards gold! But if you’re ever at a performance, be sure to check out the crowd: It’s not unusual to see youngsters sporting a Pi knitted hat (complete with red, orange and green highlights) or even infants in quilted onesies with the spines on the back.
So if you want to look like Pi , you’re certainly welcome to give it a shot, but, well … he’d tell you, you can’t, as you don’t have dragon DNA.
One of the best shows in town also has some of the most memorable characters in the history of Las Vegas entertainment. Absinthe at Caesars Palace features an ever-rotating series of acts, but one constant is the Green Fairy, whose singular costume has become “an iconic Vegas look over the years,” according to Lijana Wallenda, resident costume designer for Absinthe
“It’s a really fun one to do for Halloween,” she said. “Every little girl pretended to be a fairy growing up, and our fairy is extra sassy and covered in rhinestones. Who doesn’t want to be dripping in crystals? It’s my favorite way to be.”
cording pretended fairy favorite replicate covgreen that
If you want to replicate this look yourself, Wallenda has you covered: “If you’re doing this look for Halloween, think dark-green velvet, bright lime green feathers, and lots of rhinestones. If you can get your hands on a green corset, that is a nice touch, but a cute little green dress or short sassy skirt and top will do. The sparklier the better.” But don’t stop there! “And whatever wings you can find, add glitter… lots of glitter. You can try using spray
Absinthe and iLuminate photos by Christopher DeVargas Tournament of Kings photo by Erik Kabik/erikkabik.comadhesive and then sprinkle glitter on them. Top it o with a pair of sparkly heels and a bejeweled feather in your hair and you’re ready to go! You’ll look like a Gazillion bucks.”
Over at Excalibur, one of the Strip’s longest-running productions is still packing houses, and that’s because medieval-themed shows never
get old (Game of Thrones fans will confirm this). Tournament of Kings features, arguably, some of the most convincing costumes you’ll see outside of a museum, and its team of artists worked hard to achieve the look, which ranges from suits of armor to wizard robes and page styles. Costume designers Frédéric Pineau
and Jerome Boudin said it can take up to a month to complete each costume using materials ranging from silk and cotton to leather, metal and polyester.
Fans of America’s Got Talent will no doubt have already seen the technical marvel that is iLuminate at The STRAT, featuring costumes that come alive through lights as those wearing them bust serious moves.
The technology, created by Miral Kotb, breaks down into three di erent “suits”: pixel suits with LED tape; El Wire suits; and Fiber Optic suits. Depending on the costume, there will be patches on arms, legs, feet, gloves, shoes and helmets. In each case, the lights are connected by a wire to a backpack and power source.
If you want to re-create this look, lead light suit technician/programmer Nathan Davis has some helpful tips: El Wire neon kits can be purchased at Amazon or eBay. If you’re a bit more budget-conscious, you can purchase LED strip lights and attach them to your clothing. Your costume will definitely stand out, especially at parties where the lights are low!
By Brock Radke Photo by Richard McLarenAfter a long layoff, Jeff Dunham is back. The one-of-a-kind ventril oquist and Guinness World Record holder for the most tickets sold for a comedy tour headlined for years at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace after an early gig opening there for Julio Iglesias, and now that Dunham is back on the road with his epic Still Not Canceled tour, he’s signed on for three new Las Vegas Strip dates.
You just taped another special for Comedy Central in Washington, D.C. That must have been a lot different from your last taping, the 2020 holiday special when things were still a bit dodgy during shutdown. It was great and the fans really came out. I love that theater (Warner Theater) because I did my second Comedy Central special there and
introduced the character of Ahmed. But, yes, the pandemic holiday special was nuts, because I hadn’t been doing any shows; I only worked on that material at home in my office. I didn’t tell a single joke to my wife or the people that work with me, nothing, I just got onstage.
You are known for not taking much time off, so it must have
been strange to have all that downtime in the past few years, even if everyone else was taking a break.
Performing really is like riding a bicycle. If you’ve done it long enough, everything falls into place. I was only worried about my voice. It’s a muscle, and you need to keep it in shape, and I’m used to being onstage
seems like it was a long time ago now, but he’s ended up being really successful in the shows, and he was great in the special. I feel like I’ve been working on it for a while, but you know, Peanut and Walter, they’ve been in my life for decades. These characters take a while to form.

Tell us about the new guy in the show.
He’s always stuck on his smart device. His name is Earl, but it’s spelled “URL.” He has his phone and he’s always typing. Like I said, it took a while to develop, but literally four shows before the taping in D.C., I changed his voice, and everything just fell into place. He’s on a different level now. I feel like this guy is going to be in the act for a while, because everybody is stuck on their phone too much of the time, and I’m always searching for characters people can identify with.
What other new elements can we expect to see in your shows?

Well, Walter has become Joe Biden. Walter is Walter, but he pretends he’s Biden. That’s a bit of a challenge to entertain everyone with that, but I try to play it like Johnny Carson or Bob Hope would have. They made fun of the president and politics, and I think that’s what comedians are supposed to do, but these days it’s difficult to do that without polarizing your act. I try to make fun of both sides just a little bit, just enough to make people laugh. We’re not calling anybody names, just pointing out some of the goofy stuff going on in the world right now.
Jeff Dunham returns to Vegas—with some fun new elementsBy Matt Kelemen
Welcome the season at Bellagio’s newest display
On a beautiful October Saturday morning, with shorts and T-shirts being the predominant seasonal-appropriate fashion among the throngs on the Strip, an eye-opening display enraptures those traversing Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. A fresh fall fragrance is picked up by olfactory senses as thousands of yellow, orange and brown blooms come into view.
Fog rises from the water flowing alongside the bridge leading to a roundabout in the middle of the conservatory, where a touchable hyrdroglobe is mounted at center.
The team behind the seasonal dis plays always tries to outdo the last endeavor, but Artfully Autumn has an unprecedented, captivating effect on witnesses. It wakes people up,
drawing exclamations and smiles.
“Oh, look!” can be heard more than once, and one onlooker in a pack of pedestrians reacts by thumping his chest at heart level twice, followed up with a joyful, “This makes me feel good!”
There is a lot going on, including homages to design masters amid oversized cattails rising from the water, complemented by giant acorns and real pumpkins that reach up to more than 1,000 pounds in weight.
Morning sun shines through the Tiffany glass of the display’s pièce de resistance, a waterfall sculpture with a fairy floating above it that provides a visual appetizer for the long line of guests waiting to get into Sadelle’s Café for brunch.
It’s designer Ed Libby’s tribute to
Vortex, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at Jewel Changi Airport in Singapore. A gorgeous infinity waterfall basin absorbs the falling water.
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater home in Pennsylvania inspired the installation in the conservatory’s south bed. The scaleddown replica seems suspended in air as macro-sized dragonflies that Louis Comfort Tiffany would have envied flutter in a scene set with 32,000 orange carnations. The adjacent east bed features 20-foot-tall gilded archways with vibrant, multicolored flowers creating a smooth transition to the surroundings.
The aroma is Libby’s “cornucopia” fragrance that blends orange and cranberry with notes of rich cinnamon, triggering memories of apple cider antidotes to cool fall evenings. Copper-hued bonsai trees set in colorful floral bases complement the calming effects of the scent, while an LED screen provides ambient scenes of waterfalls and falling leaves.
Water used in Bellagio’s Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is drawn, reused and repurposed from on-site underground wells. It hydrates 31 types of plant species included in Artfully Autumn, fuels the waterfalls and cleans the tiles that command the attention of one preschooler following the maze-like curling vines designed into the floor. He traces the spiral until he reaches the center and raises his hands in triumph, unaware of the fairy floating above watching over the beds, the blooms, the bonsai, and the art and architecture that inspired the latest installation to top all previous installations.

The two-story, 10,153-square-foot estate, listed by Austin Sherwood with IS LUXURY, includes five bed-

The dual primary bedrooms are located on the main level, and come with all the deluxe features you would expect. Elsewhere on the main level, you’ll be stunned by the open-plan interior, soaring ceilings and light-filled spaces, thanks to plenty of windows throughout. What’s better than one kitchen? Two! This home features indoor and outdoor kitchens, both featuring wraparound eating bars. This home also includes upstairs and downstairs wet bars, not to mention special-purpose rooms throughout.
If you can imagine it, this home has the space to help you accomplish it.
Elsewhere, you’ll find a dedicated office with custom built-ins, a second-floor den with an impressive wall of built-in cabinets and

The backyard of this expanse is as beautiful as its interior, featuring a classic pool and spa with fountains and waterfalls. And for those sports enthusiasts in the family, there’s also an outdoor basketball halfcourt!
