Manager keeps business booming at dayclub

As the customer development manager for Daylight Beach Club at Mandalay Bay, Mikey Becerra is, as he puts it, “paying it forward. I’ve learned from previous employees, watching their hard work and education they’ve gone through and then taught me how to be successful and how to work hard,” he says. “Now I’m turning around and teaching the next generation. I want to be a role model and someone people can look up to.”

Becerra joined Daylight in 2015 after entering the nightlife industry in

L.A. in 2013. Becerra quickly moved up the ladder at hot spots like Drai’s Hollywood, and eventually Drai’s in Las Vegas at The Cromwell. He now “takes care of the big customers—VIPs, celebrities,” Becerra says. “I help the sales team, help manage the hosts, bring in business to Daylight.”

Becerra loves how cutting edge the dayclub has stayed during its tenure. “We’ve been open a decade and brought EDM DJs in, then we switched it up to being a hip-hop pool bringing in Rick Ross, Post Malone,” he says.

“Now, in 2023, we’re switching it again and doing Latin events, tapping into the Latin market, which is huge right now.”

While Becerra might be called “boss” at work, outside of work you can call him “cat dad,” he says. “I have a serval Bengal—he’s like my child, my baby.” He also plays on a local softball team with other industry guys and is always adding to his massive tattoo collection.
