A Week to Remember

If you’re currently reading this editor’s note, congratulations! You couldn’t have picked a better week to visit Las Vegas. There is so much cool stu happening, we almost didn’t have enough room to get it all into this week’s issue. So get ready to create some indelible memories at the shows, lounges and properties we’ve got lined up for you.

Who doesn’t love James Taylor? The legendary singer-songwriter has spent the last few decades crafting some of the best songs of this or any generation, from “Fire and Rain” to “Mexico” and “Carolina in My Mind” and “Shower the People.” And this week, Taylor and his All Star Band perform a series of shows at The Cosmopolitan (“That’s Why He’s Here,” p. 32). This promises to be a sold-out run, so get your tickets now!

While Penn & Teller go on tour, their theater at Rio will still be very much active, thanks to magician Michael Carbonaro, who returns for another series of shows that combine his excellent sleightof-hand with comedy and audience interaction (“Back for More Fun,” p. 34).

Adult-themed revues don’t get much more iconic than the long-running Fantasy: The Strip’s Biggest Tease at Luxor. And this week, the sexy show introduces a VIP experience fans will defi nitely want to take advantage of (“Behind the Curtains,” p. 36 ).

For more than five decades, few Strip properties have achieved the worldwide fame of Caesars Palace, and in this week’s issue, associate editor Kiko Miyasato takes you through three fantastic experiences there (“1, 2, 3: Caesars Palace,” p. 38).

Need a drink? Check out the Strip’s newest bar, Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge at Resorts World (“Paradise Found,” p. 24).

Now go enjoy what’s going to be one of the best weeks of your life! And you’re welcome!

Fresh and Fun

Bellagio restaurant excels at seasonal fare for every palate

There are plenty of decadent, over-thetop dining experiences in Las Vegas, but every once in a while you find yourself just craving a fresh, more sensible option (yes, even in Las Vegas!). And for some of the freshest eating on the Strip, head to Harvest, where many products used are local, and the attention to quality shines through in every course.

The dining room itself is spacious and welcoming, and with floor-to-ceiling glass between the dining room and the kitchen, you can watch your courses being prepared. It’s recommended to try at least one of the signature cocktails here, from the Violette Haze, crafted with Tito’s vodka, crème de violette, Lillet and lemon, to the Aviation, a delicious blend of craft gin, violette, maraschino and lemon juice. If you’re a bourbon fan, definitely order the Paper Plane, containing Basil Hayden, Aperol, amaro and Meyer lemon.

Appetizers accommodate all tastes. Carnivores will love the pork belly lettuce wraps, flavored with pickled radishes and lemongrass sambal, while vegetarians and vegans will want to devour tempura pickled vegetables, served with a yuzu ponzu, as well as Jerusalem artichoke soup, accented with vadouvan croutons and vadouvan oil.

Variety is strongly stressed in the main course section at Harvest. Enjoy everything from a hay-smoked roasted half chicken brined in local ale and Viking Village scallops, cooked turmeric beurre blanc, celeriac purée, spring vegetables and caviar. Steak options include a filet mignon, grilled ribeye and hanger steak (there are terrific steak sauces that are well worth the extra coin). And vegetarians and vegans are sure to enjoy roasted tandoori vegetables or bucatini pasta topped with roasted eggplant, Taggiasca olives and Calabrian chili.

Whatever you order, don’t forget the wonderful sides here. Bone marrow, served with sea bean gremolata and grilled sourdough, adds a punch to any dish, while sautéed mushrooms (highlighted by Parmigiano-Reggiano and aged balsamic) and grilled asparagus (flavored with preserved lemon and citrus espelette aioli) are classics that never disappoint.

Desserts are not ignored here, either. The pear cobbler may be the perfect way in which to end your evening, featuring a carefully selected Bartlett pear, warm autumn spices and vanilla ice cream. –Ken Miller

What a Knight!

Engaging all-ages entertainment is a medieval must in Las Vegas

Sometimes, in a city known for its fabulous five-star dining scene and extravagant entertainment options, a night on the town is really best spent eating with your fingers, toasting with your tankard and pounding on your table. And there’s no better place to get a little rowdy than Tournament of Kings, where medieval merrymaking is not only welcome, they’ll even teach you how to do it.

While the show does follow an entertaining plot in which the noble knights in shining armor face off against forces of evil, what makes this experience special is the interactive element. You’ll be seated in sections that designate which king you’ll be supporting in various combat competitions. Come ready to cheer, because the more noise you make, the more engaged you are. And the more engaged you are, the more you’ll feel like you’ve time traveled back to the Dark Ages. And that is a trip worth taking, trust me.

Furthering the experience is the medieval meal you’ll be served, featuring a delicious roasted Cornish game hen, roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, a roll and an apple square for dessert, all of which you’ll have to tear into with only your hands. Alright, fine; they’ll give you silverware if you request it, but why not live a little and embrace the experience? Dietary accommodations and dinnerless admission are also available.

Feel welcome to bring your little ones, as this is a family-friendly affair, but don’t mistake this for a just-for-kids type of show. This is a skill-filled display of experienced horse riders, whimsical dancers and talented performers that will impress anyone of any age. And for the curmudgeons in the crowd, they have a nice beer and wine list and some featured thematic cocktails to help you loosen up.

If you’re in town to party, this is the perfect pregame. You get a full meal, which is essential before a wild night, lively entertainment to get you feeling energized, and you can start the party with some 5 for $20 Jell-O shots. Prithee, what more could you ask for? –

Ooh. Aah. And I’m So Hungry

Feed yourself and help feed others at the same time

If you need a recommendation for where to dine this week, I’ve got suggestions—and they involve going to one of the generous companies participating in Las Vegas Restaurant Week

From June 5-14, you’ll find an incredible list of restaurants to choose from for prix fixe menus featuring signature dishes and delicious specials from some of the hottest chefs and restaurants in Las Vegas. Each meal sold benefits Las Vegas’ Three Square Food Bank. This year, participating restaurants include Brezza at Resorts World Las Vegas, which features its heirloom

caprese, chicken piccata and panna cotta as choices on the lunch menu, and Tuscan carne cruda, Cape Grim New York strip steak and house-made cannoli for dinner. At Sahara Las Vegas, Balla Italian Soul offers agnolotti and Piedmontese flat iron steak, while at Mandalay Bay’s House of Blues Restaurant & Bar, you can indulge in jambalaya, blackened salmon or baby back ribs.

On the website, you can filter the extensive list of restaurants by price, type of food, restaurant location and meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Prices do

vary, but most range around $40 for lunch or $80 for dinner. You’ll also find a variety of offers in the Special Promotions area. For instance, the Superbook at Westgate Las Vegas will donate $2 to Three Square for every Bloody Good Cause Bloody Mary ordered.

Theoretically, you could eat at a different venue for every meal, enjoy drinks and desserts, keep your food budget in check—and still be donating to a good cause. Go ahead, we’ll be rooting for you from the next table. –Nina King

The Funnyman Has Returned!

Jerry Seinfeld never looked back once he first stepped onstage to try his hand at stand-up. Before then, Seinfeld, who returned earlier this year to Las Vegas for the first time since 2019, was more likely to say something funny sotto voce to make a fellow high school student laugh out loud during class than play the clown. Once he felt the rush of telling a joke that works and getting unanimous approval from an audience, he was hooked. Comedy became his preoccupation, and then his occupation.

Seinfeld still lives for comedy, hits clubs regularly and hangs out with comedians. He’s passionate about automobiles and is a dedicated family man, but his respect and regard for his peers—comedians who have made the effort and became successful—comes through in interviews and his work.

The Jerry Seinfeld of today is no less the insightful observer of the human condition, with its Pop-Tarts and cereals and smart phones and oppression of left-handed people such as himself, but he seems more acerbic if his 2020 Netflix special 23 Hours to Kill is any indication. Seinfeld was in top form for the performance at New York’s Beacon Theatre. He’s a little more caustic than the Seinfeld-era Seinfeld without coming off as cantankerous. Maybe that’s due to being married, which enabled him to add wife jokes to his repertoire. Maybe it’s a reaction to the current social climate that makes many of his peers more cautious about what they say. Seinfeld was the first prominent comedian to criticize the chilling effect of postmillennium political correctness on comedy, although he has no fear of being booked on college campuses. Along with Chris Rock’s Selective Outrage, 23 Hours to Kill is a testament to the excellence that manifests when top talent takes a stand against forces that could limit their imaginations or make them think twice about telling a joke. –Matt Kelemen

Sports in the Sun

Catch a game or two while you lounge at the pool

It’s not uncommon for your jaw to drop when you walk through the glass doors out onto the upper level of Stadium Swim and are first hit with the sheer size and scope of the pool complex. “Stadium Swim—it’s surreal,” says EJ Stagner, director of Stadium Swim at Circa Resort & Casino. “It’s an environment that Vegas has never seen before.”

’Tis true. Let’s start with the 40-foot-tall, high-definition screen that is continually displaying sports,

as well as sportsbook stats through its 14 million pixels. Then let’s talk venue. With a capacity of 4,000 people, it has three levels filled with 30 roomy cabanas, 337 chaise lounges, 38 daybeds, two owner’s suites (which fit 25 people!) and six pools.

Stadium Swim is 21 and over, so there are no kids running amok; and Stagner says it’s a great spot for those looking to celebrate with a bachelor or bachelorette party. “It’s definitely different,” he says. “It’s a great experience.

I think it provides, not only downtown but Las Vegas in general, a great place for both locals and tourists. It really gives you the best of both worlds—if you just want to come for the pool party and experience that or for sports fans, this is really the only place in Vegas, in the country, to really experience watching your team.” –Kiko

Can’t Beat It

King of Pop tribute features amazing music, dancing and more

Jalles Franca is a performer who has to be seen to be believed. His impersonation of Michael Jackson is nothing less than amazing at MJ Live, one of the best tribute acts on the Las Vegas Strip, and one that will have you out of your seat and dancing along to some of the greatest pop music of all time.

Franca does it all in this show— the moves, the look, the voice, whether singing or talking to the audience. He’s accompanied by a

keyboardist, a guitarist and a drummer, and his pitch-perfect versions of “She’s Out of My Life,” “Beat It,” “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” and “Bad” will have your jaw on the floor.

Better yet are the ensemble dance numbers to such classics as “Thriller,” “Billie Jean” and, especially, “Smooth Criminal,” a number that just slays with its combination of choreography and special effects (including, yes, that legendary Jackson lean).

For fans of the younger Jackson, good news—there’s also a tribute to The Jackson 5, complete with Afro wigs, early ’70s fashions and lots of nostalgia. Through every number, Franca’s energy is astounding; at times, it’s really as if the spirit of The Gloved One is taking him over. Get your tickets now; it’s just human nature. –Ken

New tiki bar at Resorts World is a vacation destination

There are certain standards when it comes to any tiki bar. The vibe is always chill, groovy and fun mixed with a little hipster and a little dive; the music is always on island-vacation rotation; and the cocktails are always tropical, colorful and strong enough to knock you on your … Well, Resorts World Las Vegas is now home to such a tiki bar, but with a little twist. First off, Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge is a hidden gem of sorts on the property. It’s not easily seen when just walking across the property, and that’s what makes it special—it’s like stumbling

Tips/Insider Knowledge

Enjoy two different made-in-house snacks. The first are crunchy and delicious Maui onion potato chips. The other is the Hurricane Popcorn, a salty snack made with ingredients like togarashi and furikake.

Share your experience! At the bar, look for the Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge postcards. Fill one out and the staff will mail it out for you to anywhere in the world.

The playlist is a carefully curated mix of tropical, vacationmode music.

across a great secret. (Look for the signs pointing you to Genting Palace and you’ll spot the lounge). Next, there is nothing dive about this tiki bar—it’s one of the most gorgeous tiki-themed spaces you’ll see, beautifully decorated with lighting and design accents, oversized lounge chairs and lush island scenery and a sleek, marble-topped bar area.

“Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge is a tropical escape, if you will, from the rest of the casino,” said Will Cahow, director of beverage for Resorts World Las Vegas. “It’s similar to other tiki bars around the country, with very vibrant colors. It has a tropical oasis dynamic. It’s about vacation mode here. This is more of a luxurious tiki environment, though, more upscale.”

You can thank Cahow and his team for creating the specialty cocktails at Golden Monkey. While there are seven classic tiki cocktails on the menu, including the Mai Tai, Scorpion and Rum Runner, Cahow has created 10 unique, specialty tiki cocktails—all served in cool and kitschy tiki vessels.

For a show, start with the One Way Ticket, a blend of Appleton Estate 8 Year Reserve rum, Hamilton

86 Demerara rum, Chinola passion fruit liqueur, Heirloom pineapple amaro liqueur, lime, pineapple and orgeat. The cocktail is then dusted with cinnamon over an open flame, making the flame flair. So cool!

For a twist on taste, try the Bird of Paradise. “We used this really cool syrup called pandan syrup,” Cahow said. “Pandan is a leaf like a banana leaf; it’s very common in

Southeastern Asian desserts and cuisine. It’s sweet. We took simple syrup and steeped the leaves in the syrup. The flavor is nutty, vanilla and herbaceous.” The pandan syrup is mixed with Bacardi Superior rum, Chinola pineapple liqueur, orange, lime and pineapple.

And just as at any other tiki bar, there are shareable cocktails, too. Sometimes called scorpion bowls, at Golden Monkey they’re called punch bowls, and one of the most popular is the Hurricane, mixed with Bacardi Superior, Myers’s dark rum, pineapple, orange, lime and grenadine.

“If you want tropical-flavored cocktails then you want to come to the Golden Monkey Tiki Lounge,” Cahow said. If you want a cool tiki experience that takes it to the next level, then you want to come to Golden Monkey. If you want a bougie bohemian escape that screams, “Welcome to your fabulous vacation!” then you want to come to Golden Monkey. –Kiko

Bar manager has found his happy place

Kevin Maj, bar manager for Margaritaville at Flamingo, is a man who loves his job—a job he has dedicated 19 years to. “I’m obsessed with making the bar department the best it (can) be,” he says.

Maj oversees the entire bar department (that includes a whopping seven bars spread across three levels!), and receiving and inventory, as well as helping run front-of-house operations. He also lends a helping hand whenever and wherever, he says.

“As long as I leave each day knowing that I did something,” he says. “If it’s

changing a light bulb or getting the bartenders every tool they need, as long as I know I did something and I spent the day contributing to making it better, then I feel like I did my job.”

Margaritaville was Maj’s first job on the Las Vegas Strip after he graduated college and spent time bussing tables at local restaurants. When he was offered a job as barback when the Stripside paradise had recently opened, he jumped at the chance.

“What you get here is a staff that’s been here 10-plus years, so you’ll get

that family experience,” he says. “This place has so much history before a lot of stuff around here was built. There’s a lot of stories about the Strip that our staff will tell you, because they were here.”

You can spot Maj out on the floor chatting with guests, too. “Nine times out of 10, if you’re here, you’ll see me running back and forth,” he says. “I like when it gets crazy busy. I remain calm in the chaos. I love that part of my job. I guess you could say I’m passionate and obsessed with the job.” –Kiko

Retro by Voltaggio specializes in nostalgia and delicious cuisine

you can go anywhere you want, eat anything you want and buy anything you want. But sometimes, isn’t it fun to feel like a kid again? There’s something about those younger years that sometimes pulls at you and begs you to return, even if just for a few

hours. And at Retro by Voltaggio, you can do just that, not to mention get a fantastic meal in the process.

A collaboration by brothers Michael and Bryan Voltaggio, this brand-new enterprise, which takes up the space that used to house Aureole, is a celebration of nostalgia, and the feeling is

in absolutely every corner—even the tall tower that used to house Aureole’s massive wine collection is now full of trinkets from the brothers’ past, from bicycles and video game units to superhero toys.

From the second you sit down, that joyful, childhood feeling continues— including multicolored placemats and china plates designed to look like paper plates; red-tinted glasses with bubble highlights; and brightly colored napkins, folded in the shape the broth-

ers had to shape them in when they worked at Holiday Inn!

The dishes here are all designed with one thing in mind: fun. Order the escargot and marvel when it arrives in a ceramic container made to look like a Chinese food takeout box. Marvel even more when you dig into the dish and find it tastes almost exactly like General Tso’s chicken. Order the pepperoni rolls and marvel when they arrive, looking like cinnamon rolls, but stu ed with pizza goodness. And who doesn’t like deviled eggs? Retro’s version is extra-creamy and comes with a nice

surprise inside: caviar. It’s like getting in touch with both your younger and older sides simultaneously—in the best way possible.

But the nostalgia really kicks in when you order the wagyu beef pot roast, served in the CorningWare your mother served all her casseroles in when you got home from school. And while it may look like the stew you remember, wagyu bumps this baby up. And wait until you try VoltaggiO’s, a re-creation of your favorite Campbell’s canned pasta goodness, made with house-made “O’s,” arrabbiata butter and a giant meatball. Your tastebuds— and your memory banks—will seriously come alive.

The desserts are a constant source of surprise and delight, from the deconstructed key lime pie, with lime curd shaped like a lime and served with coconut sorbet, to cookies and cream, a version you’ve never seen before—frozen cookie butter and crème fraîche rocks are piled high on a bed of chocolate ganache pudding. And if you’re a fan of both cheesecake and crème brûlée, guess what? The brothers have combined it in one dessert! And yes, it seriously rocks, pretty much like everything else at Retro.

The world needs James Taylor now more than ever. Taylor’s reassuring lyrics, relaxed vocal delivery and gentle acoustic-guitar accompaniment have been rediscovered by generation after generation since he emerged from the early ’70s singer-songwriter scene centered around Doug Weston’s Troubadour in West Hollywood. With mental health awareness gaining traction and rates of depression reaching all-time highs in the U.S., there’s never been a better time for Taylor to take his All-Star Band on tour and soothe souls in person.

For most listeners, Taylor’s career began with “Fire and Rain,” his first hit full of clues about his past. His musical origins date back to when his parents led impromptu singalongs of show tunes and pop standards that evolved into kitchen concerts as the Taylor children became proficient on instruments. James took four years of cello and taught himself guitar, developing his trademark finger style from the get-go.

He’d write his first song about his hometown in North Carolina at 14, play beach music in a band with older

brother Alex and meet lifelong friend and collaborator, Danny Kortchmar, in Martha’s Vineyard, where the Taylors had a summer home. The friends would later migrate to New York and form The Flying Machine to play clubs in Greenwich Village, but not before Taylor had his first major depressive episode that led to an extended stay at psychiatric institution McLean Hospital. Treatment worked well enough for him to get back on a musical path that led to New York and then England. A demo reached Paul McCartney’s ears, and he was signed to Apple Records. Taylor’s self-titled debut album contained contemporary setlist staple “Something in the Way She Moves,” which inspired George Harrison to write The Beatles’ great love song, “Something.”

Taylor was meant to enter the ’70s in Southern California, though. He and Kortchmar became part of an extended musical family that included Linda Ronstadt, J.D. Souther, Jack-

son Browne and Joni Mitchell. His first album for Warner Bros., Sweet Baby James, included the title track, “Country Road” and “Fire and Rain.” The latter, along with a cover of Carole King’s “You’ve Got a Friend” on 1971 album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon, placed Taylor in a position of being a confessional songwriting savior during a turbulent time in U.S. history. He hadn’t anticipated that, or being considered pop-music royalty during his marriage to Carly Simon. By the early ’80s, he ended his long dance with substance abuse and in 1985 released comeback album That’s Why I’m Here. He’s recorded and toured consistently ever since.

Taylor’s last album, 2020’s American Standard, revisited the music of his family’s singalongs. It topped the album charts for one week, making him the first act to have a Top 10 album in each of the six previous decades. His current All-Stars include son Henry on backing vocals, making performing a family affair for Taylor again and, as always, musical therapy for fans who’ve seen lonely times when they could not find a friend.

The star and producer of the gamechanging TV prank show The Carbonaro Effect, lifelong magician Michael Carbonaro set off on his first-ever theater tour in 2016. He elevated his live performances last year when the legendary Penn & Teller asked Carbonaro to fill in at their Las Vegas showroom during the duo’s summer tour, and the series was so much fun, he’s back for more this month. He’s excited to bring back his unique blend of comedy and illusions, especially because Las Vegas affords him the space to perfect his craft.

One of the great parts about getting to be in residency in Vegas last year was I got to really sit and look and explore all these routines, and take the time to adjust them to make them better. I had all afternoon to not get on a plane and fly to a new city and reset the show, but to take look at maybe this one moment that’s not getting the laughs as loud as it could, or see that not 100 % of the audience is being fooled here, and why. So now I’m looking forward to swinging things in and out, which is something I’ve seen Penn & Teller do all the time, shuffle stuff around and see what works better.

The whole experience was way better than I thought it would be. Not that we should be searching our whole lives for validation or worthiness or career stature, but it sure is nice when you get

it, and I was over the moon when the guys asked me to take over for them. Of all the things I’ve done, this really makes me feel like I must be up there if they trust me to do this. … And their work still influences me so much. I was a Copperfield kid, I loved David Copperfield and those were my two pillars, him and Penn & Teller, but I loved them both in completely different worlds. Penn & Teller always took an edgier approach, let you peek behind the curtain with that wry sense of humor.

almost like the live show. There are all these different perspectives going on because it’s part real magic show with a live audience, but you get to go backstage and see the antics behind the scenes. I think it’s the next level of what magic could be on television.

I am. I’ve taken almost the last two years in developing a new TV project and we’re just in the pitch stage now, but it’s a big one and I feel like it’s the next phase for my career. I’ve had so many people come up and say, “I love the show so much, I wish I could be on it, but I can’t because I know who you are.” I’ve realized that’s not a very good business model. You want the audience to come along with you. So this new show answers that question—there’s still the sense of playing with pranks, but it’s more about bringing them onboard,

There’s a difference between someone who doesn’t know they’re about to be fooled (like on TV) … and this amazing, electric energy from people in your presence who know something is going to happen but they don’t know when. I like getting to play with both. And on the TV show, I’m almost playing the straight man because I have to be realistic in the face of these outrageous things, where in the live show, I can show off and be part of the fun.

Every night in the Penn & Teller Theater, I’m going to make two people from the audience disappear onstage, so if you’re looking to get rid of someone, keep that in mind.

The ladies of Fantasy: The Strip’s Biggest Tease might be the most visible entertainers on the Strip, and not just because removal of clothing onstage is part of their job description.

If you get around Las Vegas Boulevard enough, there’s a chance you might see them representing their show at pool parties, grand openings and special events, or in casinos as they make their way to their destinations.

(They tend to stand out from the crowd.)

Alas, some Las Vegas visitors are not fortunate

enough to be in the right place at the right time. Until recently on most nights they had to wait until 10:30 p.m. to catch one of the nightly performances of sensuous sirens such as girl-next-door Mariah, statuesque Soolin and gorgeous Gigi as they tease and strip in producer/ choreographer Anita Mann’s long-running neo-burlesque dance revue. Even superfans of the show had to settle for admiration from afar.

Fantasy: The Strip’s Biggest Tease now provides the solution for audience members looking for a little

Fantasy: The Strip’s Biggest Tease provides

extra with a peek-behindthe-curtains option for aspiring superfans. The Fantasy VIP Experience provides an opportunity to meet a pair of cast members, who guide participating guests on a showroom tour that includes a preshow photo opportunity, backstage footage, and a bag of merchandise.

“We are very excited,” said Mariah, a co-producer of the show. “We’re trying to limit it to 12 people so it will be intimate. Everybody has a chance to get pictures and ask all the questions they want. At 9:45, we’ll have cast members come and greet and meet all the people that purchased a VIP experience. They’ll usher them in, we’ll show a quick video and they can choose between a glass of champagne or a cocktail. Or a soda.”

The VIPs then meet a couple of cast members before being shown how lighting and sound is produced.

“They can ask literally any questions they want and take as many photos as they

want,” said Mariah. “We’re really, really excited.”

The meet-and-greets The Strip’s Biggest Tease offers after every show remain part of the program, although the time spent basking in the glow of angelic Ashton, ravishing Rachael or sensuous Yesi is fleeting. The Fantasy VIP Experience allows a more casual option for exchanging words and getting that perfect picture with bombshell Abby, superstar Skyla or incomparable Indira.

Backstage access at the Atrium Showroom is prohibited, as it is very prop-heavy— the showroom also hosts

Carrot Top, who uses dozens of props in his 8 p.m. shows. Fantasy has props too, including a bed for a romp-inthe-sheets act. But the show is all about the dancers, who are goddesses onstage but very human when it comes to fan interaction.

There are also new dancers. “In the last year we brought in four or five new ones and in January two cast members (Madison and Rivers) both went full time,” said Mariah. “We have added quite a few new dancers to our roster, and we’re very excited to have brand new energy.”

an up-closeand-personal experience

Explore these hot spots to eat, drink and be merry

For more than 55 years, palatial property Caesars Palace, a playground for the rich and famous (including the legendary Rat Pack) and commoners alike, has drawn guests inside. Throughout its history, Caesars Palace has been through interior and exterior renovations,

led the way for the popularity of themed nightclubs and megaclubs, been home to some of the biggest celebrity chef-owned restaurants, and created a mecca for high-end shopping. There is so much to see and do at Caesars Palace that it might be difficult to know how to narrow down

your choices, and that’s where we come in—we’ve rounded up three of our favorite places to eat, drink and be merry. .

While the property is overflowing with fabulous restaurant options, one cannot miss Bacchanal Buffet. When it opened in 2012, it quickly earned deserved praise for elevating the experience of eating at a Las Vegas buffet. If your group can’t decide on what type

of cuisine to eat, if you have picky eaters in the clan, or if you just want to dine on an insane array of food, this is the place to be. Bacchanal Buffet offers nine open, interactive kitchens serving cuisines like Mediterranean, American, Southeast Asian, Mexican and Italian, along with an abundance of seafood options including market fresh crab legs. Dine on dim sum, Japanese wagyu hot dogs, Roman-style pizza, street tacos, duck carnitas quesadillas and spicy seafood boil bags. Recently introduced are new dinner items like saffron butter-braised lobster claws, barbecue baby back ribs and lentils and baby spring veggies with lentil ragout. Don’t miss the dessert station, too, with yuzu tarts, 10 gelato flavors, salted caramel popcorn and decadent pastries.

It’s a cigar smoker’s paradise, but with the state-of-the-art ventilation system, anyone can enjoy some upscale cocktails at Montecristo Cigar Bar. What’s cool about this place is there are several different spots to chill. Hang in the library portion with high-def TVs displaying sports or take a seat at the bar and chat up a bartender or take it to the back of the venue and hang out in the faux outdoor terrace complete

with lush greenery. At Montecristo, this is the spot for those that enjoy brown spirits—the list is huge! Enjoy Japanese, Irish and Canadian whiskies along with Lowland and Highland Scotch whiskies, American whiskey, Tennessee whiskey and bourbon whiskey. There’s also the exclusive Captain’s List with 2-ounce pours of selections like WhistlePig, Buffalo Trace, Pappy Van Winkle, Michter’s, The GlenDronach and Eagle Rare. Montecristo also offers its own specialty cocktails

like the favorite Blood & Sand, pictured, a mix of Dewar’s blended Scotch whiskey, Heering cherry liqueur, Casa Martelletti sweet vermouth and orange juice.

By now, everyone has heard about or seen the show Absinthe —its reputation precedes itself. But there are many more ways to be merry at Absinthe than seeing the show, and you don’t even have to purchase a ticket. Stop by the spiegeltent that sits Stripside on the Caesars Palace plaza and hang out and drink and frolic inside The Green Fairy Garden. A lush outdoor escape lit up by the Electric Oak tree, it offers guests a fun time with several bars inside shipping containers. There is also a hidden speakeasy inside the Green Fairy Garden: Pier 17 Yacht Club. Here, guests can enjoy specialty cocktails and indulgent bites like yacht tots with caviar. Also at the Garden, guests can now enjoy the No Pants burger stand, serving what Absinthe is billing as the “best burger in Las Vegas” in addition to cocktails. If you’ve heard all the raunchy rumors about Absinthe (and they’re all too true), then expect The Green Fairy Garden and all its tenants to offer the same cheeky experience.

The Stage is Set

Anthem Country Club home is a true showcase

Since it was established in 1999, Anthem Country Club has been a highly desired destination in the Las Vegas Valley. Its residents over the years have included Rudy Ruettiger and Harry Reid, and its amenities are exceeded only by the high standards in home design.

There’s a par-72, 7,373-yard championship golf course designed by Hale Irwin—Keith Foster, six lighted tennis courts and four pickleball courts and a clubhouse with a restaurant. With its location (resting at a 2,600-foot elevation in the foothills of Black Mountain), it

also boasts some of the best views in the entire valley. And a home has just become available there, one that is perfect for larger families.

Listed by Landon Boeckle of The Boeckle Group, this 7,018-squarefoot, two-story estate is truly a thing of beauty both inside and out. Across

its five bedrooms, six bathrooms and four-car garage, the attention to detail is apparent in even the tiniest area, from the grand chef’s kitchen with modern appliances to the great room with large windows and glass walls opening to covered patios.

Another thing that makes this home stand out is the atmosphere created by Stately Home Staging. Using a combination of modern and classic pieces, Stately Home Staging, led by lead interior designer Heidi Carlsen, created a homebuyer’s

dream. Stately mixed clean lines and neutral colors with traditional textures and patterns to create a timeless look in areas like the proper bar, media room, library and barbecue/ summer kitchen. This was achieved with touches like sleek, off-white sofas paired with a hand-knotted rug, a set of mid-century modern chairs and a few black accents. In other areas, the team used materials like wood, metal and marble.

When you add in the magnificent backyard, which includes an infinity

pool and spa and outdoor fireplace, you have an irresistible property.

Best of all? Not only will you feel a genuine sense of privacy and security, thanks to the home being located behind a double-guard-gated street, the home is perched high in the hills above the golf course, guaranteeing unobstructed views of the entire valley.
