Dear Pigeon Forge Rod Run Guest:
I would like to take a second and welcome everyone to the Spring 2024 Pigeon Forge Rod Run. This is the 42nd year of this event, and it gets bigger and better every year.
Eleven years ago Rod and Byron of MCS Promotions asked ScottieDTV to be part of this awesome event, and gave me 12 spots on the front row of the LeConte Center to display vehicles that had been on the ScottieDTV YouTube Channel.
We had the year of COVID when the spring event was moved to the fall, so 2024 will be the 10th anniversary of the ScottieDTV Dirty Dozen at the spring event.
The ScottieDTV Dirty Dozen are 12 personally selected vehicles by me to represent ScottieDTV at the spring 2024 Pigeon Forge Rod Run. It’s been an awesome opportunity for me to invite people to one of my favorite events of the year, and enjoy a weekend of hot rods and awesome people!!
The Smoky Mountains are truly some of God’s best work, and spring is always a beautiful time to enjoy it! I hope everyone has a great time at the spring 2024 Pigeon Forge Rod Run event, and hope y’all will be back for many more!! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and once again I hope you enjoy your weekend!
Enjoy the Show!

If you are covered by a typical insurance policy, you may be paying too much and paying for the wrong kind of coverage. Standard automobile policies may not offer Agreed Value Coverage, so in the event of a loss, you will be offered a settlement amount (Actual Cash Value) less than what it will cost to replace your “pride and joy”. There’s more, standard auto policies don’t always give a price discount for the “care, custody and control” you give your collector automobile. In short, standard auto policies do not reflect an understanding of how fine collector cars are maintained and enjoyed.
However, we at Farris Insurance Agency Inc. can offer you an insurance program that really demonstrates the value and the uniqueness of your vintage or classic car(s). We can give you a better solution by working with experts who are collectors themselves. Grundy Worldwide, Hagerty Insurance and American Collectors, have been insuring these special vehicles for almost 50 years. We provide peace of mind protection to over 4000 car collector individuals and families.
Program Features:
• Coverage for individual cars and collections.
• Agreed Value Coverage.
• High liability limits.
• Unlimited “hobby” mileage.
• $0 deductible, NC has $50 deductibles.
• Prompt, fair claim service.
• Competitively priced.
• Excellent customer service. We have 30+ years writing collectors and collections.
THE ULTIMATE 7
THE
Scottie D
How did a guy from Ohio come to put his roots in East Tennessee and become a Youtube success and champion for Knoxville? After his time in the service, he met a gal from Alabama and married her. When they were deciding where to make their life, they pulled out a map and Knoxville was pretty much in between his family in Ohio and hers in Alabama. That decision led to his divine Intervention moment after living in East Tennessee for over 18 years. Scottie’s close friend kept “beating him up” about doing dual purpose videos and stills of Hot Rods. Contrary to what you’re thinking- no Scottie did not have a videographer background, he had been in the mortgage business for over 25 years! Hot Rods and food were just his passion. And on that fateful Saturday his friend was calling to hound him yet again, to which Scottie almost didn’t take the call. But luckily for us he did! His friend told him about Youtube and how they
were paying for videos, etc., so now was the time to strike. The next morning, Scottie sat straight up in bed with his ah-ha momentScottie D TV- Cooking & Hot Rods! And so his passion for food and cars put him on his path. But it was not an easy one. No start up income, no formal background training; just a 40+yr old guy & an eye for cars began his new adventure. It was a struggle to say the least He lived on someone’s farm, tethering to their slow Internet or going to Hardee’s to hook up to theirs to upload videos. After about 2 years, he realized people were more interested in Hot Rods than the cooking, so his focus switched to just amazing cars, and those who build and own them.
“I have been Blessed to do what I love and get to make a difference in people’s lives” Scottie admits. But how does videoing a Hot Rod help someone? ScottieD says “You have no idea how many people have been brought to tears or told me that it meant so much to them to have me shoot their car
or their work. Many have said “No one paid attention to my car before and now look at all the likes and comments it’s gotten.” It’s validation for all the hard work, time and money spent on their own passion. There have been a few that hold a place in my heart such as Tribute builds I’ve been honored to video. And even one that involves a good friend of mine here in Knoxville, Steve at Pro Auto. A soldier in Afghanistan had called asking him to work on the interior of his truck, and of course Steve said sure and that was that. Well, apparently he’s a big fan of ScottieDTV.com and had seen builds from Steve on my channel. His fellow soldiers in Afghanistan had also and didn’t believe Steve would actually be doing work on his truck, that Steve would only work on highend builds. They must have been giving him down the road pretty hard because the next thing we knew, Steve had called me saying the soldier had flown in just to have his picture taken with us and get our autographs! That’s one of those moments that just hit you!
ScottieDTV now has over 1800 videos, 120,000 subscribers, over 1.5 million views a month and is watched in over 250 countries worldwide! Because of his “passion”, he has found success doing what he loves. It’s never work when you love what you’re doing!
What’s Cooking Shorty?
Javier "Shorty" Ponce is no newcomer to the custom car scene; he's been operating his own custom shop for over 20 years, and you've seen plenty of his work on Iron Resurrection. Shorty may have been born in Mexico, but he's been living his American dream—working on cars—since he was 12 years old, and now he's helping make others' dreams come true on his show, Shorty's Dream Shop. It may not be true for everyone, but a big part of the American dream has always been owning a cool car, however the individual chooses to define that. Shorty has always loved the nostalgia of cars and understands the special place they hold in their owners' hearts. On Shorty's Dream Shop, you can watch as he and his talented team make car dreams a reality for deserving owners.
Ponce isn’t a novice at reality TV either. Shorty, a high school nickname in reference to his height, was a regular on Iron Resurrection. That series follows a small crew who transform rusted-out motorcycles and cars before selling them to the highest bidders.
When Ponce left the show before its 2020 season debut, fans made YouTube videos theorizing and later explaining why Ponce was no longer a cast member. (He left to spend time with his granddaughter and attend to the work mounting at his own shop).
The 60-year-old Oak Cliff native is known in the classic car restoration world as one of the best painters in the business. More than 44,000 classic car aficionados follow Ponce on Facebook, where he invites fans to stop by car shows, snag his latest merchandise decorated with a Shorty cartoon or watch him work in his “kitchen,” the paint studio. The network series following him and his crew serves as a vehicle for him to do more of what he said he’s truly passionate about: “I prefer to just be working on cars.”
And ealier this month in Las Vegas, Javier was inducted into the Hall of Honor at the Diecast Super Convention. “I’m super excited to share what I consider a great honor. I got to meet some of the most talented designers in the diecast industry and some of the biggest legends in the car
world like “the Snake” Don Prudhomme, Kenny Youngblood and Larry Wood aka Mr. Hot Wheels. We also got to hang out with some of our good friends. Many thanks to my friend, Carson Lev, and to others involved in making this happen. It was a great weekend that I will not forget.”

Although far from the busy Parkway, Little Black Bear Cafe is definitely an important part of the Pigeon Forge experience. Thankfully, the trolley will take you right to their doorstep where they are ready to serve your homemade dishes. You can order breakfast good enough to write home about or enjoy their soups, sandwiches, and desserts. www.lilblackbearcafe.com
