As a realtor in Massachusetts, I take great pleasure in the marketing and sale of distinctive homes. Part of that journey for a buyer is learning about the myriad cultural, culinary, and recreational amenities at the doorstep of their new home. I created this Lifestyle Guide for them, and as a source of information for existing residents and their guests. This guide was completed in the winter of 2020, just prior to the pandemic, which led to a reshuffling of our small businesses, especially restaurants. Many closed, only to be replaced by others (For instance, in West Stockbridge, Rouge gave way to Aqua 2, and in Lenox, Prime segued to Yao Asian Fusion), others kept (Zinc in Lenox, Mezze in Williamstown, Koi and Cafe Adam in Great Barrington, District and Dottie's in Pittsfield), while new ones have arisen where none were before. So, do seek recommendations, and if you want to visit an old favorite, please do check online. However the Berkshire restaurant scene may have changed, it and our world-class cultural and incredible range of recreational offerings are more vibrant than ever. In the arts... MASSMoCA, the Clark and Williams College museums, Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow Dance FestivaL, five Equity theatre companies, and performing arts venues such as the Mahaiwe and Colonial restored historic theaters, St. James Place, the Stationery Factory, and the Egremont Barn, to name a few. For recreation, you'll find five ski resorts, many miles of hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail, mountains to climb, and lakes and rivers aplenty for boating, fishing, swimming, enough to keep you busy and fit for many weekends to come. Of course, if your goal is to be limber, stretched, and pampered, you'll find that at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Miraval Resort, and Canyon Ranch Lenox. Enough said. I hope you'll find my LifeStyle Guide to the Berkshires helpful, and if your wish list includes purchasing a home here, I'll be happy to assist as your buyer's agent.
