NEO SLASHER Originating in the late 1970s as an outgrowth of the Post-punk anti-establishment scene, Neo Slashing emerged as a distinct subsect of hyper-recreational transportation. Its practitioners drew from the unusual sounds of 1960s psychedelia and channeled the urban confusion of the day into the vast openness of the alpine world. They identified with and evangelized the ways of R.A.A.D., or Radical Ascents And Descents, updating in many ways the far more conventional alpine approaches of the day. What made Neo Slashers so avant-garde is that they ascended on two planks but descended on one. With this concept, a revolution was born. While Punk rock, Post-punk, New wave, and other social movements were closely heldâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;and short livedâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;due to minute influences in micro-cultural shifts, Neo Slashing flourished into a more widespread and international movement of seekers who applied the spirit of independent empowerment to new areas of the wild. Outside observers now refer to the process as splitboarding, but to the core and the connected, it will forever remain Neo Slashing for the truly R.A.A.D.

THE BLACK SNOWBOARD OF DEATH At this point in the technical evolution of mankind, it is crazy that we still understand almost nothing about what's here or thereâ&#x20AC;&#x201D;or what here or there even is. I understand very clearly however, that when this portal opens, shit's gonna get wild. It's possible that different physics may exist in a dynamic equilibrium, traveling between who knows how many parallel universes. Maybe I'll find an extra dimension close enough to our home reality, that it will feel like home itself. If the universe really is infinite, then eventually things will repeat. Somewhere, vastly far away, is another copy of Earth and everything in it. And if it's true that there is one repeat, then it must also be true that there are an infinite number of repeats, thus an infinite number of Earths and thus an infinite number of my favorite things all waiting for me. I just need this wormhole to take me to one of them. I raise my hand and repeat to myself: Scared is what I'm feeling. Brave is what I'm doing.

Consumers of the era didn't believe such transportation was possible, so it was intentionally mislabeled as a recreational device that, once purchased and put to use, would transform the enthusiast's life forever. Imagine buying a ticket to Reno and waking up in the outer regions of Neptar. It was a game of chance for those young and old and brave enough to roll the dice. What appears to be a simple board of wood and fiberglass was actually a ring made of cosmic strings, several million light-years across, spinning at nearly the speed of light. KAZU KOKUBO PRO Kazuhiro Kokubo is a legend. He is one of snowboarding's shining stars, admired around the globe for his style and grace under the most demanding of circumstances. Part of the allure of Kazu’s persona is how deeply he is able to share his personal vision of the world. He uses emotive and powerful physical expression and very few words. It’s the understanding that’s important to him, not the noise. It is in this spirit that Kazu has designed snowboards over the years. Always self-reflective and drafted with symbolism connecting his love for his family and nature, his boards have been true to concept, throw-back pro models. The imagery, especially on his base graphics, have depicted visions from Kazu’s mind which remind him of who he is and the ones he loves, thoughtfully brought to life by his friend and tattoo artist Ganji of Three Tides Tattoo in Tokyo. For his 2019 model Kazu explains, “The graphic for this year is of a Japanese angel flying in the sky. She is a symbol of freedom and represents my daughter who was born this past year during the winter season. My wish for her...is to grow up with freedom.” 151

SUPERNOVA Suddenly, with a ferocious grip, the conductor raised his baton and the atmosphere filled with a powerful combination of sound. The woodwinds, the brass, the percussion, and the strings emitted a fury we could feel in our chests. Then, the midnight orchestra quelled, went silent and paused. Beautiful sounds were replaced by an eerie silence, and each moment that passed felt like double the last. There was a sense of anticipation in the stillness, and a new temperature in the air. It held like this until eventually, slowly, you could hear again. A hum slowly built, not from the symphony but from above. The tone transitioned like a crescendo of horns into a wall of sound, yet the musicians sat still, unengaged with their instruments and locked into the sky. The volume began to transform and tremor, vibrating like a stack of ten thousand speakers driven by a Theremin, and as I looked up an explosion illuminated the sky. It was a Supernova and it was the last thing I saw. My last memory of Earth. It was beautiful, magical. The end of one life, and the beginning of another.

From day one, Jess Kimura has been an equalizing force in snowboarding. She is genuine and true to her heart. Always polite but professionally unapologetic, her gritty and dedicated approach to snowboarding has been less about walking through doors and more about kicking them down. Following the release of her first video part, she was nominated for all three major industry awards available to women at the time. That same year, she became the first girl in snowboarding’s history to be nominated for Rookie of the Year and Standout Performance of the Year in traditionally male categories. NAVIGATOR Welcome to the Museum of Interstellar Science. To your right, you’ll find one of the classic planetary exhibits in our collection. Earth, as it was called in its day, was a fascinating, if somewhat short-lived planet that existed on Level 291 of Multiverse v2.3. Primitive as it was, one of the most intriguing things about this little blue planet was how a relatively weak species of primates rose unpredictably to the top of the food chain. Scientists all over the Multiverse have spent significant resources studying how this came to be. Of particular interest was how they managed to destroy their natural habitat as well as 99% of the intelligent life they co-existed with, in such an abysmally short period of time. They never even made it past their own galaxy before their entire civilization imploded in a brilliant flaming ball of ignorance. The lone exception was The Navigator. There are no records of his real name, birthplace, serial code, or the flight path that he was on. Only that he was an Earthling, and he made it out alive. Centuries later when a group of historians and scientists toured the decayed rotating sphere, they visited the base station used on that fateful day. What looked to be etched by hand in the wall of the launch pad, they found the following words:

The SURFLITE 2.0 CORE™ was designed exclusively for our new Spring Break Powder Displacement Snowcrafts to create a core that floats to the top of the deepest powder. In surfboard design, a thicker more buoyant board will help the board float much easier than a thin dense one. With this inspiration, we have developed and now evolved an industry-first core featuring Beech underlays. As each Spring Break Powder Displacement Snowcraft has a unique shape, each SURFLITE 2.0 CORE™ features a unique alignment of Blocked Balsa and strategically placed Poplar throughout the board. In a development partnership with Union Binding Company, we have incorporated Forged Carbon Diamond Plates into the insert area of the core, creating the most high-tech and floatable core of all time. Developed over a three-year span, this advanced resin system has a bio-content of 60% renewable, agricultural raw material. It is plant based that does not compete with primary food sources and is produced with no waste or greenhouse emissions. In production, it has a low-temperature requirement with a high yield output. This resin system is poppy, powerful, and extremely durable. MAGIC BEAN™ resin yields much stronger and more rigid qualities allowing us to decrease the wood core thickness. The Spring Break Powder boards have Forged Carbon Quad Packs in the insert area of the Blocked Balsa SURFLITE 2.0 CORE™, while our legacy series The Black Snowboard of Death features Embedded Forged Carbon Rods integrated into the core eliminating chatter through variable train. With two Carbon Fleece power pads underfoot, maximum thrusting power is achieved for ollies and stability under varied-terrain while torsional forgiveness allows for ease of command while in battle. AmpliTex™ is a next-generation natural flax fiber woven with carbon strands that is featured in our high-end snowboard constructions. This fusion tape brings the best of two worlds: the reactive energy of carbon and the lightweight and dampening aspects of flax. The two fibers are highly compatible since they have similar properties regarding thermal expansion and failure strain, creating a uniformly flexing reinforcement that's light, snappy and durable all in one. Originating from solidified volcanic lava, Basalt is an abundant resource long known for its thermal properties, strength, and durability. When carefully oriented into the board, this natural material helps you increase power and pop while creating a damp, calm ride. With an excellent tensile strength and fatigue resistance, Technora™ is an aramid fiber that functions as a shock absorber and energy source when integrated into a snowboard construction layup. New for the 2019 collection, we have interwoven Technora™ with an extremely lightweight and all natural Flax fiber to invigorate every construction combination with maximum turning and ollie power.

Kevlar is an organic fiber featuring high strength, toughness and thermal stability that shows no embrittlement or degradation at sub-zero temperatures. Applied to the shoulders of the ULTRAFEAR along with high compression strength Titanal alloy thorough the centerline, this BODY ARMOR™ takes the durability and dependability of the ULTRAFEAR to the next level. Known for its rigidity, high tensile strength, low weight, high temperature tolerance, and low thermal expansion, Carbon Fiber is one of the most popular materials used in today’s high performance applications. We press micro-sewn 20 mm beams into our snowboards, increasing power and response while the boards remain ultralight. Titanal is a high strength hardened aluminium wrought alloy with excellent compression strength to weight ratios. A perfect top core structural reinforcement, these 20 mm Titanal Struts are beefed up to a .4mm thickness for 2019. The QUANTUM DRIVE™ running base is formulated with a new blend of compressed ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene. As an evolution from the already blazing fast ULTRADRIVE™ from 2018, this new running base for 2019 and beyond features higher density for durability and absorbs more wax to wick longer and ride faster. Properly maintained sintered bases are fast, durable, and are the preferred choice of many high-end enthusiasts worldwide.

The SUPERDRIVE™ EX base material is a new option in the Sintruded category of boards that deliver benefits of both sintered and extruded bases. The industry has set a standard that high end boards require a sintered base, but many high end riders want to spend their time snowboarding and not at the waxing table. That's where the Superdrive™ EX comes in. These bases take the characteristics and manufacturing techniques used in creating normal extruded base material but due to higher pressure and temperature, increasing the surface hardness to levels near most sintered bases. This increases the durability and surface strength creating a base that will last longer and be more durable when jibbing and ripping around the mountain while retaining a low maintenance and care free lifespan of the board.

If there’s one thing we know about kids and groms, it’s that they can be hard on their gear and they’re never going to wax their snowboard. The XXX[TRUDED] base material is a high density extruded base material that is durable and low maintenance. The relative surface strength equals a base that will last longer and be more durable when jibbing and ripping around the mountain.

This mono-composite Thermoplastic is created using a Fused Deposition Process, also known as Additive Manufacturing, which yields high impact resistance at low temperatures and overall improved durability through extruded ABS—custom shaped and bonded to the wood core.

Damp, durable, and lighter than rubber, our CORK EDGE DAMPENING SYSTEM is placed in between the steel edge and the ABS sidewall for increased protection from blunt force impacts. The ULTRAFEAR features this exclusive dampening system underfoot where most boards meet rails, and the Scott Stevens Pro features a full contact length system because with him, you just never know what’s going to happen. With seven Transworld Good Wood Awards in six years for the DOA series, it’s clear that the performance and value of these boards are unmatched. FORTRESS™ KEVLAR BOUND SIDEWALLS are bonded by a Kevlar “S” wrap from the top of the sidewall to the underside of the core. This lightweight technology binds the sidewall and core material together like no other.

Technology integrated into snowboard construction affects many characteristics of a board’s performance. Flex, along with weight, stability, energy and other factors come into play when considering whether a board is right for you. Flex may be the most important as it will determine how you are able to manipulate your board on snow. Soft, flexible boards are great for jibbing and overall command over your snowboard, especially in the park. They’re easy to ride and very forgiving. Stiffer boards have more pop, more energy, and more stability at high speeds but they require more effort and skill from the rider as well. All boards in this catalog are rated on a scale from 1 to 10. The number given is the estimated resistance the board may provide to the average customer.

1 would be the resistance of a noodle, 10 would be the resistance of a tree trunk. All snowboard shapes are designed with four blend zones. This is the area after the sidecut ends and before the nose or tail shape starts. In this small section, the shape of the board must transition from a sidecut arc going one direction into the tip shape arc going in the opposite direction. This critical section of the board is similar to the steering system in your car. It's the driving force in initiating turns and determining where your board is going. A poorly designed blend zone will cause your board to be hooky or turn slowly and could limit your ability to transition between edges. CAPiTA has taken the time to pay distinct attention to this detail; fine-tuning each and every board to make sure your riding experience is balanced and perfect. 137

A PARABOLIC sidecut consists of a mirror-symmetrical curve. In snowboard terms, this design creates a board with a deeper sidecut and a quicker turning point in the center compared to radial arcs. A PROGRESSIVE sidecut consists of two or more radii blended together to accommodate the three stages of a turn. They provide easy turn initiation while offering greater control throughout the turn and maximum power when exiting. Our NEW AGE DIRECTIONAL sidecuts are progressive sidecuts, which also incorporate a reverse sidecut arc in the midsection of the board. Due to a reduced effective edge as a result of hybrid camber shapes, this reverse camber arc provides a point of contact to retain control throughout the turn and is affectionately referred to as DEATH GRIP™. A RADIAL sidecut is a single radius design that allows your board to start and finish a turn on the same arc.

BLENDED RADIAL sidecuts feature a single radius arc through the midsection of the board combined with a custom designed blend zone at the contact points. Varying the length of these blend zones and tailoring them specifically for certain aspects of riding greatly improves a board’s performance. Inspired by a combination of surfboard design and on snow riding functionality, the all new SURF BLENDED RADIAL sidecut is the ultimate powder surfing shape. This shape features a radial sidecut just through and past the inserts, followed by a huge smooth reverse blend zone and then topped off with a ton of taper. Surf the earth and get loose in the white room! Engineered for deep powder but still versatile around the mountain, this RADIAL sidecut is complemented by a TAPERED TAIL. This narrower tail section naturally sinks in the powder while the wider nose section floats above the snow line. The result is less work and more fun as the board surfs on one smooth continual arc. An ASYMMETRICAL board features different sidecut theories on each edge of the same board. For The Asymulator, we have implemented a large and smooth RADIAL sidecut for the toe-side edge of the board while the heel-side edge of the board features a tighter NEW AGE DIRECTIONAL sidecut with DEATH GRIP™.

With CAPiTA’s FLAT KICK design technology, we’ve tightened the tip profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the tip and tail height on reverse camber boards. The tight tip radius in conjunction with tuned blend zones allows you to have a forgiving and easy to ride reverse camber board that is still responsive and quick during edge to edge transitions. This also creates a flat tip and tail which increases jibbing stability and also helps the board plane on top of powder creating float and control. 141

You don’t like shallow humans, so why would you like shallow topsheets? The DEEPSPACE™ Design Theory takes advantage of the thickness of a transparent topsheet. Strategically layering ink on multiple levels from the top and the bottom we are able to imbue our graphics with a sense of life through depth. Simple in theory, it requires an expert knowledge of ink bonding characteristics and curing times to make production efficient and technically feasible. As base material is thicker and more opaque than topsheets, graphics become more vibrant when ink impregnates the material as opposed to other techniques where the ink is applied to one side or the other. Through sublimation, ink sits closer to the sliding surface and this technique excels when full colors are required. Many long nights were spent tinkering with a complex combination of cook-times, pressure and temperature in a highly controlled environment to achieve some of CAPiTA’s signature base graphics.

Sometimes if we find utilizing a single technique just isn’t enough, we open up the armory and stack one process on top of another! Whether it’s a PAM16000™ printed topsheet with silkscreen embellishments, or a sublimated base with silkscreen and die-cut pieces, MULTITECH™ sends you further into DEEPSPACE™.

The PLT™ machine sits in a secret hidden corner of the factory behind two very unassuming, nondescript metal doors. The PLT™ is so secretive that all visitors to the room must be versed in an ever-changing secret handshake. PLT™ technology is exclusive to CAPiTA MFG and magically bonds the topsheet to an already pressed snowboard. This is magical because the rest of the world mashes their topsheets on with glue, heat and pressure during the pressing stage. Doing so causes the fiberglass structure underneath to show through the topsheet. And because nobody wants to spend their hard earned cash on a bumpy snowboard, many companies slather their tops with a thick toxic lacquer to smooth things out. Not only is that shit HEAVY and can potentially develop unsightly hairline cracks, it’s also really unhealthy for the working environment.
