Notice to the Community – Food Fish BBQ Dear Community Members,
As you are aware, there is a Camp Fire Ban in the area. The Band Manager has spoken with the Fire Department and District of Port Hardy on behalf of Chief and Council regarding the preparati preparation of food fish in the community.
The Fire Ban remains in effect, but the Fire Department and District of Port Hardy have agreed that the Nation can prepare its food fish BBQ with certain conditions:
The Band Manager must provide notice to the Fire Department Department as to when the BBQ’ing is to take place.
A water hose and a 5 gallon bucket of water must be close by.
The camp fires not get too big, avoid cooking under trees or close to brush.
We all want to be safe in these very dry conditions. Please ensure that hat the area around the fire is cleared and watered. If it is too windy, reschedule for another day. We don’t want embers flying around in heavy winds. The pavilion and smoke house are available for use. Please book with the Band Office Reception. Thank nk you for your cooperation and assistance.
