CHAMBER MATTERS 2018
The Chamber’s Golf Classic, presented by Owensboro Health, is known as one of the best outings of the season. The scramble format allows for maximum fun, networking and great competition. Hole sponsors add to the fun by providing goodies and contests at nearly every stop. The scramble features 144 golfers in addition to the fabulous list of sponsors who participate in the event. The event will have a great atmosphere and networking opportunities, including an opening and closing reception, team photos and trophy presentation, as well as press coverage following the event through various media. It’s the best event in town to make new business connections, promote your product or service, and enjoy the competitive spirit of our Chamber members! The Golf Classic is on Friday, August 31 at The Pearl Club at The Summit.
Leadership Owensboro, a program of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, has a tradition of excellence in building and encouraging Owensboro leaders since 1982. The program, boasting an alumni base of more t h a n o n e t h o u s a n d, is the premier local professional development and community learning opportunity. “It is always exciting to anticipate the next class,” said Jessica Kirk, Executive Director of Leadership Owensboro. “Our goal is to build the program each year to enrich and strengthen the tradition that several people in the Owensboro community are extremely proud of.” “Leadership Owensboro is an integral component of our community’s succession plan. Talent drives economic growth,” said Candance Castlen Brake, Chamber President and CEO. Classes consist of nine full-day sessions
that will include topics such as education, human needs and services, local government issues, crime, arts, tourism, health care and more. In addition to the once-monthly classes from September through April, the class members will be required to participate in local civic leadership meetings and will work as a class to present and implement a solution to an identified community challenge. The 2018-2019 schedule begins in September at Rooster Booster and concludes with graduation in May 2019.
