DAVIESS COUNTY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE
The Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service provides our community with science-based education relevant to people of all backgrounds in the areas of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Horticulture, and 4-H Youth Development. We provide soil testing and diagnostic services for plant diseases, insects, weeds, and management recommendations. Family and Consumer Sciences is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals and families resulting in strong families for Kentucky. Educational programs focus on food preservation, food safety, access to nutritious foods, financial education, and promoting healthy homes and communities. The Supplemental Nutrition Education Program (SNAP-Ed) is federally funded and conducted by UK Cooperative Extension. SNAP-Ed provides nutrition education, cooking tips, recipes, and money-saving ideas to limited-resource families. 4-H offers many programs to youth ages 5-19. Youth ages 9-15 are provided with a unique opportunity to experience the best week of summer at West Kentucky 4-H Camp! Youth attending 4-H Camp have the chance to interact with other Daviess County youth, as well as campers from surrounding West Kentucky counties, to gain independence skills and enjoy the outdoors. This 4-day, 3-night event provides everything from crafts and cooking to canoeing and swimming. Teens 16-17 can join us in mentoring these campers to gain valuable leadership experience for future resumes! Adult volunteers are also imperative to make this camping experience possible.

Harvest season is happening all around us and what a time to be thankful for the food our Daviess County Farmers are bringing in from the fields to your tables. We enjoy a food supply that is abundant, affordable and among the world’s safest, thanks in large part to the efficiency and productivity of America’s farmers.
Daviess County Farm Bureau wants you to know that farmers feed your family. Take time today and every day to thank a farmer.
Over a century ago, a handful of those Daviess County farmers saw a need for farmer welfare. Self-employed farmers needed basic services, like insurance and a voice. Service was and continues to be the foundation of everything we do at Daviess County Farm Bureau and our 12,000 plus members. We are the “Voice of Kentucky Agriculture” and are active in all legislative aspects of our county, state, and national governments. At the local level, we support our 4-H clubs, FFA Chapters, teachers educating students about agriculture in the classroom, the Farm-City Breakfast, and the Annual Ag Expo. We also provide academic scholarships for our members’ students, as well as promoting many other local initiatives involving agriculture and education. For your insurance needs, stop by any of our four local offices to get coverage on what’s important to you from someone you know.
Why Farm Bureau? Because personal service from someone you know makes all the difference in making Daviess County a better place to live and work.
