Kentucky House of Representatives Debates Owensboro Community & Technical College 5:30 p.m.

Owensboro Community and Technical College to sponsor October Rooster Booster breakfast Owensboro Community & Technical College (OCTC) is a public, two-year, open admissions college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of the 16 colleges that make up the Kentucky Community & Technical College System. OCTC values innovation, is focused on student learning and is responsive to economic trends. Most OCTC students are from Daviess, Ohio, Hancock and McLean counties, but others travel from elsewhere in Kentucky and southern Indiana, attracted by the Advanced Technology Center and other distinctive programs. These include the first two-year degree program in veterinary technology in Kentucky, cutting edge training in alternative fuels and the first healthcare facilities leadership program in the country. The college encourages its graduates to transfer, creating pathways to baccalaureate degrees in all associate degree programs. OCTC is currently in a fundraising campaign for the ATC: Skilled Trades Center. This top community project will help OCTC address workforce needs for

the foreseeable future. The OCTC Workforce Solutions division provides training for the region and sets the pace for the nation. Workforce Solutions and OCTC Creative Services (OCTV) are working with the American Society of Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the Kentucky Society of Health Care Engineering (KSHE) to produce an innovative online video delivery system for certification nationwide of third party associates working in health care environments. Workforce Solutions is also partnering with the Gates funded organization Jobs for the Future, WGBH-Boston (a PBS affiliate), the National Science Foundation and local employers to create work-based learning activities that will be used as a national model for the country to follow.
