The Lunch Bunch – Build Your Referral Network! A

ny sales book you read, or sales trainer you listen to, will remind you to cultivate your referral network. One key to building that network is to know as much as possible about your “bragging buddies” -- also known as your referral network. A “bragging buddy” helps prospects like and trust you as well as want to do business with you. At the chamber, want to help you develop your “bragging buddy” group. A new opportunity to do that is with our Lunch

Bunch event, which is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the fourth Friday of each month. Bring your lunch, bring a business partner or connection, bring your business cards and meet many other chamber members! At each event, we pledge to have fun, make meaningful connections and grow your “bragging buddy” network. Each time, we will help you learn new networking tricks from each other and how to work a room. We will celebrate business connections made

and invite you to bring others into the fold. If you’ve ever struggled at figuring out how to work a room, meet new people or tell people about your business, this is the place for you on the fourth Friday of each month. Each session, we’ll help you with some great sample questions to try out so that you can make the next member-to-member business connection. Join us at the Lunch Bunch! This month, the Lunch Bunch will meet at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.

WKU-O to sponsor June Rooster Booster breakfast The WKU-O campus began with 82 students that met in only faceto-face classes. Today, WKU-O has more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students. Classes meet face-to-face as well as via interactive television, Internet and web-based, correspondence, and independent studies. WKU-O currently offers 24 bachelor’s degrees. Only offering upper-division courses, WKU-O typically only services transfer students who have met lower-level, general education requirements. For this reason, Joint Admissions agreements have been established with area Kentucky Community & Technical College systems, allowing for a seamless transition to a bachelor’s degree. WKU-O is dedicated to helping members of this community extend their associate degree and pursue a four-year

degree. Higher education is very affordable when students complete their associate degree at an area community college and their bachelor’s degree at WKU-O. But more than just providing students with a degree, WKU-O strives to provide students with the skills and training that will ensure they become contributing citizens of the community.

LET US TAKE YOU THERE IN STYLE,

2014 Emerge Owensboro graduates 26 Twenty-six business leaders graduated on Thursday, May 8 from the Emerge Owensboro leadership development program. The event, sponsored by Western Kentucky University-Owensboro and the WKU Professional Masters in Business Administration program, included a reception for all Emerge and Leadership Owensboro alumni. The Emerge Owensboro Program is a joint program of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation focused on educating and engaging individuals to reach their potential and maximize their impact in the community. “The goal of Emerge Owensboro is to engage community leaders and empower them with knowledge to affect change, and this class definitely stepped up to that challenge,” said Amy Jackson, Chamber President and CEO. Each class is required to present in group projects a solution to a community challenge identified throughout the course.
