Pastors’ note Faithfulness As we move into our 55th anniversary, I cannot help but be reminded of God’s faithfulness. He has surely blessed us in an immeasurable way. We have seen souls won for the Kingdom, we have seen our building extended, and we have seen great spiritual growth. When I think of where God has brought us from, I think of a family that has grown and been stretched. I think of the way God has blessed us with many differing giDs and talents, and I am amazed. So what do we do now? I believe that it is important for us to remember our past and the Lord’s faithfulness and favor over us. As a family of believers, it is our duty to share this faithfulness and tesIfy. In our homes, we need to discuss God’s promises and His fulfillment of these promises. We need to pass on this tesImony to the next generaIon and encourage them to pass it on to the next. The Israelites made a symbol when they crossed the Jordan. They wanted to remember what God had done in the lives of their ancestors and in their own lives. They wanted to remember when they came in and went out that God had been faithful to them and would carry them in the future. So in this Ime of celebraIon at GKM, I just want to remind you that God is faithful, and He will conInue to be faithful. Let us remember and share the blessings of the Lord.

Special Events Anxiety and Depression Seminar, Wednesday, May 25th 7pm @ GKM According to Health Canada, approximately 1 in 5 adult Canadians will experience depression/anxiety at some point in their life. They may experience nervousness, guilt, irritation, obsessive behaviour, low self-esteem, and overwhelming negative thinking. Over 15 years ago Mike Glugosh was held captive by his own fears and depression. Mike will share his story of recovery, while providing valuable skills for dealing with depression and anxiety. He was a pastor for many years and has been working for the Midwest Center for stress and anxiety for over 14 years.

Parenting Tips
We are always looking for volunteers
Teaching Character to Three-Year-Olds Different character qualiIes can be emphasized at different developmental stages. A newborn, for example, learns about love, trust, and a posiIve view of the world because of the loving care given by parents. As children grow and develop, new character qualiIes are added to the picture. Preschoolers are at a strategic age to learn so much about life. CreaIvity, compassion, paIence, confidence, and cooperaIon are just a few of the many new qualiIes that begin to develop during these years. Two character qualiIes, in parIcular, become a focus in the parent/child relaIonship: Self-‐discipline and responsiveness to authority. But please don't think that teaching these qualiIes requires harshness, demandingness, or an authoritarian approach. Rather, these qualiIes can be taught with a loving firmness that prepares children for greater success in life. Preschoolers learn self-‐discipline skills by coming when called instead of running away. These children also learn about a bedIme and how to hold a parent's hand in a store or out in public. Children resist these aZempts to help them learn to give up their agenda, but that's what self-‐discipline is all about. Even adults resist a diet, staying on a budget, or an exercise program. If we can teach children self-‐discipline when they're preschoolers, they'll begin to develop significant tools for when they get older. Talk about self-‐discipline with preschoolers. They may not understand the term yet, but they'll grow into it. We can teach self-‐discipline through a number of family rules. When we go into a store, we have the "No Touch Rule." When in a library or bank, we may use the "Don't be Wild Rule." When you first teach rules like these, start by making them fun. Teach the rules like a game, then put them into pracIce in life and enforce the new rules with repeIIon and pracIce. "But my kids won't do these things," you may say. And maybe they won't unless you pracIce. But the preschool years are an excellent Ime to build some character qualiIes that will last a long Ime in a child's life. Are motivated, excited, and enthusiastic about being and learning from these special children Display high energy, creativity, and patience, and who believe special needs children can love God and serve their world. Long to share God’s own heart and learn how to bring hope and healing to families who feel “left out” at church. We’ll provide the training you need to be effective and comfortable in this ministry. You provide the love!

Blooming Flower Cupcakes What You Need 1 pkg. (2-layer) size white cake mix 1 container (18 oz.) ready-to-spread white frosting 192 Mini NILLA Wafers 1/4 cup assorted colored sugars
Make It Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for 24 cupcakes; cool completely. Frost cupcakes. Arrange 8 wafers around top edge of each cupcake to resemble flower petals; sprinkle with sugars.
