Pastor’s Page Life with Jesus, Everyday, Everywhere. “How many lives shall I touch today? How many neighbors will pass my way? I can bless so many and help so much, If I meet each one with a Christlike touch.” -‐ Jones
We need to remember the movement founded by Jesus was largely a market place movement, a connection among people who were experiencing a way of life together. Like Jesus, we are to be reaching people, connecting with people, where they live, work and play. Life with Jesus, everyday, everywhere! It is vital that we as believers are externally focused. The great commission is not to bring people into a building or to a program, but to point people to the Savior, Jesus. Matthew 28:19 declares, “Go make disciples.” It’s about everyday believers, common believers in love with Jesus, sharing and demonstrating His redemptive intention to the world. Into our streets, homes, schools, workplaces, sporting arenas… wherever we find a broken, sinful world. “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good enough for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-‐15

When the people of God act like the people of God, people will see and sense God. However, if we don’t, something significant is lost. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” John 20:21. What the Lord has reminded me of in recent weeks is that I am called to a harvest, not a storehouse. The harvest is always the focus. As the farmer must go into the field to reap, we must be present in our world and communities to gather the harvest. The storehouse is a good place for fellowship, but if we stay there, the vision will be lost. 1

Missions
November will challenge us to look at our lives and consider what we are doing to make disciples for Christ. Our special guests include Rev. Stewart Hunter, PAOC Missions Rep, and Regional Directors of Southeast Asia, Peter and Sandra McIntosh. Sandra is the author of a great article in the August/September 2011 Testimony Magazine entitled, “Ten Tough Lessons.” Making disciples is not easy; here are some lessons that Sandra has learned through the years: 1. I’m easily replaced. God has no lack of people ready to do what He needs. 2. Dying to self is easy to sing about. I love that even as we fight with preserving ourselves, our pride, our position and our ability, He helps us, through experience, finger by finger, to let go. 3. Without Jesus, we can all plunge to the worst depths. In nations where no memory of Christianity exists and idol worship is rampant, the results are devastating. 4. Missionaries are just people living in another country. They aren’t special agents in God’s kingdom or different from you in any way. 5. Living in another culture reveals things about you that you couldn’t be aware of otherwise. Things that are buried in your heart tend to surface when you are exposed to the pressures of living in a completely different context. 6. If you don’t think you are ethnocentric, live in another country and count all the times you say, “In Canada, we ...” Things we think are right and normal are often just Canadian. When living in another context, you desperately want to impose your idea of “right” living on everyone else. 7. We all translate our Christianity through our culture and think we are living biblically. Jesus loves the whole world. Why do some people go hungry? Because some believe they are “blessed” and deserve to have everything they want. 8. People don’t know what they don’t know. Many things that are written in this article can be understood only as you walk in similar shoes or as the Holy Spirit reveals them to your heart.

9. Sometimes God calls you to hard things. God asks us to give up everything to follow Him, which usually involves discomfort. 10. Jesus is enough. Jesus is our joy, our song, our help, our teacher, our comfort, our lover - everything. Because of Him and Him alone, everything I experience is worth it. At the end of the day, it’s all for Him. Sandra’s full article can be found at www.testimonymag.ca. We look forward to the lessons that God will reveal to us this November.

KINGD OM KIDS Parenting Tips: We are always looking for volunteers for the Children’s Ministry. Please see
Leading Kids to Jesus Can children be saved? Yes they can. A large percent of Christian adults point to a time in their childhood years (fourteen and under) when their conversion took place. Because the Bible does not say much about children becoming Christians, we tend to struggle when trying to involve children in spiritual training. Our struggles are demonstrated when we are confused about what to say or do with children and become afraid or nervous when we try to talk to children about salvation. In sharing Christ with children here are some child friendly terms that can be used: Sin: things we do wrong or making bad choices Punishment: get into trouble, time out Crucified: died on a cross Savior: forever friend who took your place Resurrection: Alive again, did not stay dead “Ask Jesus into your heart” Follow Jesus, become a Christian Let Jesus be Lord: Follow what Jesus says, ask him for help to do the right thing Confess: tell something you did wrong Eternal life: live forever in heaven with Jesus.
Receiving Jesus is as easy as ABC A!
- Admit the things you have done wrong
B!
- Believe in Jesus
C!
- Choose to follow Jesus
