Family Resource Center of Zion

The Heartbeat of FRCZ 2019 Walk for Life What a great day! We welcomed many new faces and rejoiced in those who have been coming for years. Lakeview Church was once again a marvelous host. This year, their Youth Group and Staff joined in to help with set up and take down, as well as, face painting and kid’s crafts. Members of the Christian Life School, National Honors Society gathered raffle prizes and wore character Costumes, borrowed from Ministerio El Profetico Cueva de Adulam, passing out candy to all. For the first time this year, we were joined by the members of Enlightened Rydaz Motor Cycle Club, who helped E.S.D.A. keep us safe on our walk. Our total was $21,413.04 with more coming in.

Making Life Disciples In 2016, Care Net and Life Way Research released groundbreaking research concerning abortion and the church. It found that women go silently from the church to abortion clinics. More than 4 in 10 women who have had an abortion were church goers when they had the abortion. We need to strategically place fellow believers as first responders to those facing a pregnancy decision. We are excited that 4 classes have been held by 3 of our sponsoring churches. 24 men and women have completed the study and are prepared to take the front line. North Point Church has held two classes, Cornerstone Community Church and Christ Community Church have each held one. The more people who are educated, the more opportunity to change or even save a life. Call or stop by the center to receive information to bring to your church leaders. There are trained volunteers ready to present to your small group or entire congregation. Please contact Mary, today, 847-731-8370 or Maryfrcz@yahoo.com.

We are still in need of boys & girls summer clothes sizes 12 months – 5T. What we have on the racks right now (in those sizes), is all we have. Please check your closets, bins, boxes as well as those of family and neighbors for anything that can help stock our racks. THANK YOU!

A FRCZ staff person will pick up the bottles from your congregation and report back with the amount of money raised.

This edition we would like to introduce you to: Lisa Childers–Roberts — Lisa has been working with moms at the center since 2012. Lisa is a quiet voice and good listener to our women who come to the center. Lisa is a wife, mother and grandmother. She is extremely supportive, especially of young moms.

Elizabeth Harris—Joined us in 2018. She is our primary evening English speaking Peer Advocate. Elizabeth has a passion to empower women through the knowledge of Jesus. She enjoys family time, especially with her daughters.

Tom King —Tom has been a part of FRCZ long before becoming our main Men’s Peer Advocate in 2017. He enjoys the outdoors, being a grandpa and spending time with other Christian men, building relationships and supporting family.

Liz Henry— Liz has been a volunteer since 2017, becoming our main evening Spanish speaking Peer Advocate last year. When Liz is not at the center she is helping seniors in their homes and spending time with family.

Community Character Walk Join us Thursday, September 12 as we join in a night to celebrate all of the good things that are happening in Zion. We will be coming together as a community to meet neighbors and make friends with people who are working to make Zion a better place. The Community of Character Walk is sponsored by the Zion Police Department and the Zion Park District. Each year they seek to identify those organizations/businesses/ groups that are already doing good work in Zion and extend invitations for them to join on this walk. FRCZ has once again been invited, please join us. 6pm at the Band

Fall Banquet SAVE THE DATE! This years Fall Fundraising Banquet will be held October 3rd at Cornerstone Community Church with Violet’s decorating and catering the event. We look forward to an upscale evening with room for everyone.

Senate Bill 25 was signed into law by Governor JB Pritzker on June 12, 2019. The law takes effect immediately. SB 25 is a massive expansion of abortion “rights” bill that: 1) Creates a fundamental right to abortion. 2) Re-defines “fetal viability” and “health of the patient”. 3) Jeopardizes enforcement of the Parental Notice of Abortion Act. 4) Would effectively eliminate licensing and health and safety inspections of abortion clinics. 5) Forces all private insurance companies to cover abortion with no exception for churches, synagogues, mosques and other religious institutions to get insurance plans that do not pay for abortions 6) Would now allow non-physicians (advanced practice registered nurses) to do chemical/medical abortions like the dangerous RU-486 for the first time in Illinois. 7) Removes language with requirements for physicians if babies are born alive in abortion. 8) Removes any independent rights of a fertilized egg, embryo, or fetus under the laws of this Act. 9) Removes the law prohibiting “referral fees” or kickbacks for abortion referrals 10) Removes the requirement for county coroners to investigate a “maternal or fetal death due to abortion https://illinoisrighttolife.org/sb-25-heres-what-the-abortion-bill-will-do/
