WELCOME PANTHERS FANS
TO THE 2021 FOOTBALL SEASON>>> PARENTS, STUDENTS AND FANS OF PANTHER FOOTBALL, Welcome to another exciting year of Panther Football! As the very proud Athletic Director of Annapolis High School, I want to thank you for your support of our student-athletes. We know that students, who participate in athletics and extra-curricular activities, excel academically. The hard work, dedication and time management skills athletes must have to be successful on the field pay off in the classroom and later in life. We appreciate your positive support of our athletic programs. We believe that athletic competition builds character and encourages our students to work through challenges as part of a team. Our programs strive to promote and reinforce principles of good sportsmanship, while our philosophy holds that sports are very important, they are only one portion of our total educational program. Thank you again for supporting Panther Football and our entire Panther Athletic Program. Your encouragement let’s all our student-athletes know how valuable their participation is.

Remembering
FRED STAUFFER FEBRUARY 25, 1940 - APRIL 16, 2020 Sadly, In the spring, long time Annapolis Senior High athletic director, coach and teacher, Fred Stauffer passed away. Mr. Stauffer did so much good for Annapolis athletics and students. The street leading to Al Laramore Field is named after him. Please take a moment to reflect on what a great person Mr. Stauffer was whenever you enter Mike Busch Athletic Complex. The Fighting Panthers are wearing a memorial decal on their helmets in honor of Mr. Stauffer.
HEAD COACH >>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL
DEAR ANNAPOLIS COMMUNITY, As I write this in June of 2020 there is a lot of uncertainty. Due to the pandemic it is unclear if it will be deemed safe enough for your Fighting Panthers to take the field this fall. Whether the season comes on time, is delayed, or is postponed for the foreseeable future it will be the 100th football team in the storied history of Annapolis High School. We make it a focus for our current players to realize they are part of a long, storied history and it is their mission to not only be part of the legacy, but to add to it. ONE HUNDRED TEAMS! It is very special! I must say thank you to all the players, coaches and supporters that made up the last 99 teams. We will do our best to make the 100th something special. More importantly than if we can suit up and compete on the gridiron is the civil unrest we are currently experiencing in our country. This may be somewhat cliché, but I wholeheartedly believe in how Coach Bill Curry sums up the football huddle: “On Friday Nights, the community huddles, and people sit together that never sit together the rest of the week, and when somebody’s son scores a touchdown, the most unlikely hugs occur. Those children that have been raised to hate each other by the sick folks in our culture, get in the locker room, they get in the huddle and they learn to love each other. That love and respect regardless of the color of one’s skin, regardless of their religion, regardless of national origin, it lasts the rest of their life.” Annapolis Football perfectly illustrates that point, and as long as I am the coach here our team will HUDDLE, not because it offers a strategic advantage (it doesn’t!), but because I want our players who are our future, to literally be shoulder to shoulder, out of breath, sweating and bleeding to talk & communicate in order to figure out how they will overcome the collective challenge ahead of them TOGETHER.
