WELCOME CONCORD MINUTEMEN FANS

TO THE 2021 FOOTBALL SEASON>>> DEAR CONCORD HIGH FOOTBALL FANS, The past three years have presented challenges for schools and athletics in ways that we never imagined. Not only have we have faced poor air quality and excessive heat making it impossible to conduct safe practices and competitions, we are experiencing unparalleled challenges related to public health, education, and educational based athletics. We strive daily to balance our belief that athletics and other extracurricular activities are paramount for our students, both physically and mentally with the need to keep our students and coaches safe. This is a difficult challenge and we deeply understand what is at stake. We are excited to be able to provide a football season in, even if it means that it looks “different” than it has looked in the past.

Please follow Concord High Football at @ CHSMinutemenFB and Concord High School at @concord_high and share your experiences with the community! Finally, thank you to the coaches, parents, teachers and other supporters that have helped to support these players as they walk on the field. HEAD COACH >>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL

WELCOME TO THE CONCORD MINUTEMAN FOOTBALL FAMILY. I am ecstatic to have the privilege to be the Head Coach at Concord High School. This season will mark my fourth season as a Head Coach and I could not be more excited to launch into this journey with the Players, Coaches, Teachers, Administrators and Fans who in my time as a coach on the opposite sideline have always been among the most passionate, hardworking and committed. This tradition of excellence from top to bottom is what excited me most about the opportunity to lead this program. The 2020-21 Minutemen have attacked the change with great enthusiasm and resolve. Our team is ready to show you, their family and fans what it means to be a Minuteman. This opportunity for these young men to don the Green and Gold tonight marks the culmination of all the hard work and sacrifice that they have put into this moment, the hours of homework, the long arduous training sessions, the practices in the hot sun. None of which would have been possible without the commitment of the parents to drive players to and from practices, the commitment of the teachers that stayed late or offered their time to help make sure their students are eligible and our administration for providing an effective and supportive learning environment for the whole campus. On behalf of our Coaches and Players I would like to thank all of you who don’t get to be on the field tonight for those sacrifices that you have made along the way to make this opportunity to play and coach this great game of football possible.

GO MINUTEMEN!!

WR QUARTERBACK (QB): The player who receives

TE

the ball from the center at the start of each play before either handing it to the running back, throwing it to a receiver, or running with it himself. The quarterback is usually the player in charge of running the offense on the field. He is also the guy that usually informs the offense of the play while in the huddle.

LT

snaps) the ball to the quarterback at the start of each play. The center lines up in the middle of the offensive line, between the offensive guards.

FB

DEFENSIVE END (DE): A defensive player who

lines up at the end of the defensive line. The job of the defensive end is to contain the running back on running plays to the outside, and rush the quarterback on passing plays.

DT LB NT FS DE

DEFENSIVE TACKLE (DT): A defensive player who lines up on the interior of the defensive line. The duties of a defensive tackle include stopping the running back on running plays, getting pressure up the middle on passing plays, and occupying blockers so the LB’s can roam free. NOSE TACKLE (NT): A defensive tackle who lines up directly across from the center. Also known as the nose guard, the primary responsibilities of the nose tackle are to stop the run and occupy the offensive lineman to keep them from blocking the linebackers. LINEBACKER (LB): A defensive player who lines up behind the defensive linemen and in front of the defensive backfield. The linebackers are a team’s second line of defense. Each team has two outside linebackers. In a 4-3 defense, teams have one inside linebacker, which is usually referred to as a middle linebacker. In a 3-4 defense teams have two inside linebackers.
