WELCOME SHARKS FANS
TO THE 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON>>> As always, our young men and women have worked very hard all summer long in preparation for our upcoming season. We ask that you stay positive and supportive of our programs at Gulf Coast throughout the season. Shark Football is ready for action and has three home football games this season led by our new head football coach. Coach Nichols and our football players worked hard this summer to prepare for this year. We are looking forward to seeing their efforts pay off not only on the field, but also in the classroom.Let’s stand behind and support our Sharks throughout the season! Entering his sixth year as a Shark, Mr. Justin Goff continues to lead one of the most talented band programs in the state of Florida. Throughout his time as band director, the band has participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York as well as the Fiesta Flambeau San Antonio Parade. And as you will see, their halftime performances are incredible so make sure you stay in your seat! In her second year at Gulf Coast, Ms. Crystelle Douglas our head Cheerleading Coach for the Sharks is very excited about working with our cheer squad. She has a cheer program with lots of talents and knowledge of the sport. As you are watching the games, look for some great routines on the sidelines from our Shark cheerleaders! Your support of all of our athletic and activities programs here at Gulf Coast High School is greatly appreciated. With your support, we are able to maintain our successful programs and continue to improve on our facilities. Please support both our band and football booster clubs who work very hard to assist with the success of our school. We are lucky to have such dedicated parents involved. Their contributions to our athletic and student programs are immeasurable and your future support would be appreciated. I encourage you to have some fun tonight and cheer positively for your schools’ team, cheerleaders, and band during their performances. While you are watching, please keep in mind all the hard work put in by the students, coaches, and sponsors to be ready for tonight’s event. Most importantly, please show great sportsmanship towards both school and the officials. Win or lose, I hope that you will have a good time and leave Gulf Coast High School impressed by our staff and students. Enjoy the game!
GO SHARKS!

>>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL
HEAD COACH
GULF COAST SHARK FOOTBALL FAMILY, The staff and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how excited we are to represent you and Gulf Coast High School. As we kick off the 2020 football season we’d like to say thank you for giving us the opportunity to lead the Gulf Coast Shark Football Program. We know this season may be filled with new and unusual challenges and we see these challenges as opportunities for growth and a time to focus on our football program philosophy and program goals. Our Shark Football Program philosophy includes an emphasis on culture, pride, character, evaluation and attitude. We are committed to cultivating a culture and environment where players have opportunities to develop leadership, character, a positive attitude, and a commitment to succeed as student athletes and members of their community. Our program goals are to 1) Excel and earn an education; 2) Represent our school and football program in a first class fashion; and 3) WIN! Be winners in everything we do (in the classroom, in the community, on the field, and in life). In order to achieve these goals we will buildupon the strengths of the school and community who will help us develop student athletes to be exceptional on and off the field.
As we work towards achieving our program goals we recognize that success requires a team and community effort. Therefore, we thank you in advance for all your support. As we embark on this journey together, please don’t be a stranger. Say hello, introduce yourself, and know that we look forward to being immersed in the Gulf Coast Shark Football Program and the community as we teach, coach, and mentor student athletes and work to cultivate a football family like no other. GO SHARKS!
Todd Nichols
Varsity Head Coach
Todd Nichols
>> VARSITY HEAD COACH
In February 2020, Todd Nichols became the Head Football Coach of the Gulf Coast Sharks after leading the defense in the 2019 season. Coach Nichols has been coaching for more than twenty-five years and his experience includes being an Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Sharks between 2012-2015 as well as Head Football Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator and Strength Coach at other high school programs in Florida and Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator at the collegiate level in Illinois. Over the past two decades, Coach Nichols has developed a teaching and coaching philosophy that has been influenced by the numerous coaches he has worked with and been mentored by over the years. This includes coaches from various high schools across the state of Florida, coaches from all divisions of the collegiate level, and former coaches, players and colleagues coaching in the NFL. One of Todd’s greatest strengths as a teacher and coach is his ability to develop meaningful relationships with student athletes to promote the development of life skills necessary to be successful on and off the field for years to come. When Todd is not teaching and coaching football he enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and their two Golden Retriever rescues (Jovi & Milo).
