WELCOME LS PREP FALCON FANS
TO THE 2021 FOOTBALL SEASON>>> We are very excited to see Coach Hazel's seventh season at La Salle officially kick off! Last year was very enjoyable year and I am eager to see what the boys can achieve on the field as the season unfolds. Coach has assembled a highly qualified staff to serve as great role models for young men. In the offseason it has been a pleasure to observe them work on establishing a team culture to serve as a reliable foundation for the grind of a tough football schedule. This season we are going to play again in Special District 1 versus some well-established conference foes and some new opponents. It will be fun to begin new rivalries and continue battling neighboring schools as we strive for the district playoffs. Thank you very much to our students, faculty, staff, parents, boosters, and sponsors this season and throughout the entire school year. The enjoyment and lessons learned through interscholastic competition is of great benefit to our student-athletes and entire school community and we thank you for your support in helping provide these important lessons and lasting memories for our students.

HEAD COACH >>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL
Dear Falcon Football Family,
It is with great honor that I welcome you to the 2020….correction, the spring of 2021 La Salle Football season. It is such a privilege and blessing to be entering my seventh season leading the La Salle Prep Football program. My coaching philosophy is to inspire and empower those that I influence to be leaders that inspire and empower those that they influence. Above everything else, the ultimate goal for the La Salle Prep Football Program is that weimpact the development of great husbands, fathers, and community leaders. The administration, led by our President Andrew Kuffner, Executive Director Matt Winningham, Interim Principal Alanna O’Brien, and Athletic Director Chris George has provided remarkable support to make sure these goals can be accomplished. Our coaching staff has worked tremendously to demonstrate the behaviors associated with these outcomes, and be positive influences for our players on and off the field. Over the past year our players have committed themselves to being the best version of themselves in the most difficult circumstances they have faced. They have succeeded in the virtual classroom, trained without access to a weight room, supported their friends & family, and prepared to compete on the field when they couldn’t access the field. They are excited to compete to the best of their ability this spring and make the Lasallian community proud to be a Falcon! We hope you join us in person or through livestream each and every week as we strive to reach our goals.
THANK YOU AND GO FALCONS!

Keep your head up and your eyes on the ball carrier at all times. Determine the proper angle of pursuit. This depends on the distance between you and the ball carrier and the speed of the ball carrier. If the ball carrier is particularly fast, take a wide angle of pursuit that will allow you to stay between him and your end zone. Close the distance between yourself and the ball carrier. Do not over pursue and allow the ball carrier to run by you.
Break your stance down before contact by bending your knees, getting your hips down, and getting your hands back. Keep good balance by making sure your feet are shoulder width apart or slightly more. Lean your upper body slightly forward. This will allow you to lead with your inside shoulder when making contact. Keep your head up and your back straight. This position is more balanced and safer. You DO NOT want to lead with your head down, it is extremely dangerous for both you and the ball carrier. Be sure to keep your feet moving. You do not want to lose your momentum when breaking down your stance.
When the ball carrier is within your reach, push off with your feet as hard as you can and use your legs to drive through the ball carrier’s body. Drive your lead shoulder into the ball carrier’s hips. As your shoulder pads connect with the ball carrier, wrap him up with your arms just under his butt. This allows you to not only knock him over, but pull his legs out from under him when you extend through him, resulting in a lower chance of your tackle being broken. Get your head ACROSS the ball carrier’s body and in his path. If the ball carrier is going to your left, when you make the tackle he should be on the right side of your head. The opposite is true if he’s running to your right. This will make him less likely to fall forward for an extra yard or so. This can make a huge difference on second, third and fourth downs. You will also be able to better hold the ball carrier next to you, making it harder for him to break the tackle. Again, keep your head up through this step to make sure you are not leading with your helmet. Keep pushing and driving with your feet until the ball carrier goes down. Pick your knees up high in the driving motion. Don’t stop until the ball carrier is on the ground.
