HEAD COACH >>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL
The Oregon City Pioneer Football Program is built on the idea that the game of football can help in the positive personal development of every person affiliated with it. Our vision is to help our studentathletes excel in all facets of High School and beyond; on any path they choose to follow. Football is a vehicle to teach our student-athletes important life lessons including hard work, perseverance, responsibility, accountability, teamwork, grit and toughness. In addition to applying those lessons on the field, we believe it is even more important to apply them everyday, in school, at home and as stewards of the community. It takes a village, and Oregon City has already shown me that it’s people are ready, willing and able to help our team achieve any goal we set out to accomplish, on or off the field. Thank you. I look forward to connecting more deeply to the OC Family and Community, and appreciate your continued support of the 2019 Pioneer Football Team.
GO PIONEERS!! Warmest Regards,
Coach Janz

MASCOT & COAT OF ARMS MASCOT - THE PIONEERS Webster describes a pioneer as a new person or group that originates or helps open up a new line of thought or activity or a new method or technical development. Oregon City was one of the first settlements in the Northwest Territory and was founded and developed by a hardy band of settlers. Through the efforts of these pioneers, Oregon City has the distinction of being named the first capital of the State of Oregon in 1859. It is only fitting that our school should adopt the pioneers as their school mascot. Pioneer Pete has been a true and proud pioneer in every aspect of school life. COAT OF ARMS The Oregon City coat-of-arms was adopted in 1967 after considerable research, many meetings and trail sketches. We feel confident that the future generations of Pioneers will pride in our coat-of-arms and all that it represents. On the crest, is a pioneer, which represents the school as a mascot. The mantling surrounding the coat-of-arms is the Oregon grape, and the state flower. OCHS and the famed waterfalls complete the upper portion. Centered in the lower portion is the coat-of-arms of Dr. John McLoughlin an early pioneer. The elevator is shown directly above the Dr. John McLoughlin coat-of-arms. The atomic symbol, harp, and winged foot all represent the goals in the scholastic and athletic fields. The unique significance in applying the fish and grape in threes represent the close cooperation of the student body, faculty and community.
