WELCOME SRHS PANTHER FANS
TO THE 2021 FOOTBALL SEASON>>>
PARENTS, STUDENTS AND FANS OF SANTA ROSA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL, WELCOME! I would like to thank you for coming to tonight’s game. Your participation and support of our students and coaches is what keeps this program so enriching for our school. We believe that athletic competition builds character and encourages our students to work through challenges as part of a team. Many of the lessons learned on the playing field today become important building blocks for the future of our young athletes’ lives. Our program strives to promote and reinforce principles of good sportsmanship, and while our philosophy holds that sports are very important, they are only one portion of our total educational program. Santa Rosa high school would like to thank Gameday Media for putting together this great program. Also, thank you to all our SPONSORS for their support of our athletic programs, and for purchasing ads in the media guide you are currently holding. Thank you again for being in the stands tonight, and please enjoy the accomplishments of our student-athletes, coaches, and game officials as they give their all for the game. Your presence today lets them all know how valuable their participation is.
GO PANTHERS!

>>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL
HEAD COACH WELCOME TO NEVERS FIELD AND THE HOME OF THE SANTA ROSA HIGH SCHOOL PANTHERS. Tonight’s game will feature two teams that have had long, trying off-seasons wondering if they would have the opportunity to even play this evening. Regardless of the outcome, we are all proud to be able to play once again in front of our friends, family, alumni and community.
To have a football season truly takes a village. We would like to thank our sponsors whose banners you see along the fences and to Game Day Media who put this game program together. We would also like to thank the administration, teachers and staff at Santa Rosa High School for their continued support. A special thanks to our Athletic Directors Kenny Knowlton and Bryan Price for their guidance and support of Panther Athletics. Thank you as well to our families and friends, many who are volunteering all season long helping with team dinners, fundraising, working in the snack bar or on the chain gang, in order to bring the best possible experience to our student athletes. Please support our sponsors and our snack bar, it goes a long way in preserving the tradition that is Panther Football. Enjoy the game!
ENJOY THE GAME!

FIGHT SONG >>SANTA ROSA HIGH SCHOOL
SANTA ROSA, SANTA ROSA, FIGHT ON FOR YOUR FAME! PASS THE BALL RIGHT DOWN THE CENTER, TOUCHDOWN SURE THIS TIME, RAH, RAH, RAH! SANTA ROSA, SANTA ROSA, FIGHT ON FOR YOUR FAME! FIGHT, FELLAS, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! WE’LL WIN THIS GAME
HISTORY BEHIND THE FIGHT SONG: The song was written by Orbin Fortier, who was hired to teach PE and coach basketball when the Mendocino Avenue campus opened in the spring of 1925. The U. Of Wisconsin contributed the tune from its own fight song. When Fortier was hired in 1925, and the Principal, asked Fortier to do all that he could to help the students come together, to "bond". The fight song, the school colors, the Panther Mascot and a student government overhaul resulted from Fortier's efforts. From 1925 until the middle 1960s the fight song was regularly sung at games and other activities. It fell into disuse as student consciousness was "elevated," during the period of campus unrest around the country. In the latter 1990s, English teacher Mike Daniels decided to teach the fight song and SRHS history to his students. On Fridays, he started class only after the song. Often he was the only singer, but the song was out there again. History teacher, Art Horner (pictured) was teaching across the hall from Daniels, when he heard the singing and went into Daniels classroom and asked what was going on. He thought the singing was pretty cool, so he involved his classes with Daniels. It grew from there. Currently, every Friday during football season, the Fight Song is sung between every class! It's a sea of orange & black up there, and it's tough to wade through the throng. Mr Horner starts with the “secret handshake” (seen above with a fellow teacher) that many students have studied over the years and shared with him. IT IS A TRULY INSPIRING AND UPLIFTING SIGHT!
