>>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL

HEAD COACH HEY EVERYONE, it has been too long and I am very happy to finally have football back in our lives! I wanted to first take the time to thank you for coming and showing your support. I know this has been a tough year and struggle for all of us. But I know that our boys, as well as myself and the coaching staff are extremely happy to be able to experience some long overdue football!. These young men have put in the time in the off season, over the summer (under the safe guidelines) and worked extremely hard in a short amount of time to prepare for this upcoming season. I know they will make you proud! I know I speak for everyone who is involved in our football program; we cannot wait to represent you and our school on Friday Night Under the Lights!

I am very eager to get our first football action in almost a year and a half. I cannot say enough about how great the young men are who are involved in our program. I am so proud and lucky to be around these young men on such a frequent basis. They always are striving to make themselves better as people, not just as students and athletes. They display such hard work through following our football programs three rules. #1 Always do the right thing! #2 Put the team first! And #3 Hold yourself accountable! They definitely make me very happy to come to work in the morning. I love all you guys! Because of these young men, our high school, and my coworkers, coaches and teachers, I have the best job imaginable!!! Alright enough of that, let’s get this season underway. It will be a very competitive year of football for us even with the condensed schedule during this shortened season. Our goal is to be competitive every night we take the field. Enjoy our experience together and make all of the Wolfpack family proud! Look forward to seeing as many of you as I can on Friday night! LOVE THE PACK!!! SHASTA FOOTBALL – BUILDING YOUNG MEN OF CHARACTER, STRENGTH, & HONOR

J.C. Hunsaker Varsity Head Coach

JC Hunsaker >> VARSITY HEAD COACH / OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR Coach Hunsaker graduated from Big Valley High School (Beiber, CA) in 2004, where he was a three-year letterman as a Quarterback and Free Safety, league MVP as a senior and also received the coaches’ award his senior year. He attended Southern Oregon University (Go Red Raiders!) where he played collegiate football and then graduated in 2009. He coached football for five years at Central Valley High School before coming to Shasta High School in 2013. He was the offensive Coordinator at the Varsity level his last three years at Central Valley. His first two years at Shasta he was a position coach at the varsity level and now he is going on year 8 in the program and 6th year as a Head Coach. His proudest moment as a head coach was being able to bring a section championship to Shasta this past season and also a NorCal Regional Championship, the first in school history. He’s very excited to be able to continue to coach football here at Shasta. And in this great city of Redding! What a strong community it is. And that strength was tested to the extreme by the Carr fire and he is so proud of how the community came together in all fronts to help everyone get through such a difficult challenge. He loves this community! The coaching aspect that he enjoys the most is positively contributing to the process of developing young men into good people, and of course, the Friday night under the lights pregame jitters. He loves the supportive community and the opportunity to work with such a great coaching staff, administrative staff and fellow teachers. Off the field he enjoys spending time with family, as well as enjoying the outdoors and the beautiful area of Redding. J.C. and his wife Marica (of 6 years) have no children but are planning on building their family soon, currently they have two mini Dotson’s named Lyla and Tucker.
