THE MANY VERSIONS OF YOU

How have different stages in your life created who you are today?

Self-reflection is often romanticized. However, taking a look at who you are can be a challenging experience. It can bring doubt about the decisions you have made in the past or anxiety about what you should do next.

Navigating this experience successfully can add so much value to your personal and work life. Studies have shown that when people accept themselves for who they are they are far less likely to struggle with anxiety and depression, and tend to experience overall greater psychological health.

How do you view yourself during the di erent stages of your life? Are you compassionate towards yourself?

“Falling Apart” You

We have all been through stages in our lives where we didn’t follow our intuition or were unsuccessful in achieving a goal we set. How did we feel in those moments? When the loan for the house wasn’t approved, a loved one transitioned suddenly, or you were unexpectedly fired from your job.

While these are often the most di cult times of life, they give us valuable insights to navigate the future. Evaluating your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to these circumstances can help you choose how you want to respond when you encounter similar situations in the future. Having the ability to reflect and identify how we can improve can create tons of opportunities for growth.

It Out” You

Breathe and release. It’s okay not to have all the answers. You love spending time with family but you never get any alone time, you got the big contract signed at work but now you feel like you have more clients than you can handle. During this time you might feel overwhelmed because you don’t have a clear path ahead.

This time is where the magic happens, where you are able to decide what comes next. Should you apply for the promotion or is it time to make a lateral move to a di erent department? Perhaps you are debating whether to end a relationship with a friend or partner. Take this time to learn about what you want and where you want to go and let go of the mindset that you have to have it all together.

“Got It Together” You

Sometimes, we’ve just got it together. It feels so awesome when we have met or exceeded our expectations. Achieving our goals gives us that sought-after feeling of control in our lives.

When you’re here, bask in this version and celebrate yourself. You did it! You were able to execute a plan for success, you were able to have that wonderful experience you have been planning for years, or maybe you feel peace all around you.

Be present during this moment, use your senses to absorb what’s around you, and connect to your environment.

Accept Every Version of Yourself

All of these versions of you play an intricate role in the layers of your life. One cannot exist without the others.

You can even be all of these at the same time depending on the di erent things that you have going on in your life. One constant in life is that our circumstances are always going to change.

Intentionally choose your vantage point.
