We offer two types, financial and merit based, of scholarships year-round on a rolling basis. Scholarships are limited to one class or camp per adult / child.
This spring you deserve amazing opportunities, and we feel confident there is something to WOW you this term. As we began preparing classes, we looked to you. We asked for feedback, we sought opinions, and we opened our eyes and ears. While we know how to make great art here at GoggleWorks, we wanted to know how we could best help you transform your life through unique experiences. With feedback like, “Took a hot glassblowing date class and it was amazing,” and “Variedad y buen ambiente,” we knew that adding more casual creative experiences could help you find the right time of day and day of the week to get creative. That said, as with most feedback, it wasn’t just positive. Critical feedback like “I really don’t know if I know enough to move to the next level,” and “I thought I’d be taking my bowl home with me. That could be clearer on the class registration page,” have prompted us to increase clarity throughout the process and pushed us to make classes better wherever possible. In reaching out, we heard back from Aaron, who shared what his first art class at GoggleWorks was like, saying, “I showed up for metalsmithing at GoggleWorks expecting to be handed a step-by-step project to complete. Instead, after some introduction of tools, we sat down with paper to design our projects for the class, and I quite literally panicked. I was not ready to draw anything… I was blank....Now this teacher wanted me to imagine and be creative. He clearly saw me struggling and stopped to give me the simple instructions to put pencil to paper, let it flow, see what comes out.” Aaron went on to say, “I was making a pattern and [my instructor] saw a flower. ‘Go further,’ he encouraged, ‘what about adding a second layer of petals,’ he suggested. A few minutes later I had a drawing for a pendant that I was excited to create. I spent the next few weeks honing my shop skills and creating the vision my mind had imagined. It was immensely rewarding. I hadn’t felt inspired by anything for quite some time.” We know how daunting a blank canvas can be. Our instructors have been there too, but they also have the expertise to get you through the first bold strokes, and onto the masterpiece you have always wanted to make. Now turn the page to explore, and find the perfect creative experience for you today. Tim Compton Artistic Director

Core & Mindfulness Providing a Creative and Mindful Start to the Year
This spring we wanted to bring you a selection of creative classes that focus on mindfulness. The concentration, material quality, and abstract thinking of art can help you put the struggles of the day aside, and allow you to find a deeper sense of calm. We have heard this time and again from students, especially in the last two years. Carol recently shared about how clay has helped her find her happy place, saying, “Working in the Ceramics Studio at GoggleWorks has been a constant for me through some major life changes, from retirement to downsizing into a new home, not to mention an isolating pandemic. Working with clay is like a therapy session. I sometimes arrive stressed by “life,” but getting my hands into clay clears my mind, puts me in a good mood, and satisfies my creative urges. In the end, I have a piece of art to show for it. Focusing on the material, in my case clay, requires concentration, a sense of purpose, and the satisfaction of learning a new skill. My fellow artists are all supportive and encouraging. Truly the studio is my happy place!” Knowing what creative experiences can do, we are excited to offer these classes with the hope of bringing you calm in the new year.
