East Valley Loop Tour

There are many great roads to explore North and South of Highway 60 in the East Valley and Sunday morning is a great time of day for a drive.

Our Tour will start in East Mesa. We will proceed East on Hwy. 60 to AZ 177 South, heading south past the Asarco Ray Mine. Unfortunately, access to tour the mine overlook has been closed since Covid.

We will continue South and East to a short stop in Winkleman. This year we will drive North on AZ 70 towards Hwy. 60 S. through Globe to Superior, AZ to our lunch destination at The Superior Barmacy. We will order off the menu and be responsible for our own check.

Side Note: An investor, purchased and renovated The Hotel Magma and an old pharmacy directly across the street and converted it into a bar/restaurant; The Superior Barmacy. Superior was founded as a mining town for the Silver King and then later Magma mines; silver was mined at first, and then transitioned to copper. The town has been the site for many Hollywood movies and Television Westerns. In 1997 the thriller-drama U-Turn, directed by Oliver Stone and starring: Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, and Nick Nolte. In 1977 scene from the Gauntlet filmed on Main St, starring Clint Eastwood and Sandra Locke.
