……… is the home of Kerry’s musical culture - a region of music, folklore and song. From the sweep of the Stack Mountains and Mullaghareirk Mountains of the northern region to the dignified, noble and beautiful twin mountains of The Paps in the south, this rural landscape is steeped in rolling hills, farming valleys, thick forests, bubbling brooks and rivers, charming villages and market towns. It is a wonderful location for nature lovers where fishing, walking, cycling and photography can be enjoyed amidst the heather clad mountains and rushing mountain streams. To drive or cycle through this idyllic haven is a step back in time – combining the past together with modern living. Sliabh Luachra - the “Rushy Mountain” is not a clearly defined geographical area but rather a place known for its treasures of poetry, music, song and dance. It has its own brand of traditional Irish Music. Many of the great musicians who had lived here have gone to rest but they have left a rich and beautiful tradition in this region.

The Dingle Peninsula or Corca Dhuibhne stretches 48 kilometres into the Atlantic Ocean from Ireland’s south-west coast. The peninsula is dominated by the range of mountains that form its spine, running from the Slieve Mish range to Mount Brandon, Ireland’s second highest mountain. The famed Blasket Islands lie to the west of the peninsula, much of which is ringed by the Wild Atlantic Way driving route. The Dingle Peninsula “the most beautiful place on earth” according to National Geographic Traveller Magazine was voted among the top 100 destinations in the world by TripAdvisor. TRALEE

THE CAPITAL TOWN! Tralee, the capital town of County Kerry, sits in the ideal location, in the shelter of the Slieve Mish mountains and Tralee Bay. KERRY’S WILD ATLANTIC WAY & ISLANDS Kerry’s Wild Atlantic Way is almost 450 km long with magnificent views and things to see and do along the southwest coastline of Ireland. From Tarbert in the North, take in the open skies and ocean of North Kerry Head and the spectacular peninsulas of the world famous Ring of Kerry (Iveragh), Dingle and Beara.

**Access to the Skellig Rock and Great Blasket Island are weather dependent and limited in terms of daily visitor numbers from April to September

Na Blascaodaí /The Blasket Islands Some three miles west of Slea Head at the very tip of the Dingle Peninsula, surrounded by smaller rocks and reefs, are The Blasket Islands (Na Blascaodaí). Almost 1,000 feet high at its peak, the largest of the nine islands, The Great Blasket (An Blascaod Mór), is world famous for it’s literary heritage. Na Scealga / The Skellig Rocks The most spectacular of these, the Great Skellig or Sceilg Mhichíl, has a five hundred step climb up a 1,000 year-old stone stairway to one of the most magnificent monastic sites in Europe which dates from around 800AD. Stone beehive huts where monks lived centuries ago, cling to cliff edges alongside oratories, a cemetery, stone crosses, holy wells and the Church of St. Michael.

Valentia Island Still inhabited, Valentia Island is accessible by ferry and bridge and has an extraordinary history which is reflected in the people, the landscape and architecture of the place. As a region on the extremity of Ireland, the innate and special culture of Kerry has been less susceptible to outside influences and has preserved the Irish language, Irish traditional music, song and dance. Corca Dhuibhne and Uíbh Ráthach are considered Gaeltacht regions within the County of Kerry. Irish is an old Celtic language, one of the oldest in Europe. Today, it is used as the people’s first language – the language of everyday life – in various parts of County Kerry.
