Dear friends and Eurovision Song Contest fans, on May 26th, 2012 Loreen enchanted 16.000 spectators in the newly constructed Baku Crystal Hall and millions of television viewers all over the world. Following Loreen’s win with her smash hit “Euphoria” the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 contest will take place in Malmö / Sweden. For more than five decades the Eurovision Song Contest is one of the largest entertainment shows in the world with more then 100 million viewers glued to their TV screens in nearly 50 countries around the globe. This TV show is an event comparable to the opening ceremony of the Olympic games and will once again bring millions of people from different countries , cultures, religions and backgrounds together - solely through music and entertainment. Traditions of tolerance together with broad avenues for dialogue between various cultures and civilizations have always been featured in Sweden throughout its history, with representatives of various ethnic groups and confessions living side by side for centuries, now and forever. Building upon these traditions of tolerance and mutual respect, I am sure that the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest will bring together performers, supporters and visitors who, despite differences in orgin, religious and political views, will be united through the magical force of music in the hospitable city of Malmö. In this special ESC edition of our GOLD Webzine you'll be able to find interesting informations on all participants of the two semi-final rounds and the finals (the "Big Five" consisting of Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom and the host Sweden are already set) with lyrics of their songs, a brief biography with pictures, links to their Facebook pages and to their official video. In the table of contents on the opposite page 2 all participating countries are listed alphabetically with direct links to their pages in this webzine. There is a Home Icon included on the photo pages of every participant. Clicking on this icon takes you back to the alphabetical index on page 2. Apart from that you will find an interesting feature on last years winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Loreen on page 4 and an article about Malmö on page 8.

After we have dealt extensively with the ESC participants and their contributions, we are sure: Musically, the competition in 2013 is at the pulse of time and has never featured so many different styles. Therefore we wish you a good read and a lot of fun with this interactive special edition and we hope that you remain faithful to this and our other Webzines (see backcover) even after the Eurovision Song Contest. by Ajda Dzambic Loreen took Europe by storm with her performance of Euphoria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, in May 2012. Many believe that she has revolutionized the contest by her uniquely styled performance that included an 80cm high podium, dim lights, snow, a dancer and a barefoot Loreen dressed in a jumpsuit and a kimono. But who is the woman behind the bangs? Childhood & her berber roots Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui was born in Åkersberga, just outside of Stockholm on an October day 1983. When Loreen was 7 years old her parents got divorced and she moved together with her mother and 5 siblings to the small town Västerås. By being the oldest she had to help take care of her younger siblings a lot and Loreen herself quite often refer to her childhood as being “chaotic”. Music became important to Loreen at an early age. It was a bit like a sanctuary and a way for her to distance herself from the chaos. She used to sneak into the bathroom, turn the lights off and sing for hours or until someone knocked on the door. Loreen also had a habit of ditching school to visit a nearby church to sing, simply because she was fascinated by the acoustics. Both her parents have their origins from Morocco or more specifically from Moroccan Berber, the original inhabitants in the country. Her mother made sure that her children were able to experience the Berber culture so the family visited Morocco every summer. Loreen says that she’s been deeply influenced by her Berber roots. She often talks about that

4

her view on music and the way she sings is connected to the views and techniques found in the Berber culture. More specific examples are the melodies she sings or her ability to somewhere get in trance when she performs. Loreen has later in life connected with a more spiritual way of living and thinking, something that derives from seeing her relative’s way of living in Morocco. In addition to that, Loreen finds comfort in meditation and is also deeply curious to the philosophies around Buddhism, something that she is frequently asked about in the media. Early career In 2004 Loreen’s sister convinced her to audition for the Swedish edition of “Idol, and it paid off because Loreen ended up being one of the finalists. Throughout the weeks of the show the viewers got to see Loreen take on songs after songs and genre after genre, and the judges kept criticizing her for changing the songs too much. She left the competition on 4th place but according to Loreen herself, that’s when the real journey begun. She often refers to her time at “Idol” as a teaching experience and that it was after the show she realized just how little she knew about the music industry and how important it was to find and develop her own expression. Seven years later, in 2011, after a journey that had included work as a TV-producer, a new Loreen took place on the stage at Melodifestivalen. She competed with her performance of the song My heart is refusing me. The 21 year old, shy beginner from Idol had transformed to a 28 year old, confident singer that stood on the stage wearing high heels and custom designed fashion. Loreen was eliminated from the contest at Melodifestivalen’s “second chance” but her song became a hit in the Swedish clubs. She later pleased her fans with releasing a second single, named Sober in September the same year.

The journey of Euphoria Loreen decided to compete in Melodifestivalen again in 2012, and this time with the song “Euphoria”. She first took the stage in the semi-finals of Melodifestivalen in Växjö in February 2012. Loreen’s voice carried the song to new dimensions and the complete performance left everyone in complete awe. The Swedish audience was completely mesmerized by her performance and they made sure to show it by voting her directly to the finale this time around. She won Melodifestivalen with 670 551 votes from the audience and a total of 268 points, including both voting points from the audience and the international jury. Loreen was now set to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest

5

in Baku. Days and even weeks before her performance in the semi-finals in Baku Loreen’s performance was listed as a favorite to win the entire competition. She easily qualified to the finale from the semi-finals and on the 26th of May 2012, Loreen managed to unite the whole of Europe and made sure that Sweden took home the victory in Eurovision song contest. How come Europe fell in love with Loreen and her performance? Loreen herself said explained her thoughts in an interview for BBC one:

I think the people like my performance because it's not usual for Eurovision. Usually they wear glamorous clothes, there’s a lot of lightning and that is maxed, and I had a message there, I wanted everything to be simple because we get so much information, you have to be a certain way, you have to look a certain way. That’s why I didn't wear any shoes, hardly any makeup, my hair was messy and not much lightning, couldn't really see my face. So just to narrow it down, take it down, make it easy, make it simple, we need that ….

After her win she certainly managed to turn her victory into a complete success, with number one placements on music charts in around 21 countries just days after her win. Today “Euphoria” has sold platinum in five countries, including 9 times platinum in Sweden, just to mention the absolute tip of the iceberg. Loreen also released a music video for Euphoria, in which she kept the same aesthetic as her performance in the Eurovision Song Contest. Human

Rights

During her stay in Baku, Loreen stood out from the other contestants with her interest and commitment to human rights. She visited human rights organizations along with some women rights organizations during her stay in Baku, so that she could get knowledge about the situation and also raise awareness of the situation with the help the media coverage. She also did similar work and visits during her short stay in Belarus for a performance at concert conducted by the president Lukasjenko. The money she earned form playing at the concert was later donated to the human rights organizations she had been in contact with. Loreen continues to engage in work with human rights and is currently in a great collaboration with the Swedish organization called “Civil right defenders” and it seems as is a future work in Russia might be plausible.

6

Loreen waited five months after her victory to release her album HEAL, which after all was her debut album. Many criticized her for not striking while the iron was hot but Loreen wanted to wait because she wished for her album to be elaborated and real. On the 24th of October her album named Heal was released and some days prior to that date two singles were released as well; Crying out your name (Swedish release) and a new version of My heart is refusing me (International release). All the songs on the album tells stories about different aspects in a relationship, can be everything from heartbreaks, to longing and intimacy. The sound is a mix of organic sounds and harder beats, and even though Heal is her debut album it does sound very typical Loreen. The melancholic lyrics mixed with a rough production, something that can be found in her all of her previous singles. In an interview for the Finnish morning show “Huomenta Suomi” Loreen said the following about her album:

All of the songs, or almost all of the songs, tell a story that I think that many can connect to and it’s very emotional. The dream is to be able to influence people, to make them feel and dare to feel a lot.

The album was perceived well by the audience, and specifically in Sweden where it went directly to no.1 on the official album chart. It also peaked at #8 on the Worldwide iTunes chart and had top 10 placements on charts in around 18 countries. Next came the release of a beautiful music video for her song “Heal” and the single “"Requiem Solution" (with Kleerup), which was also accompanied by a video in March 2013. Lastly, considering a Japanese release of an extended version of the album as well as the promotion and performances that have been booked it seems as though Loreen will attempt to reach some overseas markets in 2013.

The contest in Malmö. A variety of other events taking place in the same time frame as the Eurovision Song Contest and the desire to host the contest at a slightly smaller venue than previous years wee the key factors in the choice of Malmö Arena as the host venue. The executive producer for the 2013 Contest, Martin Österdahl, told Swedish press that he did not like the decisions made by previous hosts to hold the contest in larger arenas, stating that he and SVT (Sveriges Television) wants the 2013 Contest to be "more close and personal". SVT has also claimed that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) wanted the 2013 Contest to be "smaller" due to the escalating costs of previous contests. On 8 July 2012 SVT announced that Malmö Arena in Malmö would be the host venue for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. This will be the fifth time after 1975, 1985, 1992 and 2000 that Sweden will host the Contest and the second time, after 1992, that it will be held in Malmö. The dates set for the two semi-finals are 14 May and 16 May 2013, with the final taking place on the evening of 18 May 2013. There will be one host for this contest which was announced on 28 January as comedian Petra Mede.

Malmö is with its 290,000 inhabitants Sweden's third largest city. The city was founded in the end of the 13th century and is today south Sweden's commercial centre. Malmö is the seat of Malmö Municipality and the capital of Skåne County. The administrative entity for most of the city is Malmö Municipality which, as of January 2012, has 302,835 inhabitants in eight different localities. Malmö is also a bimunicipal locality, as part of it is formally situated in Burlöv Municipality. The total population of the urban area was 280,415 in December 2010. Greater Malmö is one of Sweden's three officially recognized Metropolitan areas (storstadsområden) and since 2005 is defined as the municipality of Malmö and 11 other municipalities in the southwestern corner of Scania. On 31 March 2012, its population was recorded to be 664,000.The region covers an area of 2,522 square kilometers (974 sq mi). The municipalities included, apart from Malmö, are Burlöv, Eslöv, Höör, Kävlinge, Lomma, Lund, Skurup, Staffanstorp, Svedala, Trelleborg and Vellinge. Lund, with a municipal population of over 100,000 and home to one of Scandinavia's major universities, is together with Malmö the region's economic and education hub.

8

Malmö was one of the earliest and most industrialized towns of Scandinavia, but it struggled with the adaptation to post-industrialism. Since the construction of the Öresund bridge, Malmö has undergone a major transformation with impressive architectural developments, attracting new biotech and IT companies, and particularly students through Malmö University. The city contains many historic buildings and parks, and is also a commercial centre for the western part of Scania. During the last few years a university has been established and the city is now trying to focus on education, arts and culture. Malmö was ranked #4 in Grist Magazine's "15 Green Cities" list in 2007. Malmö Arena is the first project that is already accomplished in Hyllie. Hyllie itself has a symbolic value as the first thing that meets travelers over the bridge when they come to Sweden. Malmo Arena takes about 12 000 sport fans and up to 15.000 spectators at a concert.

Shine

Shine When hurt is all you’re feeling your heart is slowly bleeding The only memories to hold on to When you almost stop believing, you’re cold, alone and freezing You think you’re lost and don’t know where to go Look up to the startling sky, relight the fire

Natália Kelly born in Hartford, Connecticut, United States was born to parents from the US and Brazil, but her grandmother hails from Linz in Austria. Kelly arrived to Austria from the US at the age of six in 2000. In 2004, at the age of ten, she was a member of the children's opera in the production of “In 80 Tagen um die Welt” (Around the World in 80 Days) at the Baden state theatre. Also in 2004, Kelly came second on Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) television show, Kiddy Contest, with a duet with Manuel Gutleb. In the following years, Kelly participated in several competitions including Prima La Musica in classical music.

You will shine, shine and fight the shadows in the sky You will shine, I see the light in your eyes You will shine, shine and fight the shadows in the sky Oh you will fly up high, the light is in your eyes Trust me, you will shine

Between 2005 and 2007, Kelly was a member of children's pop group Gimme 5 that was signed to Universal Music, and produced by Alexander Kahr. In 2011, Kelly participated in the Austrian version of talent show The Voice, and received a recording contract from Alexander Kahr.

Time is always healing and answers are revealing Sometimes they’re simply right before your eyes But when you’re down here kneeling there is no chance to see it You can when all these dark clouds disappear Look up to the startling sky, relight the fire You will shine, shine and fight the shadows in the sky You will shine, I see the light in your eyes You will shine, shine and fight the shadows in the sky Oh you will fly up high, the light is in your eyes Trust me, you will shine

On 15 February 2013, Kelly entered the Austrian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, “Österreich rockt den Song Contest”, with her song "Shine". At the close of voting, Kelly had received 32 points from the jury vote, and 38 points from the televote, giving a total of 70 points and first place, and thus she will represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, during the first semi-final on 14 May 2013.

Still alive and breathing Still alive and breathing Still alive and breathing, still alive and breathing Still alive and breathing You will shine, shine and fight the shadows in the sky You will shine, I see the light in your eyes You will shine, shine and fight the shadows in the sky Oh you will fly up high, the light is in your eyes Oh you will fly up high, the light is in your eyes Trust me, you will shine

Straight into love

Hannah (Hannah Mancini) is an American singer who works and lives in Slovenia. Hannah has worked on multiple soundtracks for Disney films and has had the opportunity to collaborate in the studio with top songwriters in the industry like Todd Chapman and Grammy winning producer, Larry Klein.

Faster than light, here comes the night Tomorrow is now You flow through my veins, inside me you'll stay There is no doubt No one in this world, no diamonds, no pearls Like your love divine So high off the ground, we'll never come down No limit, no sky

Together with Sylvain and Mike Vale, she took part in the Slovenian national final for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Ti si tisti. She was internally selected to represent Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmรถ.

Straight into love, we'll break through the dawn And light the world up from the sky when we collide Straight into love and never let go We'll light the world up from the sky into the night No turning the tide, with eyes open wide There's no stopping now With all that we have we stand, on the edge Before we dive down Straight into love, we'll break through the dawn And light the world up from the sky when we collide Straight into love, oh... We'll light the world up from the sky into the night We found the place where we belong Out of the dark, our flame is strong We're moving fast, we won't look back Higher and higher we go Straight into love, oh... Straight into love Straight into love We'll light the world up from the sky into the night

Only Teardrops

Only Teardrops

Emmelie de Forest was born in Randers, Denmark to a Danish mother and a Swedish father with English, German and Austrian ancestry. She grew up in the quaint little town Mariager in the North, but also spent much of his childhood in Sweden on the farm her father had outside Stockholm on the island Adelsö, located in Lake Mälaren. Emmelie started singing almost before she could talk and has since she was 3 years old, she knew that she was born to be a singer.

The sky is red tonight We’re on the edge tonight No shooting star to guide us Eye for an eye, why tear each other apart? Please tell me why, why do we make it so hard? Look at us now, we only got ourselves to blame It’s such a shame How many times can we win and lose? How many times can we break the rules between us? Only teardrops How many times do we have to fight? How many times till we get it right between us? Only teardrops So come and face me now Here on the stage tonight Let’s leave the past behind us

After a period in which Emmelie had sung in school and church choirs, she started at age 14 in 2007 to sing in Steve Cameron's Gospel choir in Hadsund. After four years of singing and playing with the Scottish singer, musician and songwriter, Fraser Neil, Emmilie recorded her first CD in 2007, and her second CD in winter 2008/spring 2009, both of which were CDs with classic old rock, folk and blues numbers. In 2010 she recorded the CD "Emmelie the Forest & Fraser Neill" with original People's songs, written by Fraser Neill and Judi McKeown. Emmelie de Forest was one of ten acts bidding to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden with her entry "Only Teardrops". On 26 January 2013, she won the national selection.

Eye for an eye, why tear each other apart? Please tell me why, why do we make it so hard? Look at us now, we only got ourselves to blame It’s such a shame Tell me…How many times can we win and lose? How many times can we break the rules between us? Only teardrops How many times do we have to fight? How many times till we get it right between us? Only teardrops What’s gone between us has come between us Only teardrops What’s gone between us has come between us

Nothing comes from dreams but dreams Still you believe in wonder Something happens and it seems Like a strike of thunder Nothing comes from love but love Why is it growing stronger? I am falling from above I will wait no longer 0 Hey (You’ll never, you’ll never break free from gravity) I’m like a butterfly Spinning round a sword as if to dare I should have stayed up high (You’ll never, you’ll never break free from gravity)

At the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011, she made her second unsuccessful attempt to represent Ukraine in the contest. This time the song was in the Ukrainian language. Her song was "The Kukushka" which finished second. In 2013, Zlata made her third attempt to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Gravity". Nothing comes from pride but pride Don’t spare your blade Dancing on the edge tonight I’m not afraid I’m like a butterfly Spinning round a sword as if to dare I should have stayed up high (You’ll never, you’ll never break free from gravity) Nothing comes from songs but songs If they can’t take you higher Put your heart where it belongs (Light up your fire)

Isolated from the outside Clouds have taken all the light I have no control it seems my Thoughts wander all of the time When I try to Live life without you

Birds falling down the rooftops Out of the sky like raindrops No air, no pride If being myself is what I do wrong Then I would rather not be right Hopes turn into fear and with my One wing I can’t fly with sunrise Embrace my dreams tight and that’s why

Anouk has released eight studio albums to date. Her most recent record, “To Get Her Together”, was released on 20 May 2011. The first single of the album is called "Down & Dirty" and came out in April. On 27 June, Anouk released her single "I’m a Cliché". On 17 September 2011 "Save Me" was released as third single from the album. The fourth single is "What Have You Done". Birds falling down the rooftops Out of the sky like raindrops No air, no pride Birds To a place without fear With no moonlight All I need are trees and flowers And some sunlight Where memories of being made aware The old one dies Where love ain’t lost Birds falling down the rooftops Out of the sky like raindrops No air, no pride

I have to tell you something That's been on my mind so long I've got to tell you this, Tt's been on my mind way too long I promised myself to tell Instead I'm falling apart to see you again

If you don't know, I'm in love with you When summertime falls it becomes untrue Because of the shoes I'm wearing today One is called Love, the other is Faith So tell me now I'm in your head I'm in your heart, tell me now Tell me now Because I'm falling apart to see you again

In 2012 Andrius began to record his debut album in Massive Arts studio in Milan, Italy. The first single Traukiniai was later that year, ranking within the top twenty of the Lithuanian Singles Chart, and its music video was aired on national television. Alyona Lanskaya won the Slavianski Bazaar Contest 2011 in Vitebsk. After advancing to the semi-finals in the Eurofest 2012 that was held on December 21, 2011, she qualified for the finals as one of the five chosen from the 15 entries. On February 14, 2012, she won the right to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan with her song "All My Life“.

Friday night was going nowhere Sitting in a small cafe Feeling lonely, a little tired I'd been working hard all day Then a noise caught my attention And I heard a wonderful sound Coming at me like a tsunami Nearly took my feet off the ground A rush of excitement brought you to my ears All beautiful people aha-ia ia-ia-ia... Solayoh, Solayoh, where the sun is always shining on ya We play-oh, we play-oh to the rhythm of a cha-cha Solayoh, Solayoh, turn the music up, it's gonna getcha We play-oh, we play-oh, we can make it into a hot night (Yeah) Situation started improving Maybe this was kismet now And my body just started moving I was really shaking down

However on February 24, 2012, it was announced that Alyona was disqualified after the Belorussian President conducted an investigation leading to her "unfair" win in Eurofest 10 days earlier after rumors circulated that the producers had rigged the televoting giving her 12 points making her the winner. In response to the allegations, the president ordered an immediate investigation and later confirmed them to be true. She was replaced by Litesound instead, who got second place in Eurofest finals. After the disqualification from Eurofest 2012, Alyona entered again the following year to represent Belarus in 2013 with the song "Rhythm of Love" written by Leonid Shirin, Yuri Vashchuk and A. Shirin. On December 7, 2012, Lanskaya won the national final, gaining top marks from both the public and jury vote, and will represent Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. On March 4, 2013, it was revealed Lanskaya's song was officially changed to the song "Solayoh“.

Something happened when I was dancing I could feel that powerful beat Taking me to new dimensions Waking up the devil in me A heavenly chorus and love all around All beautiful people aha-ia ia-ia-ia...

Only Love Survives

Ryan Dolan is a singer songwriter from Strabane Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He has played support to many acts over the years including Tinchy Stryder, Jedward and many more. Dolan has been described as one of the most exciting homegrown musical talents to be discovered in Ireland in recent years. His YouTube channel has received over 800,000 hits.

All our lives we’ve been afraid Watching the world decline till nothing remains But in our darkness hour, right before the dawn The old world dies, the new day is born We’re gonna live like it’s our last night alive And we’re dancing till the morning light And even if the sun don’t rise In the end only love survives So be love, be love Just be love (Just be love), only love (only love) We are love (We are love), only love (only love) And when the stars are aligned you got to make love a state of mind ‘Cause in the end only love survies

Dolan's Eurovision mentor is Spotlight Productions director Stuart O’Connor. O'Connor is the man behind all Jedward's live tours in the last three years. He devised the performance of Waterline at last year’s contest. O'Connor recently produced and directed The Best of Eurovision Show with six previous winners Johnny Logan, Linda Martin, Niamh Kavanagh, Dana, Charlie McGettigan and Paul Harrington. He was a judge on RTÉ's Supercrew and choreographed the highly acclaimed RTÉ Big Music Week Lipdub YouTube video. Ryan is representing Ireland at Eurovision 2013 in Malmo Sweden with his hit song Only Love Survives. He is hopeful that this song will bring Eurovision back to Ireland for the eight time.

So let the world collide, don’t be afraid If it’s the end of time love will remain To live like it’s the last night alive And we’re dancing till the morning light And even if the sun don’t rise In the end only love survives So be love, be love Just be love (Just be love), only love (only love) We are love (We are love), only love (only love) And when the stars are aligned you got to make love a state of mind ‘Cause in the end only love survies So be love (Be love), only love, love, love (To be love, be love), only love, love, love (‘Cause in the end) Only love survies

Love Kills

Love Kills

Born in 1995 into a family of footballers, Roberto Bellarosa was enrolled by his parents at the age of 9 at the Conservatoire de Huy to learn music theory. During a session of singing, his teacher noticed his voice and his parents pushed him to take singing lessons.

So the arrow shot right through her heart and brought her to the floor And she fell so deep like she had never fell so deep before But the pain was almost unbelievable When the end was near she felt the fear alive, alive, alive Waiting for the beat to build, give me something I can feel ‘Cause love kills over and over, love kills over and over Waiting for the beat to build, something I can truly feel ‘Cause love kills over and over, love kills over and over again ‘Cause he didn’t fight for life when he was up against the wall And he felt so scared so close to death, even though they had it all There’s a lesson that you always have to learn To the consequence of fire comes the burn Waiting for the beat to build, give me something I can feel ‘Cause love kills over and over, love kills over and over Waiting for the beat to build, something I can truly feel ‘Cause love kills over and over, love kills over and over again

One last, one last, one last prayer for life Won’t you give me, give me hope tonight? I’ll be waiting for the beat to build, give me something I can feel ‘Cause love kills over and over, love kills over and over Waiting for the beat to build, something I can truly feel ‘Cause love kills over and over, love kills over and over again

In 2011 Roberto took part in the Walloon version of The Voice (The Voice Belgique), created by John de Mol. After applying online, Bellarosa attended the blind auditions, where he sang "You Give Me Something" by James Morrison. With Quentin Mosimann, Lio, Joshua and Beverly Jo Scott, all turning their chairs to face him, Roberto ultimately decided to join Quentin Mosimann's team. On 10 April 2012, after 16 weeks of competition, Bellarosais was voted the winner gaining 57% of the votes from the public, receiving a contract with Sony Music, which he recorded an album along with two singles. Later in that same year Roberto was performing in "The Voice Belgique live tour" along with 11 of the other contestants throughout Belgium. On 6 July 2012 he released his first single "Je Crois", working with his The Voice Belgique coach, Quentin Mosimann. Crisalide (Vola)

Valentina Monetta is the second of two children, her father is from Calabria and her mother is San Marinese. Valentina spent her childhood in San Marino where she attended primary and secondary schools. She then graduated from the high school for arts “Giovanni da Rimini” in Rimini. In her childhood she discovered the love for music, listening in a tireless way to various musical styles, creating and forming over time a specific taste. Although she has not dealt with an academic background, she had studied piano and singing by herself, reaching the same professional high quality.

Uhuh.... Mmm....

Starting from 1995, she has been working with the best local musicians, becoming a versatile singer with a great talent for improvisation; her voice is both colourful and versatile, ranging from jazz to melodic Italian, from soul to r&b and pop. Valentina's artistic versatility has allowed her to deal with varied work experience as a singer, actor and presenter and in 2012 she took part in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan, on behalf of the Republic of San Marino with the song The Social Network Song (OH OH – Uh - OH OH). With “Crisalide (Vola)” Valentina is representing the republic of San Marino for the second year in succession with a song penned by famous ESC Composer Ralph Siegel after having just missed out on qualification for the Grand Final in Baku last year.

Should have seen it coming when I saw you Should have had the sense to stop and walk away It was gonna turn out complicated We’ve hit our load, about to explode If love was a mountain I’d climb up to the highest of the world I’d swim across the ocean if you’d come I’m lost in your smile, free-falling for miles Hold me, just unfold me Unchain my soul, give me love, make me whole Hold me if it’s only For this moment in time, now I’m yours and you’re mine So hold me

Farid received secondary education in the gymnasium. He studied at the Music School No. 1. He is currently studying at the Azerbaijan State Culture and Art University. By the age of 21 he has already got a considerable experience as a member of many Azerbaijani legendary music bands, such as Eastern Stars (Şərq ulduzları) and Nightingales (Bülbüllər). Farid was honored to work with such outstanding mentors in his country as Vagif Gerayzade and Aybeniz Hashimova before he became a mature solo singer. In March 2013 Farid won the Azerbaijani national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 to be held in Malmö, Sweden. Mammadov will be the first male solo singer to represent Azerbaijan in the contest.

Take a little time and you’ll know better Then to think about giving in on the one you love Here we’re going back and freeze the moment When we used to be free, was only you and me Hold me, just unfold me Unchain my soul, give me love, make me whole Hold me if it’s only For this moment in time, now I’m yours and you’re mine Remember how we used to laugh, but now you’re running from the past Let’s find the strength to carry on Remember how when love used to be, you said I was your fantasy Can’t take another night alone, so come and hold Hold me, just unfold me Unchain my soul, give me love, make me whole Hold me if it’s only For this moment in time, now I’m yours and you’re mine So hold me

Marry Me

Krista Siegfrids has claimed attention in the Finnish music-industry for a few years now as a ever energetic stage artist. Ranting about a band of her own finally came to an end as the members hooked up and
started to work on some ideas, which was the birth of her first pop/rock band Daisy Jack in 2009. The urge to do her own thing became more important and she started to write her own music. In January 2013 Universal signed her and she’s now a determined solo artist currently working on her debut album. The album will be released in May 2013.

Spying on you undercover, drinking coffee with your mother Am I getting closer? Baby, I feel like a sinner, skipping dinner to get thinner Where is my proposal? I'm your slave and you're my master Oh baby, come on, take your shot So marry me, I'll be your queen bee I'll love you endlessly I do it for you, for you, for you Yeah, I do it for you, marry me, baby I'll play your game, I'll change my last name I'll walk the walk of shame I do it for you, for you, for you Yeah, I do it for you, marry me baby Oh oh, oh oh oh, ding dong Oh oh, oh oh oh, ding dong I know where the future's heading, I can see my perfect wedding Isn't that just bracing? I don't think there are no ladies who will give you cuter babies Isn't that amazing? I'm your slave and you're my master Oh baby, come on, take your shot So marry me, I'll be your queen bee I'll love you endlessly I do it for you, for you, for you Yeah, I do it for you, marry me, baby I'll play your game, I'll change my last name I'll walk the walk of shame I do it for you, for you, for you Yeah, I do it for you, marry me baby

Oh oh, oh oh oh, ding dong etc. This is the day, I don't wanna wait much longer now If you run away, I'm gonna find you anyhow Oh, yeah, yeah, oh yeah Whatchu waiting, whatchu waiting Whatchu waiting, whatchu waiting for? So marry me, I'll be your queen bee I'll love you endlessly I do it for you, for you, for you Yeah, I do it for you, marry me, baby I'll play your game, I'll change my last name I'll walk the walk of shame I do it for you, for you, for you Yeah, I do it for you, marry me baby

Bezzina is the front man of Funk Initiative, and has released three singles, including "The Liberators", and "Paris", which have been played on local radio stations and have even topped the local charts.

His name is Jeremy working in I.T. Never questions why he has always been An extra careful guy sensitive and shy Risk assessment is his investment In a life of no surprise ‘til she walked into his life She spontaneous indeed uncertainty’s her creed She has always been neither black or white Just a curious delight she threw affection In his direction a collection of her smiles And to his surprise

In several interviews Gianluca said that his participation in the Malta Eurovision occurred after the pressure and encouragement of his singing sister Dorothy Bezzina, who was also a finalist in this year’s Malta Eurovision. But in the end it was Gianluca who had won the Maltese national final and will represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden.

She’s like tomorrow hh so distant She just wants to play like tomorrow She is always one day away All the time she slips away It’s close but yet so far It’s time to follow her tomorrow Oh oh time to follow her tomorrow He fell for her too fast We all thought it wouldn’t last Cos good ol’ Jeremy Likes his rigorous routine Cos he only thinks today But tomorrow is her way So find a new direction And you will be ok She’s like tomorrow oh so distant She just wants to play like tomorrow She is always one day away All the time she slips away It’s close but yet so far It’s time to follow her tomorrow

Since then she took part in all activities of the trend as pianist and as a singer. Lonely Planet

Gor Sujyan, the front man of the Armenian rock band Dorians, made a decision of becoming a musician when he first listened to the song Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin which has been symbolic, perhaps, fatal. In a very short period of time the young man who never ever took music education has recorded outstanding achievements in the music industry together with his friends Gagik, Arman, Edgar and Arman. In 2008 when the boys gathered together they created a band called Gor and Friends and they began to perform the songs of Led Zeppelin.

Who's the one that starts a war? Who's dictating what is less and more? Who can change the night and day? Who's the one with clever face? That can tell us what is in the space? Playing games that none can play Maybe someday we'll break the wall Maybe the light will touch us all Lonely planet, who has done it? Who can save you? Who can stop it? Lonely planet, who has done it? Who can save you? Who can stop it? Who's the one that has the right? Treat us wrong and tell us what is right? Bringing crowd against the squad

Who has honesty to show? Who can tell us "I don't know"? Who's the man and who's the god? Maybe someday we'll break the wall Maybe the light will touch us all Lonely planet, who has done it? Who can save you? Who can stop it? Lonely planet, who has done it? Who can save you? Who can stop it? Lonely planet, we have done it We can save you, we can stop it Lonely planet, we have done it We can save you, we can stop it We can stop it, we can stop it We can stop it, we can stop it For the world

In half a year they decided to perform not only cover songs, but also their own songs and decided to rename the band from Gor and Friends to Dorians. At the beginning the band was performing songs only in English, but soon Dorians made a great revolution in their repertoire presenting their fans the song Yes Kulam which means I’m Crying in Armenian. The song became very popular because “It’s about a greater love” as Gor said. Best Rock Group of the Year, Best Video of the Year, Rock Number One and other award-winning band’s first concert was held in 2009 and was dedicated to the legendary Led Zeppelin rock band. Dorians first studio album called Fly, included the famous songs like Fly, You and Me, Life is Really Beautiful, Brave and other songs was released in 2011. Collaboration with world famous musicians continues and the song Lonlely Planet, written by Tony Iommi is one of the biggest achievements for the band and their lead singer Gor, who will perform the song at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.

Kedvesem

ByeAlex (real name: Alex Márta) is a 29 years old guy from a small town called Fényeslitke in the Eastern part of Hungary. In his everyday life he works as a journalist: he is editor at Tattoo Magazine and holds a masters degree in philosophy, which has always been an intriguing subject to him, next to this passion for music.

Alex made first attempts to write songs when he was a teenager. When he finished high-school, he formed a band called Love Story Bar, which did not get too far though. His first success as musician came after his university graduation: his first single Csókolom! was regularly played by national music channels, followed by his next singles Láttamoztam and Messziről which was a joint composition with radio listeners. Becoming the representative of Hungary in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest is quite an unusual yet simple story in ByeAlex case: He never thought that it could happen. He did not even want to enter his song for the contest, his managers did it for him. He thought that he does not have enough stage experience needed for such a show. But it seems like his performance clicked with the audience, their votes got him through from the heats to the semi-finals, to the final and to victory with a persuasive majority of 40%, overtaking well-known talent show stars. And so ByAlex is going to perform Kedvesem in Malmö.

I Feed You My Love

Margaret Berger started her career in 2004, 18 years old. She has released two albums on Sony BMG, she won a norwegian Grammy for best musicvideo in 2004, and was nominated for best newcomer. Her single "Samantha" from her second album "Pretty Scary Silver Fairy" became an international clubhit.

A cocoon in a silent tree through the dark night you listen to me when I whisper broken words in your ear And you push you push me hard to the surface I'm blinded at heart but you wake me wake me up from the snow where I was born Now I can see the whole world is mine I can touch and feel I feed you my love

“Pretty Scary Silver Fairy”, released in October 2006, reached number eight in Norway. Influenced by Björk, Daft Punk and The Knife, the album was a departure from her previous effort. It featured a mixture of electronica and dance-pop music and produced two top twenty singles. The lead single, "Samantha", reached number six and its lyrics discuss women who change themselves to please others. "I feed you my love" is a song preformed by Margaret Berger on Norwegian Eurovision Song Contest in January 2013. The song is produced by MachoPsycho (P!nk, Cher, Joss Stone, Kelly Rowland, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Jessie J) and written by Karin Park, Robin Mortensen Lynch and Niklas Olovsen (Robin and Niklas have been written songs for artists such as Pink and Cher, Robin Mortensen Lynch is from Sandnessjøen, Helgeland, Norway).

I can see the whole world is mine I can touch and feel I feed you my love You put a knife against my back and you dare me to face the attack you say for cowards there's no reward Feel the heat Take my hand I trust your word bring the fire I don't care if it hurts I have the future on my tongue Give me a kiss

You And Me

Takasa is a group that consists of six Salvation Army soldiers. They participated in the Swiss national final with the song "You and Me“ under their original name “Heilsarmee”. They qualified to the national final through the online selection organized by SF. On 15 December 2012, they won the Swiss national final, therefore they will represent Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest.

Hey, hey, hey When the times are getting rough Gold and silver turn to dust People build their barricades Out of jealousy and hate But there’s one thing they could never Never ever separate Aaahh Let it hear from near and far This is how it’s meant to be We’re together you and me

On 17 December 2012, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that the band had to to change their name for the Eurovision Song Contest, in accordance with the rules of the contest forbidding political content. The group announced that they would be known as 'Takasa', an East African Swahili word which means 'clean', and wear different outfits for Eurovision. Takasa means The Artists Known As Salvation Army.

Aaahh Nothing can tear us apart sailing on a stormy sea We’re together you and me Hey! Hey! We build castles with our hands On a solid ground they stand There are shelter from the storm keep us safe and keep us warm No there’s nothing that can hurt us Whatever there may come Aaahh Let it hear from near and far This is how it’s meant to be We’re together you and me

Cezar

It's My Life

It‘s My Life

Born in a family of musicians in Romania, Cezar started playing the piano at the young age of 6. He stood out because of his musical talent, graduating from the CARMEN SYLVA Music High School in Ploiesti with high honours. His great passion for jazz determined him to further his solo career in piano more thoroughly, with greatly accomplished jazz musicians.

Love is so bright like a diamond in the light Love is so true I can paint my world in blue Love is so deep and it makes my life complete Like a mountain in the sky love is high, so high It's my life and I know it's not forever It's my life and I'll share it all with you It's my life, we were meant to be together I'll give my life to you Love is so strong in the heart where you belong It's a dream, a desire and is burning like a fire Love is so deep and it makes my life complete Like a mountain in the sky love is high, so high It's my life and I know it's not forever It's my life and I'll share it all with you It's my life, we were meant to be together I'll give my life to you

At the age of 20 he discovered his voice, which has this unique and special colour,in Milan, where he graduated from the G.Verdi Conservatoire, one of the most important Music Schools in the world, with the best marks and therefore receiving the highest honours. Cezar is considered by great opera magazines, such as OPERNGLAS, to be one of the best counter tenors of his generation. With more than 10 internationally acclaimed prizes from the most important international opera competitions in places such as Barcelona, Dresden, Milan, Monaco and San Marino, he has had a career of more than 10 years in which he has performed in the most important theatres and concert halls around the world. In December 2012 CEZAR decided to approach the pop opera musical genre, which combines both the operatic and pop opera styles on one stage, therefore creating an original and innovative musical concept world wide. His magic voice, his sound , as well as the artist's image, are important advantages admired by the public. His first single CINEMA PARADISO premiered in Romania on Christmas Eve 2012 and soon after it’s release Cezar was chosen to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö.

I'll find my story and fight for my glory of love … It's my life and I know it's not forever It's my life and I'll share it all with you It's my life, we were meant to be together I'll give my life to you

Amandine Bourgeois L'enfer Et Moi

L'enfer Et Moi

Amandine Bourgeois was in love when she grew up, in line with the ruling passion of a blended family (father a guitarist, bassist stepfather). As a child she dreamt of a duet with Whitney Houston, and as a teenager she was a member in her first pop group, Tess, before choosing the hard school of a cover band, Zia. With these she performed in bars and pubs in the Toulouse region for more than three hours sets by the weekend. She learned to move, to capture an audience, screaming a directory from the abrasive rock, funk, folk, to the best of soul and rhythm and blues (Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, James Brown).

Song

In 2008 she was the winner of the sixth edition of the French version of the Pop Idol series Nouvelle Star. After she had several hits in the last years Le Parisien announced on 22 January 2013, that Amandine would represent France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, with the song "L'enfer et moi"

Cascada is a slick, uplifting Euro-dance trio featuring producers DJ Manian and Yanou along with vocalist Natalie Horler who was born in Bonn, Germany, to English parents and grew up loving all sorts of music. At age 18 she was doing studio work for various producers when she met DJ Manian and Yanou, the latter of whom had worked with DJ Sammy on the worldwide dance hit Heaven. The trio recorded the single Miracle in 2004 under the name Cascade, which was soon changed to Cascada -- Spanish for "Waterfall" -- for the second pressing. The single took off in German clubs and eventually caught the ear of the U.S.-based Robbins Entertainment label, which had previously turned Euro-dance acts DJ Sammy and D.H.T. into American chart-toppers. Robbins re-released Miracle along with followup singles Bad Boy, Everytime We Touch and How Do You Do!.The big hit came at the end of 2005, when DJ Sammy and Yanou encountered the song Everytime We Touch by Scottish vocalist Maggie Reilly. The trio re-recorded the tune and by mid2006 their version was a worldwide smash, including America, where it topped the dance charts and made it into the Top Ten of the pop charts. The album Everytime We Touch also arrived that year, and featured all the previous singles along with covers of Savage Garden's Truly Madly Deeply and Kim Wilde's Kids in America.

L'Essenziale

L'Essenziale

Marco Mengoni was born in Ronciglione (Viterbo, Italy). Before starting his singing career, he graduated in industrial design and he started studying Languages in Rome,] occasionally working as a barman.

He started singing at the age of 16 and two years later he founded his first band. He rose to fame in 2009, after winning the third season of Italian talent show The X Factor. The following year he ranked third in the 60th Sanremo Music Festival with the song "Credimi ancora". As of January 2011, he has sold a total of 300,000 copies in Italy with his first two EPs and his live album Re matto live. In 2010 he became the first Italian artist to win the Best European Act award at the MTV Europe Music Awards. His first full-length studio album, Solo 2.0, was released in September 2011. Mengoni was the winner of the 63rd Sanremo Music Festival, and has been internally selected by RAI to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö with the song "L'Essenziale".

Contigo Hasta El Final

Contigo Hasta El Final

ESDM (El Sueño de Morfeo) was originally formed in 2002 under the name Xemá, with a clear influence of Asturian folk music. Their debut album, Del interior, was released that same year, but failed to generate commercial success. This album was recorded while David Feito, from Asturias himself, and Raquel del Rosario, from the Canary Islands, were music teachers at the Colegio Internacional Meres in Siero, Asturias, together with fellow teachers Andrés Alonso (keyboard and accordion) and Antón Fernández (bass guitar and guitar). After the launch of this first album, the band decided to create a new project.

(With You Until The End)

Juan Luis Suárez joined David and Raquel in 2003; the band changed the name to El Sueño de Morfeo and released several popular albums in the following years. In early 2011, they collaborated with La Musicalité in a new song, "Cuatro elementos", which was number 9 on the Spanish Singles Chart. In February 2011, Raquel competed together with Luca Barbarossa in the 2011 Sanremo Music Festival, where they finished in 5th place with his composition "Fino in fondo". Their 4th album as El Sueño de Morfeo, titled Buscamos sonrisas was recorded in Los Angeles, produced by Thom Russo. It was released in February 2012, with the first single "Depende de ti" released in advance in mid-November 2011. After releasing the album, the band began a tour of acoustic concerts through Spain in theatres and auditoriums. On 17 December 2012 it was revealed that the band had been internally chosen by national broadcaster RTVE to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, where they will compete as ESDM. The band presented four candidate songs for the contest. Their Eurovision entry was selected through a special televised live show that was aired on 26 February. "Contigo hasta el final" was chosen by 50% jury and 50% televote.

Hey, do you remember How we would stay up all night Talking about our destiny And I played the piano And you would strum on your guitar Those were the days If only you could see me now I live my dream I owe it all to you I owe it to you Isn't it crazy Isn't it crazy It's all because of You... All because of You... It's all because of You... All because of You... I know that if the sky would fall I'd survive it all Because of You... Ohoh... I reach for the horizon Whenever I've got days of doubt Bringing me down So even if disaster strikes I close my eyes And then I'm next to you I'm right there with you Hey Isn't it crazy Isn't it crazy It's all because of You... All because of You... It's all because of You... Ohoh... All because of You... Ohoh... I know that if the sky would fall I'd survive it all because ofYou... Ohoh... It's all cause of you Because of you Hey – ey Hey – ey Because of you Hey – ey It's all because of You... I know that if the sky would fall I´d survive it all because of you You... Ohoh... Believe In Me

Believe In Me

Bonnie Tyler (born Gaynor Hopkins) is a famous Welsh singer. Her first hit single, "Lost in France", reached the UK Top 10 in 1976 and she was nominated for Best British Female Newcomer at the 1977 Brit Awards. Soon after, Tyler underwent an operation to remove nodules from her vocal cords which left her with a distinctively husky voice. However, this did not affect her career and her 1977 single "It's a Heartache" became a hit in both Europe and North America.

You say you don't believe in signs from up above And you laugh at the thought of putting your faith in stuff like love You never see the rainbow you just curse the rain You say you wannt believe But it's just not worth the pain today

That's all fine if that's how you want it to be But if you're feeling alone and afraid and you can't breathe

In the 1980s, Tyler worked with rock music songwriter Jim Steinman, and she gained further international success with her number one hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart" in 1983. Steinman also wrote Tyler's last major British success, "Holding Out for a Hero", which was featured on the Footloose film soundtrack in 1984. Tyler was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 1984, and was twice nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Female Artist in 1984 and 1986.

Believe in me yeah believe in me yeah Believe in the way I look at you And stand beside you the way I speak the truth I'd never lie to you If you just believe in the things that your eyes can see Believe in me

In the 1990s and 2000s, Tyler has continued to have success in Continental Europe with the singles "Bitterblue" and "Fools Lullaby". Her 2003 single, "Si demain... (Turn Around)" (a duet with French singer Kareen Antonn), reached the top of the French charts for 10 weeks. She is currently touring as a guest on the "Rock Meets Classic 2013 Tour" in Germany.

You come and you go when there's never no compromise that's why The seconds and the minutes of the days of your life Go crawling by

On 7 March 2013, the BBC announced that Tyler will represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmรถ, Sweden, on 18 May 2013, performing her new single "Believe in Me". Her latest album, "Rocks and Honey", was first released by ZYX Music on Friday, 8 March 2013.

That's all fine it that's how you want it to be But you're feeling along and afraid and you can't breathe Believe in me yeah believe in The way I look at you and stand beside you The way I speak the truth I'd never lie to you If you just believe in the things that your eyes can see Believe in me

What-cha gonna do when your ship is sinking And your crying out for help And just a segull's listening In the dark of the night in the middle of the fight When you're reaching out for something and there's nothing Believe in me yeah believe in me The way I look at you and stand beside you The way I speak the truth I'd never lie to you If you just believe in the things that your eyes can see Believe in me
