This issue is mainly about winter time & giving & of course shopping! which is my favorite time of the year because that includes CHRISTMAS! What she does for the holidays A: "We don't really have family up here in NY and haven't been able to go back to Florida for the holidays yet but My mom and my siblings and I get together and make TONS of our favorite foods, and we spend it together. We are from Florida so snow is new and a big deal last year we built a "mountain" in our yard and sled down it. lol it was fun.
We also try to volunteer to help someone in need, especially the homeless, and we always donate things to children whose families can't afford to do for them, or pets in the shelters with no one to love them. "

My family has a Yankee Swap each year, it soooo much fun. The best part is when my mom and I go shopping for gifts for those who are having a tough year though organizations like food pantries and Toys for Tots (to name a few). I can only imagine all the happiness on Christmas morning."
What she does for the holidays A: "Christmas is a family time for me, I love getting in the festive spirit and I try to get involved with gigs and performances at Christmas fayres and markets in December. On the day I put on a cheesy Christmas CD and have fun with the family! "

Alexis is a goal driven,highly determined,fashionable 17 year old cancer patiant who has been battling cancer since 2012. There were never any health issues in her family. Alexis was 16, When she took a trip to the docter to determine why her knee was bothering her in a painful state. " It had been hurting for about a week and the pain was growing quickly, I never thought anything was wrong at the time but maybe growing pains." alexis said. The day they went to the doctors, the docters told them that they thought it was just growing pains or her patella(kneecap)was off track. Her knee pains countinued to grow so they went back for the 5th time and an MRI was ordered but they came to find out that their insurancce didn't cover it. They searched for another DR who would give her an MRI for her knee and they found one on March 7, 2013. They still wanted a full body MRI after that, even though the first time they requested a full body MRI it was denied, on March 15 they got one. The Dr's began to discuss the MRI's with alexis's mother jenifer and they said that it looked to them like a form of Bone Cancer. After being sent to Alanta for a biopsy, it was confirmed.
"I was extremely hurt,confused, and angry at god" said jennifer (alexis mother) " Q: As A Mother, how did you feel when you found out that alexis had cancer? A: " I was extremely hurt,confused, and angry at god" said jennifer (alexis mother) Q:When you told her that she had bone cancer, how did she react? A:" i told her and the first thing she said was, dont cry mom, I will be alright, i'm not worried". When you found out that you had cancer what went through your mind? " Nothing at the beginning, but throughout my journey i've thought about things like how this hinders my future, like i can't go into the air force now so i wonder what god has for me" said alexis on april 2, 2013 , alexis had her first chemo. on april 18,2013 her hair began to come out. " i was ready to chop it all off before the chemo came to steal it and run :). at first i was pretty calm about it, but now...these follicis need to reappear pronto! people just stare and i forget and im like why are

In november, 2012 , Jennifer had to stop working ,in order to take care of alexis, which brought her income to zero. with the help of a teacher from alexis school, jonathan's ark, jay's hope, and fb, they have managed to fight through. " i receive facebook messages and calls from people who tell me that they are here for me but overall i am doing this alone,at home i am alone & at the hospital i am aloe & at the hospital i am alone ; but the financial support now that is amazing to me the people who helped us are god's angels on earth , we would be in an homeless shelter if it weren't for them." said jenifer In july 2013 , alexis had a 17th birthday but chose not to celebrate it this year. " i choose not to do anything because i wanted to fully enjoy my birthday minus all of the cancer obstacles, i'm going all out july 12,2014 by combining my graduation party with my birthday party and my cancer free party. (party over here........woop woop!) " said alexis. In August 2013, she had her tumor in her knee removed and replaced with a titanium knee. according to her mother, shes doing better then ever.
Q: Has alexis changed anyway? A: "NO WAY, She is still crazy & extremely silly like she has always been, She is WONDERFUL, she has had some sad days (when she thinks about her future) but not many. " said Jennifer Q: Was it hard to find resources for this? A: "No, we were assigned a caseworker at the hospital who specializes in cancer families care; and a teacher from Lexi's school (not her teacher) heard about us & came over to help us & is still helping us today. said Jennifer Q: What would you say to other cancer patients? A: "Never be sad or angry it will just make you feel worse, just look at it this way, WE (us cancer patients) were CHOSEN by GOD to be Beautiful Angels in disguise to help others who are having a hard time with this horrible disease. Always have HOPE & FAITH!" said alexis

Q: What would you say to other parents who got children this way ?
Q: How were you able to stay strong?
A: " If your doing this ALONE like me, be prepared to be overwhelmed but KNOW that you CAN do this, Do NOT let your child see you cry, buy a journal or notebook to record ALL the medicine schedules, write down EVERYTHING: when they go to the bath rm to how much they eat & drink, Do not be afraid to ask the Dr. questions, Get help from EVERYWHERE do not be afraid or ashamed to beg because there are A LOT of people who have made it their job to help cancer families also do your own search to find help, I found help that the caseworker did not inform me of, I will NOT say "take some time for yourself" like A LOT of people have suggested that I do, because I refuse to relax until my baby is cancer free but that's just ME! Last, PRAY, its the only thing that gives me Peace, yes I stopped being mad at GOD a couple of days after her diagnosis said Jennifer
A: " She is my LIFE, I am all she has, I asked GOD to give me strength and he did, this I know because there were days I barely slept 4hrs or less because of her pain yet I jumped every time she called me without any hesitation. " said Jennifer
"I'm too determined, and will not let this bother me, my dreams are too big to just give up on them! " said alexis"
Q: Every girl has a dream, what is yours? A: " Most of my dreams have changed due to this cancer (I wanted to join the AirForce but now I have a Titanium Knee) , my #1 dream is MODELING!!!!!! I have wanted to model since I was 4, I use to love putting on my moms heals. I also want to be a motivational speaker. " said alexis Q: Since this happened , have you changed at all? A: "Not at all. I am and always will be the same ol' little weird funny Alexis." said alexis Q: How are you so strong? A: "I'm too determined, and will not let this bother me, my dreams are too big to just give up on them! " said alexis Q: What information do you have for ALL parents? A: "If your child complains of constant pain, get an MRI immediately, do not ASK, TELL them you want one, if you dont, and the child has cancer it can QUICKLY spread to vital organs!!" said jenifer

THE ULTIMATE COOKIE RECIPE
NO-CHILL CUTOUT SUGAR COOKIE What You Need: 1 cup butter, softened 1 cup granulated sugar 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 teaspoons baking powder 3 cups all-purpose

This is a nice sugar cookie which doesn't require that you chill the dough before you roll it out. We recommend you roll it out between two sheets of waxed paper to prevent sticking. Preheat oven to 375F. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with an electric mixer. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add baking powder and flour one cup at a time, mixing after each addition. Dough will be stiff. Do not chill dough. Divide dough in half. Roll each half about 1/8 inch thick. Dip cutters into flour before each use. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet on middle rack of oven for 8-12 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned.
