EDITOR'S NOTE Written By: Raye Reign

Hello Reader, Welcome to our 27th issue. In this issue we focus mainly on Girl Powered group, L2M that started a one time project which in time turned into a full on girl group. We need more girl groups these days that are positive more so then sensual. I applaud and adore L2M so much for bringing that back to music. We also have acquired a new writer this month named Savannah Mullings Johnson who wrote an intriguing piece on rapper, Russ. We always loved adding new writers to our team to make the magazine have different types of views. One of our writers in particular, Gabby Fabrizio, has written one of the most inspiring articles in this issue. She approached us about writing a four page article on her home during school, Manchester. We couldn't deny that it was a great idea. Can't wait for you read it. Bye, Raye

Kacey Fifield Kacey Fifield is an actress, model, singer, and dancer. She plays Karissa on Nickelodeon "Game Shakers" and on Nickelodeon show, "React To That". She has multiple TV and film credits and her recent music video to her original song "Hear Me Out" has been officially selected and awarded in five festivals, including indie Dances With Films. How did you get started? I have always loved to entertain my family and friends with putting on shows as often as possible. When I turned seven I asked my parents for acting classes and they signed me up. I got my official start in acting after the IMTA (International Model and Talent Assoc.) competition in New York! It was a lot of fun, going to the Big Apple and doing monologues and scenes. I have received several awards which confirmed to my mom that maybe we should pursue my talents. I have also received callbacks for meetings with agents and managers. This was the official start of my whole acting adventure.

making people smile and feel deeper emotions. I also love the weather and the outdoors, beaches and hiking. Did your love for music come first or acting? I would have to say both, when I was younger I would always put on small "musicals" for my family where I would sing and act, improvising a whole show! I love acting and becoming all these different characters. But when I act I portray other characters, not always myself. I also love singing my original music and express myself through songwriting. When I sing, I am Kacey and my emotions are real. That’s why I love both, acting and singing so much! What is your writing process like?

Usually, I work on the lyrics and help my music producer with the melody. My music producer and I sit down, he starts playing the piano and I start singing what comes to my head. We work together on suggestions and ideas bouncing off each other. Sometimes that process takes an hour or What has been your favorite thing about two and sometimes a few sessions. I have moving to LA? a few songs written that are waiting for the right melody to come to us. I love the opportunities to perform! Whether it be acting or singing, I love how What has been your favorite role to play? there are so many different things I can do! I act, I sing, I have my own YouTube channel I really appreciate all my roles. Each called Kacey Fifield Variety where I film and character is different and it's really edit my own videos. There are so many interesting becoming each of those different outlets to entertain! And I love characters on screen. I've played a huge

characters on screen. I've played a huge variety of characters and it would be impossible to compare them and chose just one. I do have a dream role in mind and hopefully I can play that role someday soon! I also like being myself so I would love to have my own show someday. Why do you love doing the react shows and do ever go back and watch your episodes? The react shows are super fun because I never know what to expect! I never know whether I'll be reacting to a video, food, old technology, game or even doing something else! We're all a big react family and everyone is nice to each other. It's always fun to watch the react videos I was in a while ago and compare them to my recent videos to see how much I've changed. I have been in react shows for almost four years. I have a few favorite episodes and I loved being in the Nickelodeon series “React to That” by the creators of React. It was fun to bring the YouTube show to the TV audience. What is your advice to new actresses? Always stay true to yourself and use your personality in every role you play. When you add your own twist on the character, it makes your acting beautifully unique. Make strong choices and don't take rejection personal, instead just work on your craft even more. Don’t give up, if you love it, keep going for it! Follow Kacey on Twitter @KACEYFIFIELD Subscribe to her YouTube Channel to watch her Music Video 'Porcelain Doll'.

JADE

Twenty One year old Toronto Native, Jade Naraine is a rising pop star. She once tried country by releasing 'You decided to stay' and was compared to old Taylor Swift by many radio station but she decided to stick to pop. She has recently released her new empowering single 'Princess'. What made you want to become an artist? I've always wanted to be a singer from very young. I would sing and dance around the house to old musical movies, this then turned into performing at weddings and events around the world and starring in musical's like "Carousel" and ultimately, finding a music producer to get working on some songs I had written. I also think that when I saw Christina Aguilera at a mall signing for her first album; it had a huge effect on me. I was fascinated by her and wanted to be just like her one day. How did you overcome your times of doubt when entering this industry? I don't know if I had ever had any doubt and if I did, it usually only lasted a few hours, before I would think of something else to do to keep moving. The music industry is incredibly tough. I always tell people that if they don't truly love music and aren't ready to work, don't do it. Please do something else for your own sanity. haha It's been difficult, your pretty much working 2 full time jobs, unpaid, at the beginning of your career and you get a lot of no's at radio. I've always just kept trying to make better songs and focused more on places that would play my music like Europe, Caribbean or the USA, who are excited to get foreign material.

Princess was written at a time when I felt really depressed. At the time, I had also read many heartbreaking stories via social media about; bullying, women feeling used or taken advantage of, trauma, abuse, other mental illnesses, Depression, PTSD. Specifically, I felt very bad for people who endured any kind of emotional or mental abuse. It can sometimes have a longer lasting effect on a person than physical abuse. I think the world has gotten pretty bad and we need to try to spread more compassion, respect and love towards each other. The idea for the title came when my producer said "Why are you so depressed. You have so much to look forward to and so much going for you. You're like a Princess." I felt like those words were really touching because he meant that it's heartbreaking to see a nice, beautiful young girl so sad and ruining her smile. I felt like everyone needs to remember this when they are not feeling well, that they are like a Princess. Spreading warmth, compassion and kindness is what I stand for. My writing process is always different. Normally, I listen to other music or beats for inspiration and then just start writing lyrics and melodies. I'll get a good idea for a hook or a verse and then the rest follows. What is your advice as an artist on handling online bullies? I think it's important to just ignore bullies. You can't respond to them all and spend time on that. We only have one life and we have to be happy and realize that there will always be people who don't like you and for whatever reason, they need to show that. What are your thoughts on the industry's body standards?

'Princess' was released on and the Music Video was released on her YouTube on I think the industry has gotten a little bit too consumed in perfection and artificial beauty. What inspired you to write princess and what I'm an old soul, so I believe in just being healthy, is your writing process? happy and natural. I don't think girls should try

should try to be like anyone else or try to follow trends. All that does is objectifies women more, which is something that I feel is backtracking from making our world a better place where women are respected. But, in that, I think whatever you want to do, you should do and just make sure you're doing it for the right reasons mentally. You have to love you first.

pursue ?

What are your plans for the rest of 2017?

Right now, I really just want to focus on music. I think it's better to focus on one thing at a time, but later on in my career, it would be neat to try acting, if I'm offered some guest star roles, or a movie role. I'm a trained actor. I would also love to model again, which comes with music anyways! I'm also writing a book called Deserted daughter and a screenplay.

My plans for 2017, are just to get "Princess" playing at as many stations as possible and then we are releasing my second single and third single later this year! We are thinking; "Poisonous" and "Barbie Gurls" next!

in conclusion, I can't wait to see what Jade has in store for her music. I hope she continues to create empowering music. She is just getting started but it seems that she knows what she wants in this industry and sh is going to get it.

Who would you love to collaborate with?

You can purchase 'Princess' on iTunes and watch the video on her Youtube.

I would love to collaborate with The Chainsmokers, Travie Mccoy one day I love all Youtube / jadenaraine the collabs they have made. I'm sure there is a whole other list of people I would love to Be sure to follow Jade on social media collab with but those are the two that come to @jadenaraine me right away. Are there any other talents you want to

BEAUTY BY BECCA June Topic 'Mental Health' Written by Rebbeca Fenemore

dancing, more than I love anything. However, sometimes I had to force myself to go to class because my anxiety was quite bad and sometimes I didn’t go because I didn’t think I could do it. The times which I forced myself to go, in the end I felt proud of myself and each time I thought to myself why was I even anxious about this. However, each time a lesson approached, the feelings always came. Making myself do these things, such as dance shows, performances in the West End and for the Strictly Come Dancing Tour, auditioning for the National Youth Ballet and doing all those dancing exams helped my mind and helped me as a person to be a lot stronger. I owe everything to my dancing.

Mental Health is something all lot of people feel very strongly about. A huge amount of people suffer and struggle with mental illnesses, but I myself also struggle with it too. It is definitely a big subject which has a lot of stigma attached to it which needs to be changed. I suffer with anxiety and have done so for a while. In fact, I didn’t realize I had it until I finally gave in and believed it. I kept telling myself that I was just anxious at that point in time, but it went on for years and it was only then that I realized what it was. Sometimes it gets really tough and I hate myself for it, but I just have to tell myself that it will get better and I can do this.

For anyone suffering with anxiety, or any mental health, just keep going. You will have bad days, but you will also have amazing days. Surround yourself with positive people and remove anyone negative from your life.

REMEMBER THAT YOU WERE GIVEN THIS LIFE BECAUSE YOU'RE STRONG ENOUGH TO LIVE IT.

When I was 3 years old my mum put me Follow Becca on Twitter in a ballet class, and from then on I have @rebeccafenemore danced. I believe dancing helped me and my anxiety an unbelievable amount. I love

ANGELA LEWIS

Angela Lewis, who plays Aunt Loui Saint in the new FX series 'Snowfall' premiering Wednesday, July 5th at 10 pm, is an Actress from Detroit. Before moving to New York to pursue her acting career, she graduated with a degree in Theater at the University of Michigan How was it growing up in Detroit?

A fabulous public school education is one where the school is adequately funded, and the teachers really care and push their students beyond average and/or their comfort zones. The administration and staff work together with the parents and the community to give the students the best experiences and all the resources possible to thrive. My schools didn't have tons of money, and we probably had too many students in one classroom, but success, not failure, was the expectation. They knew we were gifted and talented, consequently, we knew it too. I think there are so few examples of good public schools because people and politicians are more concerned with addressing the symptom: students not making the grades, and less concerned with the sickness: the fact that ALL the children of this country, no matter the situation they were born into, are not receiving the funding, resources, and opportunities they need for success.

Growing up in Detroit was awesome! I was surrounded by a big, loving, and very supportive family. I went to big public schools that demanded the best of their students. They were all very competitive, so sometimes I have to calm that part of myself down. I still have friends from elementary/middle school, high school, and college (though college was in Ann Arbor. Go Blue!). I was always in some kind of after school or summer program, especially if it was in the arts. My most vivid memories of home involve Better Maid Red Hot's, Faygo Red, and waking up to “Mason in the Morning on How do you think we can better it? WJLB!! I think the first step is to understand that ALL What do you think made you decide at the age children are born with tremendous potential, of three that you wanted to be a movie star? and that they really are our future. They are all precious and we should behave as such. Ha-ha. I think it was a combination of my parents taking me to see plays and musicals at Why is education important even in the the Masonic Temple, the Youth Theater at the industry? The more school education and why do you think there you understand, the better your story can be. are so few? Why did you take on the 'Snowfall' script?

She landed her first television role on the HBO critically-acclaimed drama series "The Big C" as the role of Laura Linney's nurse. Lewis quickly began working as a voice over and commercial talent for brands such as Verizon, AT&T Wireless, and McDonalds, to name a few. With appearances in many popular hit TV shows, such as TNT's "The Last Ship," Nickelodeon's "iCarly", CBS's "Code Black", and ABC's Emmy-award winning show "Ocean Mysteries with Jeff Corwin" Why did you take on the 'Snowfall' script? I took on “Snowfall’ for two reasons. One, I think it's an amazing and complicated story, of which most people are unaware. Most people have a very biased view of HOW crack cocaine came to devastate our neighborhoods - our country. I wanted to help tell the real story. I also had a very visceral response to Aunt Louie. I had fun auditioning for her, she's so different from me! But when I was cast I had to dig even deeper, and realized all the ways in which we are the same. I fell in love with her, but was nervous that she would be passed off as a cliché. It became my responsibility to take care of her; to imbibe the character's frame with as much dimension and personal history as I could, so that her story was valid and valued. I want everyone to love her as much as I do

that justifies the behavior. Once I can understand the behavior, I can embody the character. Which character do you have the most in common with out of all the roles you've played? That's a difficult question. I usually choose characters that allow me to push beyond my personal limits and experiences. So, on the surface I have very little in common with them. But after I pull everything apart and insert myself into their world, I realize I have most things in common with them! We become one. At the end of each night, and for sure at the end of each project, I say a little prayer, releasing the character so I'm not walking around in their energy. What kind of roles do you prefer to play? I like lots of layers and complexities! I also like characters that exist or operate in alternate reality, or mystical, spiritual, and dream realms. What are your plans for the rest of 2017?

I'm auditioning for films, doing some indie projects, visiting with family, and planning to travel. Ha-ha. There's something about purchasing an airline ticket. That's always the What is it like being on set of a show like moment you book your dream role! “Snowfall”? What would you tell your younger self? Super fun!!! You girls seem like you are going to be around for a long time. What do you think keeps your group so strong? Tati: We are young and determined to shine! Mariangeli: Probably our bond and ability to help each other grow. Each girl has taught me something, emotionally and professionally. I believe that if we can continue to learn from each other that there is nothing that we can't accomplish. Jenna: Our strong friendship! Lexi: How hard working and determined we are as a group!! McKenzie: I think our group is so strong because we are all very dedicated and passionate about our careers. We also try our best to understand each others point of views on issues we face. We have highs and lows but we're not perfect and it's so cool to see how we continue to grow. The messages in your music are very important to this generation, what inspires you guys to be so positive? Tati: Being able to relate to and inspire a younger audience! Mariangeli: Definitely the fact that each of us can relate to the messages we portray in our music. All of our songs come from the heart and are made to genuinely make our listeners happy. Jenna: I have a strong family supporting me and I have a very strong faith. That's what makes me the positive person I am. Lexi: I want to be an inspiration to kids all over the world! McKenzie: Our group is so positive because we want everyone to be inspired to live a full life and go for their dreams!!! We want our music to be uplifting for our fans as well!!

What is your advice to those fans who are dealing with bullies in their daily lives? Tati: To focus on the positive and ignore the negativity. Mariangeli: Just remember to stay strong, and that at the end of the day what's right is right. You will always have someone to turn to that cares about you and if you know that someone is doing something they shouldn't, you should never be afraid to stand up and let people know. Jenna: Let someone know what's happening and find a responsible adult who you trust to talk to. Lexi: Make sure to tell an adult first and just be who you are and don't let them get to you. McKenzie: If you are going through tough times with bullies and negative people you should not let them get to you. You have to learn that a lot of times bullies are just insecure within themselves or are hurting and they don't know how to deal with it, therefore they hurt other people. So you have to just be yourself and remain positive. Also reaching out to a peer or your parents is always a good option and they will be there for you! In Conclusion, L2M has a bright future in music not only because of their personalities that click so well together but because they are spreading an empowering message that needs to be placed in music right now. As a lot of musicians jump on the sensual trend, we need more girl groups like L2M to remind us that being positive and empowering is cool. Warner Brothers made an amazing choice when signing this group. Even as a 22 year old, I enjoy their music because it gives off good vibes. Hopefully they will surpass the 'Going Solo' curse within groups and stick together and show that it's possible to be a long lasting, empowering, multi talented girl group.

The Success Story of Russ -ow one rapper from Atlanta defied all odds

Over the last decade, Atlanta born rapper Russ has been rising up the hip hop ranks. His single 'What They Want’ recently went platinum and his debut album There is a wolf dropped last month. If we are talking about success, the self proclaimed. “10-year, 11-album, 87-song overnight success" is in a league of his own. His confidence and what some may call arrogant demeanor has served him well, and many artists could learn a lot from his vehement belief in his music. Last year, shortly after dropping 'What They Want', he made his feelings on the eventual success of the song, pretty clear. “I have an unremovable stain of selfconfidence,” he told Forbes in an interview.

RUSS IS A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH....HE IS A DIEMON TO THE CORE he has not always been given the sufficient credit for his work. After releasing full-length albums for free, back to back online- the rapper soon realized that this method was in no means successful.

The repetition lasted over a year before he accumulated a following large enough to capitalize on. Russ uploaded his first song on SoundCloud, “Kiki,” on October 12, 2014. Soon after, the rapper would begin selling out tours worldwide and have his debut album peak at number four in the Top 40 RNB/Hip Hop chart, and at number 7 in the general Billboard chart. It is clear to see that Russ is a force to be reckoned with in the industry, and relies on no one to get him to where he wants to be.

Except for his mum June who fans will already b accustomed with as Russ makes sure she rides the success train with him, often taking her on tour and on holiday. She even starred in his music video ‘Manifest’ where he proclaims ‘took my mum with me, let her soak up all the sunshine. Let her watch the rain stop, all because her son shined.’ It is evident that his mum is his biggest influence and inspiration, and it is so beautiful to watch.
