Just Smile

As some of you will know, the last week was Mental Health Awareness Week, something which I think is incredible because it is raising awareness of such an amazing cause. So, I wanted to start off my feature this month by saying PLEASE, please, continue all the amazing support for Mental Health after this week, and continue to raise awareness of such a crucial topic in a modern society. Also, be there for your friends, family, strangers be there for everyone. A few kind words can go a long way, and with that thought in mind, it brings me to today’s article.

Spread the love - tell someone just how much you love them. Not spoken to your aunty in a while? Ring her up and tell her just how much you love her!

Give a compliment - Do you like that girls handbag in front of you? Or really love that boy’s hoody sat on the train? Tell them. We get scared to talk to people, but you’re being positive about them, what’s not to love?! Manners - Manners, manners, manners! Always remember to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ to a person, and if you have to get past someone, a quick ‘sorry’ will make the situation 10x happier for everyone.

Do you have any small gestures that you have done for someone? Please let us know, we’d love to hear how you’ve been helping people!

Help the less fortunate - it’s quite sad really that we don’t have to go far to see people less fortunate than us, but you can help them. If you see a homeless person sat outside a shop, go inside and buy them a meal deal!

Smile at people - such a simple one, but a little smile to someone really does go a long way. Especially if it is at the older generation, I know just how far a few kind actions can go, who sometimes feel a little bit uncomfortable and that’s why I have compiled a list of small around the ‘youth’. gestures you can do to help improve someones day drastically. So why not go and Give up your seat - sat on a crowded tube? complete just one of these small gestures bus? train? Can you see someone who today, and improvesomeone's day deserves the seat more than you? Give up positively! Send much that will make their day so much better. me a private message or tweet to @gabbyfabrizio and let’s chat! Give a tip - If you go out for a meal, remember those people who are serving you! Hold the door open for someone - we are all guilty of it, just walking through a door and Surprise Notes - Leave notes for your family being oblivious to those around us. CARLA JIMENEZ

Meet the very funny, Carla Jimenez who kills the role of Alba on 'The Mick'. In her acting career she has played six nurses, at least one maid, and three characters named 'Rosa' on sitcoms like ABC's "Desperate Housewives," FOX's "Raising Hope," NBC's "Last Man Standing" and the comedy film NACHO LIBRE. How did you get your start in the industry? I grew up doing theatre, then I found an agent through some theatre I was doing in Glendale, CA. From there I started doing commercials, which eventually grew to fantastic film and television roles. What is your favorite on set memory from anything you been in? I think one of my favorite memories from being onset of “The Mick”, would be in the episode "The Sleepover." It was so much fun having Scott MacArthur's character Jimmy mark up my face with a sharpie and just walking around with it. It was pretty funny and made me and everybody on set laugh.

she's a little more outrageous than I tend to be. I'm very much a homebody. I like to be close to family and friends and I think Alba wants a bit more of a party right now haha. On Bullying: I challenge those girls who witness it to stand up for those who are being bullied. For the girls who are being bullied, I hope they find the strength within themselves to stand up for what they believe in and to not let others put their negative influence on them. When someone bullies you, it's because they're afraid of themselves. They're afraid of the light that you have within you & they want to destroy that to make themselves feel better. So don't let them. What is your take on body shaming and how do you deal with Hollywood’s standard of the 'Perfect Body'?

I think there is so much pressure to be "perfect" but what does that mean? You are never going to please everyone, so LOVE YOURSELF! I hate body shaming, it's another form of bullying. It's What about 'The Mick' made you say yes to the telling people "because you don't fit my script? perception of what perfect is, you are not good enough" BUT I SAY SCREW THAT! I think everything about the script made me say yes! I loved my character. She's a real type The "perfect body" is the one filled with love of person who gets to think and feel all these and humanity for your fellow man. It's being a different ways and gets to do all these source of joy & positivity. Every shape & color outrageous things, but more importantly I love is perfect. YOU, reader, as you read this are the writing, the story, and all the other PERFECT! No one should ever tell you what's characters and I think that is so important. You best for YOU! want to go into this doing something you love and I feel that I was very fortunate and lucked I don't listen to Hollywood or anyone's out with this particular pilot. standards of "beauty." I listen for the beauty within...and that makes me beautiful on the Are you anything like your character ‘Alba’ in outside as well. real life? Catch 'The Mick' Tuesday nights at 8:30pm on I think the only similarities between Alba and FOX I, is our loyalty to others. Other than that I think

I’ve never wanted to be a model. But I do really enjoy doing photoshoots! I believe it does a great disservice to the audience looking at these photos who believe that this is not only a goal they should aspire to, but it’s the norm. We need to start spreading the message that a person who takes cares of their body, loves it and respects it, is a body that is beautiful and that body will come in many different sizes. Be Determined Written by Rayye Reign // Art by: C. Cassandra , G. Ontour, Rachel and Vintagetravelin

My story is pretty long but in a summary, I would say that I am a socially awkward blogger who found her voice through online arts which helped me find my voice in the real world. Don’t get me wrong that sounds like an awesome TV show produced by Disney Channel but the truth is it took a lot of patience and determination. I started at the tender age of 6 when I wrote and sung my first song ‘I Can Be’ acapella in front of my mother. Ironic huh? I knew what I wanted to be and how I wanted my life to go that young and no matter what I was gonna do it.

dreams and how to accomplish them. 6 years old wasn’t the time to accomplish them really but my mom gave me a lil head start. By the age of 15, I began to realize that I could focus on my dreams and make them a reality. I felt in tune with where I wanted to go and how to get there. At this age, while everyone was focused on the trends, boys, and wearing their pants extremely tight, I was in the library reading and racking up on AR points as us introverts would do. I was also working on my dreams as the CEO of my own magazine company. Mind you journalism was not my first thing because honestly as much as I loved English, spelling was just a task for me. Over time as I tried to perfect my artsy I saw things that lead me to become a part of the Media. (I’ll go in depth on why I joined the media in another blog post) So I joined the rude, made up stories with made up sources, chasing you with cameras in dangerous places media, not to do that stuff but to actually be different. I wanted to just…..simply stop bullying. That was the motivation that made me so determined.

It took me awhile before I actually got serious about pursuing my dreams myself because on the other hand I wanted to be a kid and play with dolls, duel others in card games and dream about being a spy while purchasing spy toys from the book fair. My mom also saw what I wanted to do and she pushed me in directions that gave me skills without me knowing that I was actually working. She kept me kiddish but also wise beyond my years. I was placed in programs that were offered such as choir, the dance group at my church, an arts summer camp, computer classes, reading programs, cheerleading etc. I wanted there to be a media outlet where there was positivity and equality for all and a way to get Over the years I learned more and more about my young girls connected to the young artist who

It’s paying off but gosh that was a butt load of work. Continuing on I actually am happy that I did all of that work because it has given me great opportunities to speak to some of my favorite celebrities, introduce new artist, tell my story, become worldwide , partner with brands and PR , design and create , build a brand and meet all of you! It has most importantly given me a voice and that’s what dreams are right? Allowing yourself to find what makes you feel all tingly inside every time you get a chance to do it and what allows your voice to be heard.

o promoted positivty. 90% of mainstream magazines and blog sites are bullies. (Not gonna name any names) and the few that promote positivity don’t really get as recognized as those who promote photoshop, gossip, and insecurities. Bullying made me determined Af. So I guess it was a pro and con to all those horrible memories. ^_^ I got on the internet and found my voice while helping others find there’s. I never thought that this would be a part of my dreams and a love of mine at first but I felt like this would be a good thing to add and something that can change lives.

Being determined to achieve dreams and goals can be hard tho especially when you have no money , self esteem or friends to help but I guess that’s the only con of it right? Because when you actually finally achieve all of that work that you put it , it was worth it. All of those days where you cried because you felt like you were just gonna be stuck or wasn’t worth it – guess what, you are now someone’s inspiration.

You now are apart of helping someone else get out of that funk that almost made you give up. You are a voice that people need to hear because you have a story. You have a gift that was given to you to make this world a more happier place. You have to use it. ( For good of course, duh.) Your Also as a girl who wanted to be a cover girl even determination should be at 10000 with people though according to the fashion world I was too like me and others rooting you on. I may just be a fat (at 110lbs) or too short (5’5) to be a model, it face on the internet but I am also a human bean was great to have my own magazine with a story and an outcome that is here to cheer you on. Being determined didn’t come over night tho, it came over years of patience and hard work. When Until Next Time Reignland, the magazine first started I would do an issue here Raye and there because it was SO much work and I was like eh it’s not worth it cause I got things to do ( I didn’t have nothing to do actually lol) but it was just my insecurities. Then eventually after a break though within myself ,it turned into a year and a half of completed issues, two writers, and over 11k views a month at the age of 21. For those of you wondering while reading this, Yes, I did do everything, I designed the website, post, magazine content, promotion, interviews etc. I have a very small team now but not until now.

How did you get into acting? I was always a shy adolescent and I decided to take theater in high school to gain confidence and become more talkative and ended up falling in love with it! So when I graduated high school I continued to take acting classes and pursue my acting career. When did you realize how big your parents were? I realized that at a very young age but we were such a normal family that I didn’t really think about fame. My dad worked on a few Macaulay Culkin movies when I was a kid. I was a huge fan of his and I remember I was so in awe when my dad was working with him. When I was a kid I loved watching the Twilight Zone and I remember watching my mom in a couple of Twilight Zone episodes from the 1960’s that were shot in black and white and I remember my brother saying to my mom, “Mom, when did you turn to color?” Haha. It was awesome growing up with my parents and seeing their work on tv. What made you move to Japan after high school and what did you learn while you were there? I decided to move to Japan to try something different with modeling. My agent had suggested I go and experience Japan and she set me up with an agent over there. I grew up a lot while I was in Japan. I lived in

an apartment complex with the other models and they were from all over the world, most of them were from Russia, Latvia, Hungary, and Ukraine. The language barrier was very difficult for us. I remember my first trip to the agency, I walked with another model from Latvia and neither one of us could speak Japanese, let alone understand each other and we had to figure out how to use the trains and find our way to the agency. We eventually found it but it was definitely a crazy experience! I learned how to use the trains but it took me a few days. I started learning about the culture while I was there and picked up a few Japanese words to find my way around. At first, I was a little lonely being there by myself and then by the end of the trip, I was having so much fun that I didn’t want to leave. You have a lot of education. Why is education important to you? I have always thought it was really important to get an education. I went to college and got a degree for myself, not for the experience of going to college, it was more to prove that I could do it and succeed in getting my degree.
