Hello Members, Some welcome relief from the hot weather over the last few weeks. A shame we aren’t getting some rain to help out the garden to go with it. Hopefully you are diligent with your watering and haven’t lost any trees over the summer period. Working from home has certainly helped my trees this year. Since the exhibition weekend when my trees were neglected one day too long, the rest of the summer has been without incident. Its that time of the year when we take stock of what we have accomplished as a club over the last twelve months. I would have to say things haven’t progressed as much as we would all like. Numbers have continued to stay low, with a core group tending to be the ones I see each month. Our goal last year was to increase our membership and we did get some interest during the year but again the numbers declined towards the end of last year. Numbers aside it was still and enjoyable year. A stand out again was an enjoyable night being hosted by Bendigo Bonsai Club watching the Rui Ferreira demonstration, our small club supplied 15? Of the participants on the night. It is always a great night and I think Mauro may be back again this year. This Sunday we will be holding our Annual General Meeting, the meeting will be at about 1pm to give our out of towners a chance to be there. There will be plenty of time for a chat and to work on some bonsai before we focus on the meeting. Bring some trees to work on while you are having a chat and bring your thinking caps as well. We need to finalise a program for the year as well as set up a committee. That’s enough from me, I hope to see you on Sunday for another enjoyable day. Paul

January Meeting A few projects worked on by the small number in attendance. Sorry only limited photos

Top Robert has restyled his Chinese elm from a broom into a nice informal neagari style (exposed root). Above The small olive reminds me of the ancient bristlecone pine Simon has as his profile picture on Facebook. Right Trevor and I had different thoughts on this olive, I think it ended up more like his suggestion in the end. It some wire put on when I got home to pull down some branches. I think this will be a super tree in the future‌.Paul

GBS out and about Sunday 4th Feb I went down to the Tet Nguyen Dan, or Tet for short, it is the biggest festival of the year in Vietnamese community. Celebrated on the first day of the first month of the Lunar Calendar. The Vietnamese Bonsai Club held an exhibition at the event and David and Shrua from Bendigo were there doing demonstrations and selling some stock. Many excellent trees on display‌ Paul
