Hello Members, I hope you have enjoyed a safe, healthy and merry Christmas/ New Year period since we have last been together. I hope you are looking forward to a productive year in the life of your bonsai. Alas mine have been struggling along with the variable weather we have been having. I forgot to water one day before a hot day and it has certainly knocked a few of my trees. I suppose it could be a way of telling me which are the species I should have in my collection, as they are better suited to our climate. We had a great end of year celebration at Bodhidharma in November. Our gracious hosts Diederik and Tara turned on a beautiful day in a wonderful setting. The food and company was enjoyed with a game of Giant Jenga to test our skills. Watch out for Diederik and Sidney if you threaten to dethrone them from the champions podium. After lunch we drew the Exhibition Raffle with a mix of winners. The bonsai in a pot donated by Diederik was won by Michelle a local from Campbell’s Creek, The hamper of bonsai/gardening products was won by Laura from Forest Hill in Melbourne and the Bonsai book was won by Catherine who was present to collect her prize. Our meeting this month will be a casual get together as I know quite a few of you are away at the moment. It is still a good time to be defoliating most of your trees and building ramification. I will be brining along a couple of figs that certainly need some attention and a repot if I get myself organised. Also a heads up, our Annual General Meeting will be held at our Feburary meeting on the 19th. Please consider taking up a committee role as it has pretty much remained an unchanged committee for the last 5 years or so. That’s enough from me, I hope to see you on Sunday for another enjoyable day. Paul
