Hello Members, What a busy month I have had since the last Newsletter in July. At our meeting in July we had a workshop on building a moss garden. Thank you Helen for the suggestion as I think we all had fun on the day and there were some excellent results produced on the day. Pictures on the next page. I then headed down to the Bonsai Northwest Club’s exhibition. Held the week after our meeting. The club has over 150 members. It was an excellent exhibition as always. It is always good to catch up with our Melbourne bonsai friends for a chat and some inspiration. Next it was our Exhibition “Winter is Here” at the Daylesford Town Hall over the weekend of 3rd and 4th August. It was another very successful exhibition put together by our members. I want to personally thank Diederik for the extra work he puts in towards this exhibition over the Thursday through to the Monday in organising the backdrops and lighting for the event. Thanks also to Kristy for washing and ironing all of the tablecloths it was much appreciated. Finally to all the members who were there over the three days (either setting up, sitting at the entrance table, welcoming visitors and selling items from the sales area, walking the floor of the exhibition to answer questions and supervise the trees or helping to pack up at the end of Sunday), I thank you for your dedication to our club and efforts in spreading the joy of bonsai to the greater community. I have some photos from Glenn on page three. Now for this Sunday, It is back over to Shepherds Flat for our dig event. Unfortunately the Oak Forest is no longer a viable option for digs. So we are off to Diederik’s to dig a variety of species from his property. See bottom of page four for details. That’s enough from me, I hope to see many of you on Sunday rain hail or shine for another enjoyable day with friends getting dirty. Paul
