Hello Members, Well newsletter is that late it is after the event. I won’t have pictures from Sunday on this one as I’ll need some for Dec/Jan. Last month’s meeting we had David give a talk on one of his passions Azaleas. He brought a beautiful display of trees for us to admire as well as a couple from other members to add to the display. I’m sorry I don’t have the notes from the day but I’m sure David is only too willing to provide advice to anyone who needs a few tips. We also did some last minute preparation on some trees for the Spring Exhibition and generally had a great turn out for the day. Bendigo Bonsai Club hosted International Bonsai Artist Will Baddeley on Saturday 27th October. Will is renowned for his carving skills and did a workshop in the morning and Demonstration in the afternoon after lunch. It was an excellent day with the Bendigo Club once again being fabulous hosts. Helen, Trevor, David R, Jean, Ian, Shrua, David and Sidney and Myself enjoyed a masterclass of carving. Hopefully next year Trevor can show us what he learned on the day. One week later we had our Spring Exhibition. Held at the old tea rooms in the Castlemaine Botanical Gardens, over the Melbourne Cup long weekend, the weather was very pleasant and the turnout from Members new and old to help over the three days including setup was outstanding. Thankyou to all who gave up some time even when not displaying trees to assist in the setup on Friday. I think every Member who was in the state turned up over the weekend to help at one point or another. Numbers through the door were consistent over the two days and the sales area also did very well. I think we still need to get a few more developed bonsai into the sales area, as the ones there all sold. Feedback from the public was excellent again, everyone enjoyed the members willingness to talk and answer questions and the friendly spirit within the club always gets noticed. We had 18 people put their email details down for the newsletter, two of these also came to our breakup, and one new member signed up on the day, so hopefully we get a few more new faces around next year. Our Facebook page has also passed 500 likes and follows so there are plenty of bonsai enthusiasts out there wanting to see what we are doing and exhibiting. That’s enough from me, I wont be seeing you on Sunday until the 20th of January 2019. I’ll put out a Xmas edition with photos from our breakup in Dec . Paul
