Experience the new Belfry The iconic Belfry resort has been given the title ‘spiritual home of the Ryder Cup’ having provided the stage upon which the world’s best players have excited and enthralled the crowd on no less than four occasions. A new £26m renovation has secured its status as one of the world’s leading golf resorts, with all the facilities designed to reflect its history. Spanning three decades – from the heroics of Seve Ballesteros driving the 10th in 1985 to current Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley holing the winning putt in 2002 – The Belfry holds a beloved status with the British public. At its heart is The Brabazon course: laid out by Dave Thomas and Peter Alliss with tournament golf in mind. Some of the greats have fallen foul of its perilous lakes and bunkers, creating some of golf’s most exhilarating dramas. Two other courses make up the 54 holes at The Belfry. The PGA National – England’s only PGA-branded course – is a must for creative shot-makers with an inland links feel, and has staged two European Tour events. The Derby offers a more forgiving challenge, though you still need to be accurate to yield any birdies on this parkland design.
