Different concepts of the same quality

UGOLF is the leader in golf course management in Europe and its subsidiary, UGOLF Iberia, which I am Area Director of, has managed Mar Menor Golf Resort, Saurines de la Torre and Hacienda del Álamo Golf Resort since 2019. The three courses are completely different, a feature much appreciated by the players who want to play different course concepts, but with the same quality.

They are three parkland courses but with fundamental differences between them; Saurines and Hacienda del Álamo share some of the essence of a desertparkland style, but only at first glance. Hacienda del Álamo was designed to host major events, while Saurines is based on aesthetics and is arguably one of the European desert courses most akin to Arizona, a jewel of the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula and an exceptional Jack Nicklaus design.

Mar Menor is the flagship of the three and, as I mentioned, is one of the most visited courses in the region with the distinction of having been designed by Dave Thomas and Jack Nicklaus. It is a parkland resort in its purest form without a doubt where 2 designs have been integrated in 1.

Hacienda Del Lamo Golf Resort

El Club de Golf Hacienda del Álamo es un par 72 diseño del famoso Dave Thomas, que cuenta con un recorrido de 18 hoyos perfectamente integrado en su entorno, grandes greens y obstáculos estratégicamente colocados. Su academia cuenta con zona de bunkers, zona de chipping, un gran putting green y una zona de prácticas de hierba natural. Además, los huéspedes tienen la oportunidad de mejorar su swing con la última tecnología de TrackMan en UGOLF Academy by Thomas Johansson. A todo esto, se le suma que los clientes de Hacienda del Álamo golf Resort tienen incluidos en sus paquetes varias rondas en los campos de Mar Menor y Saurines, completando así una experiencia de golf inolvidable.

Saurines De La Torre

El recorrido es considerado uno de los mejores campos de Murcia en el que UGOLF cambió los bunkers de greenes y llevó a cabo obras para mejorar la casa club y el sistema de riego. Todo ello para aplicar criterios de eficiencia que elevaran los estándares de calidad, dirigiendo sus esfuerzos a conseguir la celebración de un evento profesional en los próximos años. Saurines de la Torre Golf es un diseño de Jack Nicklaus con grandes semejanzas a los campos desérticos de las Vegas y Arizona diseñados por él, pero con una filosofía de hoyos enlazados. Se caracteriza por calles onduladas entre dunas de arena y greenes con impresionantes moldeos, pocos bunkers y un gran lago central. Desde su apertura, Saurines Golf ha sido un campo de referencia en la zona, pero necesitaba un área de putting y una casa club bien equipada, mejoras que UGOLF implementó.

Saurines de la Torre Golf is a Jack Nicklaus design with huge similarities to the desert courses of Las Vegas and Arizona designed by him, but with a concept of linked holes. It features undulating fairways through to sand dunes and greens with impressive contouring, few bunkers and a large central lake.

Since it opened, the Saurines Golf course has been a benchmark in the area, but it lacked a putting area and a well-equipped clubhouse, improvements which UGOLF have now made and which players have been able to enjoy.

Mar Menor
