Tarpon Springs Golf Course The Best Golf Value in Pinellas County

The Tarpon Springs Golf Course is

owned and operated by the City of Tarpon Springs. The original nine holes were built in 1907. In 1927 the course was redesigned by Wayne Styles and John Van Kleek and made into an 18-hole facility. Par is 72 and the course plays 6,200 yards from the back tees. The course follows the architecture of the time with small, elevated greens and quite a few doglegs. The President’s Report The West Central Chapter’s 2020 tournament season is officially underway. The WCC is hosting 20 events this year. I would like to sincerely thank all of our professionals for continuing to participate in these events during the uncertain year we have had so far. Our Chapter Championship took place June 8th & 9th at Innisbrook Resort. After two days of play split between the Island and Copperhead courses, Nathalie Filler was crowned as the overall Chapter and Women’s Chapter Champion. Nathalie shot a two-day total of 145 while Bryan Florio and Greg McClimans tied for second one stroke back. Our Assistant’s Championship was held simultaneously at Innisbrook Resort. Fielding Brewbaker and Time Hume led the way with 145 totals. Brewbaker won the playoff to win the 2020 WCC Assistant’s Championship. The following week, June 15th & 16th, our Senior Chapter Championship was held at Countryside Country Club. Keith Kulzer won with a 3-under par total of 141. Gary Koch finished a close second with a 1-under par total of 143. I would like to extend a special note of appreciation to Century Buick GMC GolfCoastMagazine.com

Five of the Esplanade at Azario holes are played along and through mature oaks and pines. Hole 12, named “Enclave,” plays to a raised green surrounded by several deep bunkers and Florida’s native vegetation. Hole 17, “Big Oak,” requires a bold tee shot across a lake to the multitiered 9,000 square foot green, adjacent to the largest native oak on the property. course. With six sets of tees that play from 3,500 to over 7,000 yards, the layout features wide fairways, randomly placed strategic bunkering and 18 masterfully designed greens. Working with a flat canvas, the team turned the presented obstacles into beautiful solutions. To add dimension to the otherwise flat land, Wilczynski and his team dug several large manmade lakes and used the soil from the excavation to construct the golf course, residential lot pads and roads. “The extensive earthmoving and detailed landscape that we created for each hole brings a dramatic transformation to the original property, which is not found elsewhere,” said Wilczynski. The golf course, which will ultimately be a resident-only private golf venue,
